Why don't you buy a weed burner, the way Stephanie has in Chateau Diaries? I love your blue flower bushes, not the lilies, but the ones with little blue clusters of flowers, first saw them in Monaco, loads of them over there to put them in the bottom ones, and the balcony, wouldn't you try some trailing geraniums, or indeed lavender with some pink or white flowers....to go with your house... just ideas, but it is your choice after all, what you'll like! There are some stunning fuchsias but they do like some shade - not in full sun all day. The pedestal pots may be a bit top heavy once planted so could topple in heavy winds up on the balcony. What an amazing discount 70% - wow !
I love your new pots & where you placed them. I can just imagine one of those statues near your front door. Be careful with the round up weed killer, that is some pretty powerful stuff. I would wear a mask and gloves when you use it. And be careful with the dogs don’t let them get near it. 🥰 Love your channel! 🤗
Beautiful, I love watching your vlogs, everything is always so pretty. So much fun spending time in the garden too. I can't wait to start on ours but our temps are still a little warm here in Arizona so we have to do a little at a time during the morning hours. Careful with the chemicals, our neighbor used that stuff like water and she is no longer here, she passed some years ago. It is too sad of a story to share. There was a huge lawsuit with that chemical with all the harm it did, so many people suffered. Very bad for not only the little bees and natural insects around the garden but so, so harmful for us, especially to our children. I believe there are some countries that don't even allow the sale of it. Weeds can be annoying, but I look at the little bees and how much they enjoy the pollen and after they flower and die we just weed wack them or pull them out by hand. Thank you again for a beautiful vlog, best entertainment around now days, watching how everyone around the world lives.

As soon as you said you were off to "The Pot Shop" I got quite excited. I knew you would not leave without making a beautiful purchase but I really felt your pain when the shop was shut!😊😊 How about some hot pink miniature Standard Roses for the big pots? They will give the "ball" effect and have the colour splash you want and maybe if you are lucky also some perfume, or maybe Gardenias as they smell beautiful when in flower. I think you can get them as a Topiary plant too. Another good choice would be a miniature Magnolia called "Little Gem". I know they all grow in the heat as I have all 3 of those plants in my garden in Australia. You have loads of options so can't wait to see them planted up. PS... I would buy 2 more of the bigger pots for the front of the house! (expensive but you will have them for years and might not be able to get matching ones next year).

Garden pots should have 3 types of plantings.....A Thriller, A Filler, and a Spiller. A Thriller is your center plant. The topiary you want, or Canna plant, or a New Zealand flax, etc. It generally grows UPWARDS. Your Filler plant is what fills up and covers the dirt. Something like impatience or Alyssum. Last, is your Spiller. This will be planted amongst the filler and is meant to spill over the edge of the pot. A needle point ivy or any other ivy. Anyway, the garden center should help you find one of each. Have fun!
💚Lovely video as always. Gorgeous choice of pots. My neighbour here in the south of France, grows white tea roses in her tubs, which she has no problem growing. She got them from Amazon and they look lovely as they cascade down beautifully.
For the planters on your balcony, what about trying a small leaf ivy that will withstand the heat/cold, plant the ivy around the edge of the Pot so it can spill over the sides. In the middle of the pot plant seasonal bedding plants for color ie. Spring Primroses and in Summer something like a Vinca or whatever looks good at the Nursery. You would have a bit of work each season changing out the annuals, but the ivy would always look green, just requires a bit of trimming from time to time…Happy planting.
Hi Fern, I would plant matching Osteospermum/African Daisies in the balcony pots. Pink of course, they will withstand the heat but still give you the English feel you desire. Are the pots draining? If not I would plant inside of a nursery container so you can empty access water if you have a rain storm or over water. Happy gardening! 🌸 😘

Loved the blog Fern and have been a subscriber for a long time. Your pots are gorgeous and I like the placement of them. I live in a northern state with lots of snow and very cold temperatures so I can’t give advice on what to plant. Your hair looked lovely ! Gardening is hard work and good for you and Ryan tackling a big job like that.🎉
The new pots are gorgeous. I'm a bit worried that the tall ones on the balcony might blow over if you get a bad storm with high winds. Low growing ornamental grasses would look good, they come in lots of different colours, or ferns. Trailing geraniums if you want colour. Try Ogix Pro special chantiers on the weeds in the gravel. It as a strong bleach based cleaner but also good on gravel areas. Make sure you wear protective gear and old clothes because it is very powerful.
Trailing Rosemary and Lavender stoechas 'Bee Brilliant' would look lovely in the new deck pots. Beware that these 2 pots could topple over in high winds unless they are weighed down with Rock or similar

When it comes to timekeeping, as a rule, France does not run on punctuality. I've been here for 30 years, and depending on the job, when in the UK a meeting starts at 9h, you arrive 5-10 minutes before, in France it is not at all unusual for people to start arriving from 9h onwards. They usually finish on time though!

Neat white vinegar works exceptionally well as a weed killer. Use on a dry day. Much more environmentally friendly.x

When it comes to timekeeping, as a rule, France does not run on punctuality. I've been here for 30 years, and depending on the job, when in the UK a meeting starts at 9h, you arrive 5-10 minutes before, in France it is not at all unusual for people to start arriving from 9h onwards. They usually finish on time though!
