Dang, hell of a find, great condition for restoring. I'm dealing with a 3.5" deadlocked with rust, probably been buried or something. I'll try electrolysis tomorrow and then try to take it apart with an hydraulic jack. The hardest vise project I've had to this day. But every wilton is worth the effort!
First class work here. I agree on the paint, it’s kinda lackluster, but staying true to the original is the way to go in some cases. That vice truly looks like it was never used. The jaws are level and sharp and from what I could see there was almost no evidence of wear on the internal parts. I currently use a vintage Millers Falls #18 mini swivel base which is great because of its unique mounting set up, but it’s got smooth fixed jaws. I’ve used it for years and will always keep it around but I will have my eye out for one of these as it looks a little more suited for heavier work and built a little stronger with a similar footprint as my MF. Keep up the great work, I could watch these vids all day haha
Thank you so much for watching! Yeah, the paint wasn't my favorite as it was just a bit dull for me. I really appreciate you watching the video and thank you for commenting.
Very nice restoration. I just did some work on a friend's Wilton but he didn't want to paint it. I hope to find a baby Wilton at a reasonable price some day.
Nice work man! I thought that turned out great, and I think it's interesting how the inside of the vice was relative fine and intact because it was never really used
Wow Beautiful restoration! It does in fact look like it was unused and now it looks like Wilton intended it to look in 1960 👍 I agree, Sage isn’t as nice a color as the verde green, but you kept it period original. Love those baby Wiltons. Lovely job 👍
I think the Rust-Oleum Hammered Light Blue is the closest color you can find now that the Verde Green is discontinued. The light green is also close but not a close as the light blue.
Outstanding job my friend! I have never even held one of them.. but I sure hope to come across one at an estate sale one of these days! Also, SO glad to see someone that is a fan of red and tacky 🤠👍enjoyed!
Great video; you better go play the MN lottery; I never saw bolts come out that easy. EvapoRust is a miracle liquid. Those jaws look never used too. Good hack with that freeze plug. It would be nice to paint the letters just a thought.
Greetings from a fellow gopher stater. Nice job! Man that Vice would fit perfect in my little watch shop. Great find! Got a couple videos myself. Subbed.
Great Job. I am a transplant Minnesotan, born and raised in Duluth. Living now in Southern California. What part of Minnesota are you in? I am retired and collected Diamond Caulk and Horseshoe tools.
Nice job sir! Beautiful. Quick question.. I noticed the third mounting hole is at the front of your Vice after you rebuilt it. Is that the correct position for that third mounting hole? It seems like it should at the rear of the vise
The reason I’m asking is because I just finished restoring my Wilton Cadet Vice and I can’t recall where that third hole was supposed to go, front or back. It makes more sense to me to put it at the rear. But if I have it facing the rear, the vise doesn’t swivel equally on both sides. Which seems weird to me. Thanks man.
Thank you for watching. You are correct, the third mounting hole should be in the back. I just happened to have the swivel base in that orientation, and didn't notice it until after the video was released.
Watching this is killing me you sanded down the original part instead of your $.89 part now if a collector wanted this beautiful vise it can't be put back to original because you ground the dust cap opening oversize. it's $5 for an original dust cap you cheapskate.
I like how you told about the different colors and when Wilton vhanged them, i never knew that
Thank you for watching!!

I love the color! Beautiful job!! The use of the freeze plug is brilliant. 👍
Thank you!
That is a great restoration and beautiful vise. 👏 I have 2 baby bullets and they are like trophies in my garage.
Thank you! Glad you liked.
You can see my restorations on Instagram.
Beautiful. This is what I need for my SMALLER projects.
Thank you for watching!
I would love to have one of these on my work bench. Excellent job.
Thank you!!

Never heard of a baby bullet vice, very cool. Great resto job 👍
Thank you for watching!
Great little vise, nice restoration job. If you don't like the masking process, send the parts to me. I'll mask them and return them to you. 😉
Thank you for watching. Haha! I hate masking but don't hate it that much! 😀

Thank you! I use that grease all the time.
Perfection achieved! Great video, I learn a lot. I’m a fan of red grease so your liberal use of that wonderful stuff was greatly appreciated.
Thank you! Red N Tacky is my favorite grease.

Great video and lovely little Wilton keep up the good work buddy 👍🏻

Nice job. I only wish that Wilton made these babies now. I just bought a 3 inch USA made bullet model but would love to get a "baby" too.
Thank you for watching!

Thank you!
Well done. And that is a nice vise. Best wishes from Germany.

@@garageshopminnesota Okay thank you for confirming!
Hi man, excellent work, where you got the verde-green hammered paint, I been looking for that colora for a while a can’t find it.
Thank you. I think I ordered that off Amazon.
Đẹp quá
The Rust-Oleum Hammered Light Blue or the Light Green would have looked a lot closer to original.
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the input!
@@garageshopminnesota You put out great videos. I should have included that in my original comment.
I appreciate that. Thank you!

I see that you have an eBay storefront too!
Why would you modify the body of the vise by making the dust cover recess larger? Sand the freeze plug OD, not the ID of the vise!
It was rough and uneven on the inside, and that is why I sanded the vise and not the plug. Thank you for watching!

I had one in near mint condition. Sadly I sold it and have regretted it ever since. 😩
Good grief, how exasperating watching you trying to pry that apart. Don't you have a fricken vise of your own?
I sure do

This vice deserves better than the half ass parts you made, its too bad its in such great condition.
