The thing that really sets MT apart is his polyrhythmics. It’s the same reason Les Twins are so captivating. They’re hitting a 4 or 8 with their feet and hitting whatever other rhythms or accents are there with the rest of the body. Most poppers are locked into the 2 and 4, like you said. Also want to say I really appreciate your content because you’re out there. It’s refreshing to hear from someone that’s actually in the scene and going to these events. Keep it up man.
I got to see MT Pop in at Pop City UK 2020 just before Lockdown and his showcase was fire, and dropped alot of knowledge in his workshop. It's funny, when I first saw MT Pop win seven to smoke I said from his first round he's going to win. Mt Pop style has changed a bit. I liked his style when he won Groove N Move 2018. He had a great balance of getdowns, throwdowns, funk groove, and tricks. Sonya has leveled up in my opinion. She's always been great, but now she's reached the stratosphere. As for the lack of US hiphop dancers, the thought did not cross my mind, I guess because I'm always expected to see dancers from France and then Germany.

In term of the US and hip hop dancers I think you guys have 3 issues 1 There aren’t many solely hip hop battles , I keep saying America is not a country it’s a continent, and each country (state) in that continent basically has its own form of hip hop dance ( litefeet / jooking / flexing / turfing ). Yes, I know it’s not hip hop freestyle but from my knowledge the original location of hip hop freestyle dance is New York and that is now the home of litefeet. If not for the fact that the international community still competes and makes money with hip hop freestyle, I believe that no one in America would actually dance this style, unless for choreo for stage shows or classes. 2 The US is continually pushing new styles, this isn’t a bad thing but it’s hard for a tree to have deep roots when it’s always growing new branches, and with some of those branches having figured out how to monetise their battles with the internet age ( flexing / jooking / litefeet) and those styles being very trick focused which helps win in all style battles it makes sense people try learn as many of those styles as possible. 3 I barely hear of any battles happening and when I do its usually all styles , which makes sense you want to get as many people involved as possible(from an event organiser POV and a party POV) but that in turn makes people focus not on the foundation of the style but how to best win the crowd and judges with tricks and moves. Maybe there are lowkey ones that happen and they don’t get posted, but you can’t be known if you are not seen. In terms of the dancers you do have Jay K ( dude lives in japan now ) Brothe E Prince Wayne KCE KeithDaGod 2 of them are Canadian and Brother E and Prince Wayne are more afro /house dancers Nfinite K’niin Tyler Da Creator are on the rise tho If all goes well and WW3 doesn’t happen I think 1 more ass kicking in FFS will wake yall up 🤣

Id say MT is also very technical, you can check out some of his rounds in shirofes comp in japan. I think it depends on the music and how hes feelin if he wanna go technical or funky and fun wit it. Props to sonya too tho, her control is def impressive.
