at the end of the year im auditioning piano at some conservatories in the uk for my undergrad and it all seems so unfathomable... definitely calming to watch this! thank you for sharing!
i'd just say to think of it like this: the panel wants you to succeed! they're not checking and tallying every mistake that you might make. also you're auditioning for a school. you're not gonna be perfect! school is the TIME to make all of your mistakes! if you were perfect you wouldn't need to go to school!
Do you know about how long the entire audition lasted? I’m auditioning for FSU on violin at the end of the month and I’m absolutely TERRIFIED. Hearing you talk about your experience is super helpful, thank you for sharing!!
I'm glad to hear that it helped! Typically undergraduate auditions last anywhere between 10-15 minutes (usually more around 10), I believe. But honestly the audition went so quickly for me I'm not even sure I was even in the room for 10 minutes haha. If you're terrified, I would suggest playing for friends, family, a pet etc. lol.....maybe even have people set up a mock audition for you to simulate being in a high pressure audition environment!
So they don't necessarily have a specific music selection as far as pieces, however, they have guidelines and requirements on their website. I had to play a movement from a standard concerto, a movement of solo bach, and a standard etude
Literally SEARCHING for someone who auditioned at UMD for Violin. A GODSEND
oh wow, I'm glad this could help!

I’m auditioning for the best music school in my state this weekend, and I am SO nervous. Do you have any tips that could help me last minute?

Did you even need to play the etude ? Which one did you prepare ? :)
i did play an etude! i just can't remember which one i played off the top of my head. it was a kreutzer etude, i believe
Can you do an update on UMD and your dislikes and likes
i'd actually love to do something like that! hopefully i can make a video about it in the near future...
Did they have specific music selection they wanted to hear? Or did you choose your pieces?
