Heard these as a kid in West Germany as part of the British forces over there. So many memories of these bashing through the camp and roads. You show real passion and skill sorting it and its issues out. Thank you for making me smile from those memories and that there are people keeping them going!
Can I just say, your knowledge, expertise and dedication to getting these machines back up and running is astounding, thank you all so much. I used to mess about in the 432 when stationed in Germany and that engines sound brought back some fantastic memories 👍👍
Speaks to how good the engineering, design, materials and construction used were back then - in the middle of a battle, reliability was key. Well done.
Brilliant video, who else could sort out the poor running of the FGV432 with only a screwdriver. I am 80 years old, never been involved with the military but follow your channel avidly
Absolutely brilliant watch. I was in army and drove AFV432 Mark 2. In Germany late 60s early 70's. Bought back so many memories. Well done to you guys. Great 👍
High dynamic range- an expanded colour gamut for displays that are capable of displaying it. It allows deeper blacks and brighter whites which also allows a more accurate colour response. Aka should look more like what our eyes see rather than what exaggerated colours most older displays could reproduce ! Also your iPhone records in a much higher quality than most dedicated camera I would never have guessed you were using an iPhone !

So satisfying to see it run after the starter motor disaster. Although it looks like a bag of shite, tbf it’s complete and not wrecked. It’ll be nice to see it sorted (eventually). Great content as always
I remember these firing up in the early hours, in the German forests, along time ago whilst on exercise, a unique sound but when they started you new that we would soon be on the move. Great vids guys.
Yesterday was crappy and chuffin' cold. Maybe the iPhone was full for a reason. Today's video is a belter. Watching and hearing old kit like this brought back to life is fantastic viewing. Smiles all round and rightly so. Top job.
Kenneth Newman, former Chief Constable of the Royal Ulster Constabulary was so short that he always insisted on a cushion being provided whenever he did a seated TV interview! 😮😂
The extra tooth on the starter should help the engine turn over faster, in the car community that I belong to(Mazda RX8) it's common to use a starter with an extra tooth and this helps tremendously with the cranking speed(in a rotary compression is directly proportional to engine speed)
Friend of mine, who owned a Sherman at the time..said " there are only two types of people in the world..those that own armor..and those that wish they did"..LOVE THIS CHANNEL!
Boy! Is that 'power egg' a tight fit. As an apprentice I worked at J Sankey in Shropshire where the 432 final assembly took place and ! even had a ride in one on the test rack there. New with engines direct from RR they did not smoke at all but they certainly sounded the exactly the same. Well done. Now see if it still floats!
Excellent job.. Used to pack-lift these with an 8 tonne TM truck and a couple of army issue shovels.. Ahh the joys. Love this channel brings back great memories!
Brilliant. I reckon that motor will settle in, after all it's been waiting 13 years. I built an old 1947 Bedford 214 out of 3 engines, it took a little to settle in, then it was happy and ran for years until I sold the Truck.
That’s really cool how they got the engine in a contained area and not have to disassemble the whole thing to remove it. Things these days are way too over engineered/ complicated for something like this. Pretty happy that I came across this channel on here. I’m definitely going to be sticking around to see just what in all your doing. Have fun and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
That crook sound and smoke said an injector or pump element was sick. I worked on Rolls Diesels (C range) when I served my Apprenticeship 50 years ago . They ran a lot smoother than the Equivalent Leylands etc but not like a Gardner. The supercharger was always a test, if the rebuilt unit lasted 3-4 minutes on first start up,it was OK. I think that smoke is actually NATO option 666 ,Smoke effect.
Now thats the ultimate supermarket tractor !!!!!! You can keep your Dodge rams Ford rapters and Toyota Hilux . Great job Lads !!! Love from New Zealand 😉😎
Well done lads, it's a good job you have a sense of humour! 😁 I must say, Adam showed immense self control on the crane when you Joe, instructed Adam 'straight down!' I expected the pack to fall faster than gravity! 😁 There's light at the end of the tunnel, things look to be going well. Move any soviet equipment well out of sight! 😃
Spot on with your repair as you said as soon as she fired up she sounded right - i spent many hours working on these relics with a Royal Signals Squadron in Germany back in the early nineties. You grow to love them and feel a sense of bond with the beast when pack sound and steering set correctly she is a pleasure to drive
I love these videos. I have no knowledge of engines/tanks etc but just love watching how you get a mass of wires/metal and moving parts all working!!! It's captivating. where do you get your knowledge from?? you seem to know everything about these vehicles.
That new starter was so mint…. Lol love it. Sounded great after a fettle. Pretty nimble driving it around, not sure I’d want to be cooped up inside waiting to be let out into battle.
A success, great. One thing that crossed my mind was with so little clearance to drop the engine pack back in could they not have fitted guide rails, once it locates just drop it down and the rails do the positioning. I do think you should have gone to the pub in it though.
You gentlemen are amazing! I admire your finesse with these old diesels. Good health to each of you! This has been very entertaining and interesting. Thank you!
The smile on my face when that wagon came to life, was as big now as it's always been. Even more so hearing you rev it towards the end. That sound was great. A thrill... which usually means I need to get out more 🤣 That said though, the satisfaction when it restarted near the end on zero throttle was massive. Great job as always. Looking forward to seeing this one play out.
Like the auto extraction of dead exhaust baffles on start up! Remember humping 20 litres cans onto the roof to fuel up. They do have the ability to slide down grassy slopes with or without power! Sounds a slight knock on exhaust recollection is they sounded more hollow. Maybe a lack of baffles in exhaust.

Fantastic video. Very satisfying to see the FV432 running and easily starting. The end of the video was very funny. I was in a complete shit mood as I have to go in to the hell hole job but this video put me in such a better mood. Thank you for taking us along while you sorted things out.
That was genuinely interesting - as a non-mechanic seeing someone slip and gash themselves undoing something tricky in the engine whilst I sip my tea in comfort - it's better than anything I can find on TV. From bush to battlewagon, well done.
I love seeing you do this restoration, however, I hate working on armour! I used to work on 439 Radio Relays and 436 Command/staff wagons, I hate the grease, oil, batteries, panzer rash, you name it, this was also compounded with an autumn exercise in BATUS Canada to fully seal the fate of working on armour.
Memories of trade training on the 432 rigs at Bordon 1982, then pack lifting for real on the training area at Iserlohn circa 85 being watched by a load of laughing Bundeswehr! Happy times! 😂 Great videos chaps.

I believe in my heart that you can use clear windscreen washer hose shoved on top of the pump to match the element flows. Need some spare injector pipes to chop off though. I never tried it because it never came up. :o) (same as filling the rad with oil on a bad head gasket)
reading this and thought similar. I have 3 cheap water levels cut off near the measuring section located in a bit of wood with a spirit level bubble glued on it to keep them level and some ends off old hardlines to screw on the pump, so covers 6 pump elements with graticules on the fatter diameter for under 15 quid. Spin the engine over until the diesel levels are at a reasonable level and observe. The larger diameter of the measuring bit improves accuracy. This is pretty close to the measuring section of a oldschool diesel phasing and calibration rig that I was trained on at tech college many moons ago... I've bought a few old crappers and sorted the pumps out myself using it. That, a cheap popoff tare and spray tester for injectors and a bit of care and your away.
