There are only three constants in life. Death, taxes and Nihil0.0 making DDDA content. I never liked playing strider but watching so many of your videos makes me really appreciate how well crafted the class is. To me ranger was always my calling. It's not as interesting but can do everything and like warrior has some cool abilities that when used right melts the enemies. Never stop making videos man, we love them.
More of a exploit than legit tactic, staff users can use frigors ice platform to partially cover a chest that contains a maneater. This will prevent the maneaters ambush grab when opened. Fighters and warriors have the option of placing barrels on top of the chest (has to be barrels like the one seen at 13:08 , not crates or pots). This will have the same affect as the frigor platform. Maneater will still appear, just not ambush grab.

You can use maelstrom to move the medals around the room until you can reach them with a simple strong attack which does physical damage. I have been playing with sorcerer sync 3 sorc and a mage. It has been an enjoyable challenge dealing with some enemies, coming up with new ways to handle magic resistant enemies.
@@kilivanjg2813Gicel, Bolide, and exequy all work on regular golems. They're still annoying, but with 3 Sorcs you can spell sync a bunch of times while the pawns charge High/Grand Bolide or Gicel, and send out 3 or 4 casts near instantly. Stamina intensive af, so you'd likely want Grit augment to reduce the catching breath animation, but it can be done.
Strider's been my first love in this game since it's initial release, really turns the game into a swash buckling adventure instead of a point and click shooter or hack & block & slasher.
I think you might be underselling how unique and deep the Mystic Knight playstyle can be. Putting down a Perilous Rune, activating a Holy Riposte, slapping down two Greater Cannons and then perfect blocking a big attack only to one-shot the enemy is a bliss unlike I've found elsewhere in Dragon's Dogma :)
I would just like you to know that befor I came across your videos I was playing and building some characters on my xbox 360. They were alright but then I watched quite a few of your videos, I must say they helped me out alot with my builds. Thak you for the most welcomed insight.
0:17 I feel like this is a significant design flaw. It's just clear as day that some enemies were specifically designed for certain vocations, and pawn mechanics are NOT refined enough to offset that. Like, tell me that the two ur dragon hearts on the tips of his wings are reasonable. These are noly not climbable, you can reach them as melee during literally just one of his attacks and when he falls down, and just for enough time to squeeze one-two jumping attacks. You are literally forced to either suffer through this process and pray to lord RNGsus that your pawns decide to attack his wings, or to change vocation. And this is an example where you can still deal with the enemy, and in still the base game The point being - I love DD, but the game heavily insetivises you to pick a class with both range AND magick options, because pawns are not good enough to be fully in conrol of getting hard - reachable spots and physical resistant enemies relieably, and I've really grown to dislike that, sadly Kinda reminds me of HOMM3 - "Heroes of Magick and Sometimes might, if you're unlucky" (c)
In the interest of fairness to the developers, the game was clearly intended to have the player experiment with numerous vocations and switch through them like a swiss army knife to deal with the various game challenges thrown your way. It's a player peculiarity that so many people seem so deadset on "purist" playthroughs where they exclusively main one vocation and refuse to utilize other ones. There is nothing stopping a player, besides sheer stubborness, from swapping from Fighter to Strider purely for a metal golem or Ur Dragon fight, you know? It takes about 5min to get rank 5 in a vocation and a couple hours to max one. My main is a Mystic Knight, for example, but I've maxed out Strider, Fighter, Warrior and Sorcerer for various augments and sometimes I just outright swap to one for a specific task. Cheesing Death on Strider, for example. I think too many DD players approached the game set in their ways from other RPGs and refused to acknowledge the clear developer intention for any character to be any vocation at any time, and leverage that versatility to optimally solve problems presented to them.
Thing that dragons dogma 2 NEEDS: - Better storyline and quests where you can join thiefs guilds or become a vampire or werewolf ect. (like Skyrim / Dragon Age Origins/ Age of Conan / Kingdoms of Amalurs) - Better World design: Medieval western world is boring. What would be nice is Eastern style Demon world Humans that have yokai/ demon powers (like Nioh). The world also needs much more interresting NPC with their own story and dialogue. - No more pawns. The pawns seem lifeless and dull. Instead give a party option to play with your online friends and form a party together or you could recruit NPC's from the game. There shuld be lots of NPC with voice dialogue that are specialized in diffrent classes that you can recruit on diffrent quests or to fight dungeons. - Better enemy AI, enemy difficulty and random enemy spawn locations. Also there shuld be human NPC's who have diffrent classes that you have to fight aswel, only fighting dumb monsters that can't specialize or use weapons gets boring. ( A nemesis AI system like middle earth shadow of war would be very cool) - Better balaced combat system: balancing the damage you do to the enemy and the damage the enemy does to you/ stamina regeneration/ poise/ stealth options. (this is what Dark Souls does good except for stealth) - An player home where you can design your own house and store stuff in there. Trading with other players in game and a free market where you can buy stuff that other players have sold. - PvP: Outside the cities players can kill other players. This would be awesome and would require you to be on the lookout when exiting cities. Also add a Colloseum/ Arena where you can 1vs1 / 5vs5 pvp. - Keep the combat/ jumping /grabing / sheathing weapon mechanics. They are awesome and makes you feel like a Ninja. Add Bare hands fist fighting mechanic aswel. - Add a [ Kill or Spare, but take all their loot ] mechanics to enemies you have beaten when they lie on the floor (like gothic 3). This will be great for human NPC characters in game or for PvP. -Add more classes and class system shuld be expanded and be more in depth. There shuld be a huge skill tree to optimize your build (like Path of Exile). - The level up system should be like skyrim where if you are attacking with a sword you level up your sword skill ect. - There shuld be a detailed worldmap, fast travel from city to city or have some mounting animals (but done right) and there shuld be a quest book in the pause menu where you have detailed information on every quest location/ city / monster / human NPC ect. Also 3D models of every enemy and NPC and item in your inventory.
The lock on trick is so handy, I wish I knew about that sooner. Yeah, Fighter and Warrior as your vocation means you NEED yellow and blue vocation pawns to save your ass. The metal Golem in the Witch Forest had me realise the weakness of Fighter and Warrior.

