99 Experimentals...probably my favorite modern coins (Obviously). My best tip for those who think they may have one of the two types WITHOUT a copper core: put it under magnification of 300-400x and check for the boxy, jagged metal structure of the Manganese Brass whereas gold will not only appear mirror-like, but gold under high magnification is more warty and globular. It's best to have it slabbed if you want to buy or sell but, if you prefer having one loose, magnification helps a lot.
@@mikerhodes5100 No problem :D. I did a few videos on the subject myself but they're not great and I still wouldn't suggest using them as a definitive source when it comes to buying or selling.
Nice video, Blueridge. Enjoy seeing other multi-struck state quarters. I purchased a triple struck Connecticut early this year, and I love it. Carry with me nearly everyday so I can enjoy.
I came across a 2010 dime that has i think machine, or plancet damage on the obverse , then on reverse. A very unique dime. I am so very new at this an not sure what to do next, and hope this is the first find like this one dime I have learned so much from you, so I became a member and hope a little advice. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, you have me hooked. And I love this hobby.
Hi Shaun😊 Once again ANOTHER FABULOUS VIDEO! Thank you for the Knowledge👑 The planchett thing sometimes confuses me but this helped clarify that (to me) alot more & I do believe idk if they're all Delaware but while sorting thru my quarters I SWORE that a few looked goldish or had that tint (I wrote them off as they were from a proof set) CONFUSION of course hurt my brain as I'm like wtf I have been sorting for too long I'm seeing things or she's just in her own little Coin World but HEY... NOW I'M NOT FEELING LIKE OH IT'S JUST IN MY HEAD DON'T EVER TELL ANYONE aha now I Might Have a Pocket full of gold rather a pocket converted to some Franklins lol they CAN'T laugh now lmao 😂 thank you so much for that clarification Shaun 💖 I TRULY needed to know that information🙏 (I'm in it for the LOVE of Coins & History not so much for the money a little money yes but that's not my ultimate goal) IF THEY'RE REAL & I SELL THEM THEN I CAN CONFIDENTLY SMILE & KNOW FOR MYSELF THAT MY OBSERVATIONS WERE CORRECT & THEN I'M ON MY WAY TO (MY ULTIMATE GOAL) OF BECOMING A RESPECTED TRUE COIN COLLECTOR💖 Your Loyal Entourage💱 Lauren⚘
Really something that such coins make it out of the mint if not given out of the mint. I'm after the experimental who knows it may grow. Liked your video
Yes and no. If there nothing outwardly visible that would lead you to believe there is something odd in there, there's really no reason to. On the other hand, the paper wrappers aren't "archival safe" and do contain sulfer. If improperly stored in fluctuating temperatures or high humidity the coins can get damaged in the original wrapper rolls. If evenvironmental conditions of your storage location can't be easily managed ( I'm in Florida with high humidity all the time) I'd remove them from the wrapper paper and put them in archival quality coin tubes for long term storage. Nothing worse than keeping coins for 20 years and finding out 20 years later that it got damp at some point, and the coins picked up back spots that destroyed the surface of the coins while sitting in the wrapper. If conditions are always dry and stable, not much to worry about though, worst case the 2 coins on the ends of the rolls tone and the original wrappers are ok to store in. I know of people using oversized coin tubes and putting their original wrapped rolls in them for their long term storage. That can work too.
you probably dont care but if you're stoned like me atm then you can watch pretty much all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my gf during the lockdown =)
I've got 11 of these 1999 quarters--- 6 of the 1787 Delaware, 2 of the 1788 Connecticut, and 3 of the 1788 Georgia, all with no errors. So sadly what I really have is 2.75 worth of coins that are about 21 yrs old! lol
So, if they aren't likely to be found in change, exactly how were they found then? Where are people supposed to get BU bags of coins? basically have to work at brinks in the rolling room and get the rejects from the rolling machines or something? I dunno. Those small bags they mint sells won't have them they do their best at quality control. These types of errors would come out of the monster pallet bags of coins for circulation distribution out of the press and into a bin and dumped in the shipping bag.
I have a 1983 penny that weighs 2.6 now everyone said that just zinc but in 42 60 69 they minted pennys on 2.6 planchts there have been blank planchet found error that were 2.6 copper and if u see the coin it doesn't look like zinc it has petina.its a great coin it looks more gold underneath than anything . Now they had expirementalnmetals also they expiremented with so could be tin nickel copper idk
Just my opinion on the subject. A while back the mint would strike coins then send them on pallets to the federal reserve banks. The Fed reserve banks would then break down the pallets into boxes of rolls and distribute to banks or armored carriers to distribute to banks. A couple decades back the Fed decided to outsource the break down to the armored carriers and downsize their staff. The armored carriers are receiving the pallets of coins now and they are handling the distribution, just with oversight from the fed reserve to make sure nothing goes missing, like a pallet of coins. In my opinion when the fed was doing it they were scrapping the really damaged pieces that were in the pallets and not saving them. Since the armored carriers are doing it now, I think the chances of these unrollable monstrosity errors that get ejected from their rolling machines are getting held on to instead of destroyed like the fed did, and that why more of them are turning up out there. I think pretty impossible for the mint to catch every problem coin that they are minting and dumping in bulk bins and pallets and out the door, while at the rolling stage of it for distribution they get weeded out and just since the armored carriers are handling that service now there much more chance the rejects get saved and get out there instead of destroyed like the fed was doing with them. Anyways that's my theory and opinion on the matter. The less extreme example wouldn't be rejected and would slip through, the more extreme ones have to have an explanation on how they get out there and this seems likely.
"Spitting horse" isn't a serious error or variety, it's an eBay gimmick to sell a coin with a minor die chip or minor die crack (die deterioration or wear in reality) for more money than its worth. Same goes for leaky bucket, snow on roof, pooping horse, ect.ect. People sell them, people buy them, it is what it is, there's a market for it, but you'd never see them at Heritage or Stacks and Bowers or any of the auction houses because that type of thing is considered die wear or damage and not an error, just something that happened before the die pair was retired and replaced with a new one.
aww...I thought I was gonna be varieties. how could you NOT notice one of these error coins? the 1999 PA proof 25c has a DDO, CT as DDRs, DE has several varieties, NJ has rotation errors and the peach on the GA 25c is not fuzzy. 1999 is a great year for varieties on lots of denominations.

Hello I have a 2015 same color experimental what do you think?
Just started collecting currency and today I found a 2000 New Hampshire state quarter and need advice on how to proceed.

It's hard to find a quarters like that I wish I can find one to put it in my collection
I found a 1991 penny with a P over D or a D over P. They didn't put a mint mark for philadelphia or P that year. Think it's worth something?
Really something that such coins make it out of the mint if not given out of the mint. I'm after the experimental who knows it may grow. Liked your video
You my fave shawn you have the best info and have a great way of telling it thank you. 💯🤘
I have a Delaware coin but it appears to be painted red white and blue on horse side found it on a 10 dollar quarter roll for my laundry
My God this is mind boggling to say the least. There's so much to look for!

Hello, question here. I have rolls that I got when they first came out. Should I finally open them to look for these errors?

If coins like those are not likely to be found in coin rolls, how are they to be found? And how are they getting out of the Mint?

My big question is the same as yours: how do these get out of the mint unless someone purposefully put it out...
