Your jacket is adorable and I love that color. Thanks for your review. I’m so glad I found it, as I really like the shape and the partial lining. I would never have noticed the unique features without viewing your video.

Thank you so much! Glad you liked the video and found it helpful. I do want to make a light weight one later in the year, maybe out of linen or a light cotton twill. Their website showed a color block version that looked cute. I think that one had snaps on it. Happy sewing! 💕Lisa

I love your jacket! That red is so rich looking. I've been looking for exactly that jacket, except I want a zipper front. I've been looking for one like that for years and that pattern is the closest I've seen yet. So I think I will have to go with that pattern and just figure out how to do the zipper myself.

Thank you! I think it would look really cute with a zipper and the front lining would conceal the inside of the zipper. I think the trickiest part would be how the top of the zipper area would connect to the collar band. 🤨 Good luck and thanks for commenting! 💕 Lisa

Hi, I'm a fellow Arkansan and am enjoying your channel very much. Even though I grew up sewing with my mother, I didn't get a lot of machine time. I did all of her hand finishing and also remember all the hand finishing techniques written in the patterns back then. I'm still quite new to the garment assembly and machine sewing and your videos are very encouraging. Your Shacket is very cute. I love the color and details!
I didn't catch how wide the corduroy was, but if it's 56 inches wide, the smaller sizes of the Daphne Jacket by Vivian Shao Chen would work with 2 yards. It has a shawl collar designed to showcase the inner side. It's designed for outerwear and the finished sizes are quite generous to accommodate thick, heavy, or layered fabrics. I found the pattern while looking at options for a quilted jacket. The Bethany Lynne Makes blog had a detailed post on that and another post on the same pattern where she did it in a charcoal wool and drafted a facing for the shawl collar and lined it.

Nadina, thanks so much for watching and commenting! I'd never heard of that designer, but I just checked her out and I think that pattern would be perfect! The corduroy is 60" wide and I actually have 2.1 meters, so plenty of fabric. I'm thinking I might could use it also for that bulky sweater knit fabric I got from Mood since it doesn't have much stretch. I also loved her Nepheline Blouse and the Bisque Trousers. Do you know if she ever puts her patterns on sale? I signed up for an account. Thanks again, you just made my day! 🥰Lisa

@@thesouthernseamstress Thank you! Your presentation style is so informative and encouraging! I'm subscribed and will keep watching.
I love how she blends simplicity and femininity in her designs.
I'm new to her patterns too and I haven't seen a sale yet. I did buy the jacket at the regular price. The directions are very detailed with clear illustrations, but no photos. I'm not on Instagram, but I think I read that she has some tutorial content and interacts with her customers through that.

What kind of fabric are you going to make your jacket out of?

@@thesouthernseamstress I'm going to try it with a medium fleece first. If it turns out nice I can have it for a knock around jacket. If it's not I can cut it up for doll clothes for my granddaughter. I also have several yards of a denim look quilting cotton from Marshall's Dry Goods. I like the thought of a quilted jacket, but prefer a single fabric rather than a patchwork look. I found a fat quarter of a white, blue, and tan (low volume) fabric by Riley Blake the other day. If MDG has it when I get back up there, that would be lovely for the lining layer and perhaps a bamboo batting. A cotton lawn might be nice for that too. I'm not sure how I'd quilt it yet. I love hand quilting with perle cotton. It would be lovely in a delft blue or Valdani's verigated denim color. Just simple straight lines. If I do that, I'd need to trace the pattern on the exterior fabric, make the sandwich and quilt so I could hide anchoring stitches in the edges to keep the stitches stable when I cut out the pieces. Not sure how much it would draw up with quilting. The other option is to machine quilt with the S stitch on my machine. That would be much more stable to cut out and the quilting texture would be much more visible.
I'm looking forward to seeing your jacket. That's a beautiful fabric!

Thanks, I bet the fleece will turn out great. The quilted version sounds lovely, but too time consuming for me!😩 Happy Sewing, 💕 Lisa

Thank you for the video on the Shacket. I have the pattern and your tips and suggestions are much appreciated. I love the color of your Shacket. As to the button band, I don't know if I'd use snaps or buttons. I think snaps would look good but I've never done them so I'd have to figure them out. When I make my Shacket, I'm going to be extra aware of the button band thickness. As to the cream corduroy, look at the Style Arc "Wren Jacket". It's a boxy, simple jacket. It would look good to make the sleeves longer and turn them up to show the reverse of the corduroy.

Hi Judy, thanks for watching! I'll probably go ahead and do buttons, since I've never installed the snaps before. I would like to learn how to install them, so maybe I'll get some soon and start practicing! The Wren Jacket is cute, but I really want to showcase the fur side on a collar or a hood. I was looking through Fibre Mood patterns the other day and noticed the Dunya Jacket. I think it might work. Have you every made that pattern? 🩷Lisa

I've never sewn a Fibre Mood pattern but the Dunya jacket is very interesting for sure! It will look great in the corduroy fab ric@@thesouthernseamstress