I recently started playing dragons dogma and you've help me to understand the game way better, and this video made me try strider and I absolutely love it
I think Strider is a good recommendation for a first playthrough just because they're the best at clinging to large enemies. That's one of the biggest initial draws of this game, and there's plenty of other things the Strider does well on top of that.

I'm in the exact same boat. I'm doing missions, go off the beaten path and explore for fun. The combat is freaking addicting, but yeah the story is kinda whatever

I played this game a while back as the mystic knight. 2 enemies that I remember struggling with were the griffin on that harpy tower and the cockatrice in the castle yard. Greatly underrated game.
1:44 I do beg to differ on Sorcerer. Maelstrom can move the disc into a position where they can be hit with billow fairly easily. Takes a bit of time. Gycil does decent damage if Maelstrom doesn't work and I believe Bolide also does damage to the disc but the targeting won't lock onto them so that it is really random to hit them.
Shadowshackle and grand scension on anything that was outside the trap, with good positionning, is an hilarious MA combo. You stagger-fly them into the sigil
Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone here, but Ryota Suzuki who was the combat director for dragons dogma is taking charge in the combat mechanics of FF16. If you look at the latest FF16 trailer, you can clearly see what looks like a strider "Skull splitter" skill in combat. My jaw dropped when I found out that the combat will be fluid like dragons dogma in ff16. Not dragons dogma 2 I know, but something to chew on until DD2 releases.

I just got this game for $10. Having a blast with the battles, exploring at night just to get into fights. Started with Fighter and wanted to check out Assassin next, but you make Strider look like cool.

I've heard putting a barrel on top of a deep-throater will prevent him from gobblin you,, it's on the wiki or reddit, can't recall.

I will trust my DD2 content to only 3 TH-camrs. Nihil for the knowledge, Infinite Cringe for the entertainment aka memes, The Rift for basically anything. There are bigger content creators out there for sure but you guys are the true fans of this game and the real members of DD community

Hey Nihil, i just want to say thank you for uploading these videos , its because of them that i eventually decided to buy the vanilla game on ps3 , and 2 days ago i found an unopened brand new copy of dark arisen in a retro gaming shop , youre videos on BBI have been helping me a lot to understand many of the tactics you can employ with all classes , especially mystic knight , it became my favorite because of your vídeo "For those who want to understand Mk". I think Strider is a good recommendation for a first playthrough just because they're the best at clinging to large enemies. That's one of the biggest initial draws of this game, and there's plenty of other things the Strider does well on top of that.

Had no idea that targeting with ingle did prioritized cannon targeting! That’s a game changer for my MK. I have hundreds of hours logged in DD and never knew that. Thank you!

Sorcerer can move the discs around with maelstrom. It is slow af but if you bring them to the stairs they can be easily accessed
you should comeback and start with elden ring, it would be legendary

finally started playing this game. This game is so overwhelming. 20 Hours or so in and I have no idea what's going on. Guess this channel will be my home for the next few months.
I'm in the exact same boat. I'm doing missions, go off the beaten path and explore for fun. The combat is freaking addicting, but yeah the story is kinda whatever

I played this game a while back as the mystic knight. 2 enemies that I remember struggling with were the griffin on that harpy tower and the cockatrice in the castle yard. Greatly underrated game.
WAKE UP
1:44 I do beg to differ on Sorcerer. Maelstrom can move the disc into a position where they can be hit with billow fairly easily. Takes a bit of time. Gycil does decent damage if Maelstrom doesn't work and I believe Bolide also does damage to the disc but the targeting won't lock onto them so that it is really random to hit them.
Shadowshackle and grand scension on anything that was outside the trap, with good positionning, is an hilarious MA combo.
You stagger-fly them into the sigil
My favourites are Mystic Knight (riposte) and Warrior (arc of obliteration)
Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone here, but Ryota Suzuki who was the combat director for dragons dogma is taking charge in the combat mechanics of FF16. If you look at the latest FF16 trailer, you can clearly see what looks like a strider "Skull splitter" skill in combat. My jaw dropped when I found out that the combat will be fluid like dragons dogma in ff16. Not dragons dogma 2 I know, but something to chew on until DD2 releases.

I just got this game for $10. Having a blast with the battles, exploring at night just to get into fights. Started with Fighter and wanted to check out Assassin next, but you make Strider look like cool.
