I use to see her and her dad in my neighborhood. Once she won her grammy, I had recognized her. I finally went to see her in concert at Lincoln Center...and she was awesome. I also had the chance to meet her dad after the show and we were able to chat for a minute. Her dad sings just as good as she. God bless. A family of gifted and blessed singers.
And that was at the Grammys. I've been fortunate to see her perform live three times since, and have tickets for more concerts over the next year. Her confidence (especially after her Grammy wins) has skyrocketed; she's experimenting, taking more risks, making it interesting for her and her band (especially given the amount of touring dates), and blowing the audiences' minds. Her Grandparents are gospel singers Elder Goldwire and Ruth Mcclendon...beyond jazz this girl has an annointed gospel voice as well.
