I play a bunch of Ness on Slippi, and I have to say, Melee Ness really doesn't feel bad once you have a good grip of his jenky mobility. His string/combo game is as solid as you could ask for, his double jump cancels are incredible mobility mix-ups (though honestly, not cancelling the double jump is more of a mix-up), his uair and fair landing lag ain't bad even if you fuck up the L-cancel, he's a slow faller until you don't want him to be then he fast as fuck, neutral B usually gets me at least one safe edgeguard kill a game, his bat was at its longest range in Melee by FAR which makes for a very strong/relatively safe tipper wavesmash option, and don't even get me started on yoyo glitch fuckery 😁 sheik and marth can be rough matchups imo, but I don't mind seeing the rest of the roster!

In ultimate you can literally lose because you've never played against a specific character and there is nothing you can do to prevent it
Sib But the exact same thing happens in melee? Only reason you don’t see it as often if because people don’t actually play those lower tier characters because they striaght up aren’t viable. The game is also like 18 times as old so of course people will know matchups better.

i mean.... they win some but you don't see consistency
aMSa has really consistent results
@@gumbo9545 true. I think Yoshi is better than people think. and that may be true for other low tiers as well. I just don't think all of the examples in this video really prove the point it's trying to make. but I'm on board with the idea.
@@AmmerBros I think it's also because amsa has tech skills on par with the gods. He singlehandedly brought his character up the tiers, and has beaten many good players in recent years. Hell he is up 3-0 against Mango in their past encounters, which can't be said by many this year.
"Both of these guys are very emotional players"
understatement of the era.
And when everyone is ss tier like fox, no one will be ss tier like fox.
Reference!
so even then everybody's top tier, fox will still remain higher, proving that he's broken. The game isn't balanced
That Gannon clip is fucking nasty bro god damn she was already dead 😭😭
Always nice to see the loser seem proud of the guy that beat them with a non-meta character
Winning always feels better when your opponent is a good sport about it
Look at the training mode tuesdays logo at 2:30.
I was trying to figure out what detail is throwing it off for me.
It's the EYES. They don't follow the perspective that the rest of the sandbag does.
If those eyes were slightly angled it would be a top tier logo.
I'm upset.
Smash Player: "Worst Fox player in the game"
Professor Pro: "No, I am not!"
Smash Player: **Hovers over any F- character**
Professor Pro: **begins sweating profusely**
bro doc is such an underrated character his shorthop into nair or fair is INSANE
Mewtwo has been my main since Melee
hearing lud do melee commentary was a throwback
Every character is good in the right situation. I do think experimenting with "bad" characters is a fantastic thing, maybe someone will shake up the meta. Unlikely, but worth the effort.
Humans can't change genders.
I like how most of those guys who losed are happy anyways because he enjoyed an epic fight with a low tier character
I mean, a single video of someone doing good witha a character doesn't mean the character is good, this is universal knowledge for any sort of competitive game
donkey kong is the best
donkey Kong is the best
now we just need a G tier character killing a top 100 fox main at 0
I play a bunch of Ness on Slippi, and I have to say, Melee Ness really doesn't feel bad once you have a good grip of his jenky mobility.
I main G&W, and he isn't really that bad. He may be low tier but once you get used to it, you can do amazing things. With the nair or fair, you can launch pretty easily
this video is far more relevant after zain fulfilled the skilled roy prophecy
Melee is balanced, gets wobbled by ice climbers, melee is almost balanced
I'm pretty sure that ness's neutral special is called PK pulse
Rewatching all these on the new channel! Hope it helps :(
Doesn’t captain falcons down air have both a spike and meteor hit box?
Yep
is this a re-upload ?
The original videos got taken down
felipo_ galaxy why ?
Because youtubr
2:23 is this announcer a toddler? "Fowad Aier"
Ah yes, the best kind of balance, the one that makes you main a character fully for a chance to get anecdotal wins where other characters would win consistently with less effort. Sure is a good and balanced competitive environment.
FOUND THE ULTIMATE PLAYER LUL
@@sibbyte he's right, yes the other characters can win, it only takes significantly more effort than the top 8 characters
@@GamingGod2000 having to really only master 8~ matchups is far more enjoyable and a true show of skill than ultimates 70+ matchups. How often do you see a random character upset a top level ultimate player or vice versa in melee? It never happens in melee but when it does it's hype. In ultimate you can literally lose because you've never played against a specific character and there is nothing you can do to prevent it
Sib
But the exact same thing happens in melee? Only reason you don’t see it as often if because people don’t actually play those lower tier characters because they striaght up aren’t viable. The game is also like 18 times as old so of course people will know matchups better.
@@sibbyte Found the 10 yo.
And tbf, if that happens to you, you are just not good enough, sorry to break it to you
"A skilled Bowser can beat any Fox."
Fun compilation but anecdotal evidence doesn't really support the claim that the game is well balanced. Like, it doesn't disprove it but this seems like a pretty small sample size and it's just contextually lacking to be a convincing argument.
The curation is nice though and I'd like to see more like this.
Might want to watch the Heeew video then bud
@@edgycircle457 I mean yeah it's totally broken but that doesn't make it balanced? Pretty sure he says the game is unbalanced im the video too so I have no clue what point you are trying to make other than that you agree with me.
mans really about to take this video to debate club
Let's make major tournaments with only D E F tier characters
Mewtwo is extra T H I C C
hungrybox offering amsa the hand shows how much of a good sportsman he is.
The very first one shows why this isn't true: DK player plays exceptionally well, and Professor Pro is playing pretty badly (compared to normal), and despite the clear output difference it still gets to a last stock situation, when imo if they were both playing good characters I think that DK player would've been up 1-2 stocks, if he played that well with a good character.
My only takeaway from that DK clip is why TF are the dudes rushing the stage for that win?
@@DiseasedCows Very late response but because its a Unranked Dk beating a top 100 Fox. Like that never happens
Yeh, melees balanced
Marth's grab range: *your going to Brazil*
Fox: I'm speed
Everyone else: pile of crap
Lol you think marths grab range is busted, you should see all his other moves they're all long range, crazy right so weird, must be a bug or something
TL;DR Skill > Tier
This video is a perfect example of skill vs tier picking
