I always get so emotional when I see this clip. Very powerful! How loving is our Lord! When the Roman guard sees Jesus, he knows, he just knows this man is a very special and doesn’t dare to do anything to him! Our Lord is so loving… What a powerful clip! Thank you Jesus for loving us that much! Jesus is Lord… Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!🙌🏻❤️🙏🏻
The look on the centurions face when he comes face to face with Jesus. He knows he's facing power, unspeakable but restrained power, but can't quite put his finger on what it is or why it is, it just IS, and isn't to be trifled with. So he backs down, but will never know why. Brilliantly played!
They say he is a Decurion (ten men not 100), but yes indeed - Remington Olmstead produces some of the best acting anyone has ever seen - so many facial expressions in a matter of moments. The crew got a bit grumpy because William Wyler insisted they all wait for Remy to be driven up from Rome, which took hours. The man rarely acted again after this, and set up a cafe in Rome to serve visiting film crews. It was close to The Vatican, but also to the catacombs where the first Christians (often as martyrs) were interred. Charlton Heston's bio cannot even remember the actor's name ... while admitting he stole the scene, and probably the whole movie!!! This is what the Holy Spirit does to help us see...
Tihs is exactly the water of life. Everyone wants it and needs it. Don't worry. You will be able to drink it as much as you want. Because he will be with you before you notice him.
@@balrogthane i dont know. If anything it seemes the guilt and shame of his actions was weighing down on him in that moment. Hell certainly never forget the encounter.
Yes, Remington Olmstead somehow managed to convey multiple emotions through a host of expressions. Except the "somehow" is through the Holy Spirit, raiser of human artistic talents to transcending heights. As an when He chooses to do that, of course, in the service of His great goal and mission. He blows where He will...
Most of the time it's on TCM which is not part of my cable package. I'll rent it from the library if available. I think it's a must Easter movie to watch. Also 'The Robe'.
Just give up.. Stop being yourself.. Fall to your knees... And consider yourself fortunate... And if the encounter doesn't change you, you are beyond redeeming
I’ve often wondered what it must have been like to look into the human eyes of the Master of all Creation….the King of all Existence. The “stare” from the real Ruler, stops this macho soldier dead in his tracks.

Oh blood and water that gushed forth from the heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us I trust in you. For the sake of his sorrowful passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Notice how Jesus provides great hope and comfort but doesn't swoop in and rescue or "save" Judah from his own difficult life challenges...call it karma or fate if it suits you.
That's the role God plays. He'll help you, but in His wisdom He won't do everything for you because if He does you'll never do anything for yourself. "God helps those who help themselves."
@@wayneantoniazzi2706 I think he intervenes so to speak at his pleasure not at our need. This is why non-believers question why he does not save children from cancer, death and so on. It's not for us to question these things but to lean on him even more in our time of need.
That’s a great point I thought about that too. So many times God doesn’t deliver us from the struggle, but He will deliver us and provide strength within the struggle.

This has to be the same Centurion servant that Jesus healed his other servant before because Jesus showed mercy on him
And the way he has to look back again like what WTF was that?!
Heston said in his biography it was the greatest display of acting he ever saw.
@@jogman262 High praise indeed!

I thought I read also he was a stuntman too.
Judah Ben-Hur collapsed in burning thirst and utter despair and pleaded, "God help me."
And He did.
Charlton Heston's best masterpiece scene ever.
It was a Carpenter, a local Carpenter that gave Ben Hur the water...
He always does.
Wonder how many millions if not billions at some point despaired and pleaded "god help me" 😢...
That's all we need to do. Ask God to come into our lives.
Has anyone ever noticed that the water Jesus gave Ben Hur never ran out?
I didnt know that
Yes I did. This is my favorite scene in the entire movie.
Wow did not recognize that. Thank you for pointing out.
Jesus says in the Gospel of John that he is the living water.
The greatest scene in the history of cinema. William Wyler was a genius.
Charlton Heston’s greatest performance ever as Ben-Hur.
Every time is automatic when I see this part of the movie tears comes from
Eyes ,he give him life to continue …
I always loved this movie as a kid. One time My community played it on a projector it was great but being an adult now I love this movie even more.
My Favorite Part (I have tears in my eyes) 👍
So, it's not just me.
Yes, every 50 times😂😂

Incredible scene !
Great time to watch Nefarious. At the end...the same words, the same love ❤❤
Ben Hur the movie with wonderful soundtrack
I came here because I was watching a Western with a similar musical soundtrack and it made me think of the movie.
JESUS KING OF KINGS !! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢FOREVER MAJESTIC!! 👑👑👑👑👑

Si
Jesus siempre está cuando lo llamamos.
When Ben Hur took a good look at Jesus's face, he noticed that Jesus was not an ordinary person.
The greatest scene in the greatest film before or since
What a movie....what a scene
The Centurian seeing Jesus’ Face does a triple take. He will never withhold Water from a Soul again.
Everyone who meets Jesus will either love Him and obey Him, or reject Him. From that last glare, I fear the centurion chose the latter path.

What's really sad is that they don't show these movies around Christmas time or Easter as much as they use to years ago.

I read the book in a paperback that I got for 25 cents. Every time I turned the page, the page broke off. This is a great story.

The last look is almost one of shame.
Ben Hur's expression on seeing Jesus is one of contentment. He then touches the hands of jesus

Such a great movie! To cut these scenes from the remake was disgraceful!
They should have never had a remake. Some movie should be untouchable, like this one.
