Thanks Laura, for this trip down memory lane. I lived in SOHO in the 80's where KH's work was on walls both above and below ground everywhere. His message was never clear to me, what with crawling baby and barking dog. It seemed the subject was secondary, but to what? Well, SOHO was filled with struggling artists, such as myself, and KH found a way to get noticed, which I view as his primary motivation. Countless spray painting kids were "marking" their logos on trains and trestles everywhere in competition for attention. In a way, KH won. In a way, brilliantly.
