My favorite and preferred semi-automatic pistol is the 1911. The plain GI .45 version (mine is Springfield Armory). Had it for 18 years. My goal has always been to do more with less. No bells, whistles, rails, lights, camo, cerakote, etc. GI 7 round magazines. 75% of the time, I shoot one hand and more recently shoot using the Rex Applegate point shooting method which works surprisingly well.
Oddly enough, in recent years, I do not feel the .45 ACP recoil anymore with 230 gr ball 850-900 fps (unless I shoot Hornandy +P, which is certainly manageable).

I love the 1911, but I wouldn't carry one due to the capacity limitation. That's why all of my carry pistols over the past 3 years have been 2011s. A capacity of 15 or more rounds of 9mm, great ergonomics, and that always wonderful trigger. I have no desire to have a plastic striker fired pistol.

My gf who has arthritis in her hands runs a 1911 because it doesn't hurt her hands like a G19 (especially with +P) does.
Me with my tendinitis, I can't run any polymer 9mms because it just sucks to shoot after a magazine. 1911s, I can drop hundreds of rounds no problem.
Why? Because the impulse isn't a sharp torque upwards that a 9mm provides. The .45 is a slow firm push rearwards at a far lower chamber pressure.

I've watched a lot of videos of people shooting various types of guns. They all can go Bang Bang Bang really fast so no difference there. For the most part they seem completely equal. The only thing I've noticed is if a person is shooting a 1911 they go Bang clank Bang clank Bang clank Bang clank... In the videos of people shooting Glocks what they typically do is go Bang Bang Bang clank Bang Bang clank Bang clank Bang Bang. The Glock is maybe just as fast as the 1911 for most people. When youtube influencers are making videos that is what is important, they usually only video themselves shooting the gun they never show the target. If hitting the target becomes a factor, which it typically isn't for youtube influencers, then the Glock seems to fall way behind.
Later in the video you bring up a good point- the influencers will probably start shooting .22LR so they don't have to deal with recoil.
