Great video to consolidate this info into one easy to watch video. Another tip regarding shipping on eBay is if you are selling the Same kind of things all the time (graded cards, singles that are shipped in PWE through eBay standard envelope) you can create shipping policies with the dimensions, weight, etc all built in and just select your shipping policy when listing. Makes it so you don’t need to adjust those numbers every time
The fact that you have a whole section of your site dedicated to recommended products is dope and says a lot: you're actively trying to help folks out and make this stuff accessible to us trying to learn. Kudos and props
I had no clue how TCGPlayer worked as far as selling until I found this video. Now I'm finally able to start selling some XY cards that I have, and hopefully this kicks off my Pokemon card selling adventures!
Great guide. I’ve sold hundreds of items on eBay, most of them trading cards. A couple other things to make note of: 1. If you are selling a card under auction instead of buy it now it’s critical to schedule the listing so that the auction ends during peak days and hours like Friday evening, etc. Do some research on peak hours to have your auction end. 2. For shipping a card in a toploader I use blue painters tape to tape the top. It’s easy to remove but keeps the card from coming lose. I hate getting a card with scotch tape or shipping tape on the top as it’s a pain to remove but the blue painters tape comes off easily. 3. If you are going to post real pictures of your items instead of scans I find it’s important to have some sort of stand for the card to rest on. Customers seem to perceive a more professional seller when the card is on a stand with a plain background than a card laying on a surface. 4. Also if you are taking pictures of the item I find it easier to use the eBay phone app to list since I’m taking the pictures on my phone anyway. I will tend to crop my main photo so the card takes up most of the picture.
Thanks for the feedback. 1. Great advise. Absolutely! Definitely want them at night on certain days for auctions. 2. I still like the sleeves but yes painters tape is better than scotch tape 100%! 3. That could help. yes. 4. I have heard the phone app is better by multiple people so i assume it must be. Appreciate it!
@@NostalgiaNomics thanks for the response. I definitely wasn’t trying to say the painters tape is better than the clear bag just throwing another option out there for people wanting to use tape. Also I think listing on the computer is faster if you already have the pictures on your computer but it’s faster for me on the app if I have the pictures on my phone. So just trying to help people out depending on how they do things.
Do you have a video going through how to look at your cards and determine if it’s mint vs lightly played vs etc etc? I recently found my childhood cards and was going through them
This is very informative! Aside from the eBay and shipping fees, are there other costs to consider? For example, are eBay / TCGplayer sales treated as income and so you have to pay income taxes?
Thank you for this very informative video. You explained everything clearly and the recommended products/services really helps too on your website Liked and favorited your video and your website to come back to for reference :)
i'm opening ebay right now..the tricky part is the shipping ( choosing courier is expensive here around 40-50 dollars). I'm wondering if it is worth it
This was a great video man good job. I’ve never sold a raw card before only graded but if you sell on eBay does it create the label for you so you can print it? Or how does that work? I couldnt imagine slapping a 4x6 label on an envelope
Like your video, did you ever go over shipping cost with tcg player. I remember they don't have a selection like ebay it's done by sections. I remember when selling multiple cards and shipping was 1 cost but on ebay you can put shipping on each items
No it is one cost on TCG Player. I mostly always use Free shipping on EBAY and Free Shipping over $5 orders on TCG Player so it doesn't really come into play much for me. Depending on the items you are selling it could come into play more or less.
Thanks for this man. I've been collecting since 2018, and for the first time I've been considering grading/selling some of the cards in my collection to help fund my main collection goals. I knew posting listing should be pretty simple, the biggest thing I worried about was the packaging. Like if somebody orders 10 singles from me at once, or a combination of singles and graded cards at the same time. I want to make sure I have the appropriate size boxes/shipping material for any combination of order. That section on your website is great for helping me get started. What would you do if somebody orders multiple cards at once?
Awesome to hear. So those white boxes have room for about 3 slabs or a slab and a good amount of singles. If the singles too many or too valuable to use an envelope I would just put 2 in each top loaders and group them in 1 poly bag and send them in a bubble mailer or small box.
@NostalgiaNomics Im new to selling. I have good idea of how to do it and your video really helped. My biggest question is the shipping labels. Ive never sold anything online before. When would I get the buyers shipping information? Both for Ebay and TCG Player. Would it be after they paid and I recieved the funds? Or is there something else I need to do in order to get the information. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Hey thanks a lot. Very simple. The shipping info is given on the order page for both eBay and tcg player after someone purchases an item. Ebay will actually allow you to purchase the labels directly on the site and create a printable label with a few clicks however tcg player doesn't have that option so you will need to take care of the shipping yourself on there.
I have a complete base set including holo charizard and a 95% complete fossil plus hundreds of first editions. Two folders full untouched from 1998 until now. What do I do next? Grade the cards? They are in great condition. Near mint. Help please
I want to sell for a good amount but I feel uncomfortable mailing my cards to get looked at by “professionals” just need some advice. If anyone reading this knows how to get in contact with someone that could help me out lmk thanks internet
Gave it a go early 2024.. over a 4 month period I invested a total of $400 an made $730. Was alot harder to make a profit then U originally expected...
Been thinking about selling sealed product but im worried about them getting items then saying its been opened or something is there a way to prevent this
Lol I just decided to give this a try and now I've got 2 boxes of evolving skies and a 1 box of surging sparks I need to sell for at least 1300$ or I'm losing money. My problem is I just want to open them all

As a newbie this literally dumbs it down to sell and what to expect. Perfect video for new sellers.
Thank you! I have a ton of raw cards and did not know about TCG Player! eBay has been slow going since I’m not a niche shops for Pokémon cards
I have been doing ebay solidly for at least a year or more, but learned a few things here I did not think of. Good stuff my man.👍
O Awesome. Glad it was of some help.
Wow I just started my eBay… good timing!

Awesome walkthrough Alex! You make it so simple and detailed. Thank you! 👍👍
Thanks man. Glad you like it!
This is very informative! Aside from the eBay and shipping fees, are there other costs to consider? For example, are eBay / TCGplayer sales treated as income and so you have to pay income taxes?
Yes but if you are set up as a business there are write offs than can offset those taxes. You gotta consult a tax expert on that though.

Yes if you ship with ebay in PWE (plain white envelope) it generated a label for you for an envelope.

Grading can definitely raise the value but if you are uncomfortable with it then it isn't a must.
@@NostalgiaNomics thank you for the help.
How should I price shipping on TCGPlayer?
I just do the minimum 1.22 and then free over $5 but if you are doing bulk you may want to change that.
Gave it a go early 2024.. over a 4 month period I invested a total of $400 an made $730. Was alot harder to make a profit then U originally expected...
That's not bad at all. Can't complain about almost double your money in months!
Been thinking about selling sealed product but im worried about them getting items then saying its been opened or something is there a way to prevent this
If you are worried about it just make sure you are selling to established high feedback accounts with a long track record and positive ratings.
Very helpful, thanks!
What do you think about reusing boxes or packaging?
I do. save money any way you can when it comes to shipping materials as long as the items are well protected still.
Great content
How do the fees compare?
The fees are pretty much the same i believe.
