    the meta context of the line: "they're all numbers to you. but what you think of as zeroes and ones are actual people! they've already been touched by someone's will; they've been reanimated!" just hit me. clara is talking about the the other two focusing on the numbers of death and infection, but also literally talking about the function of the game. we, the player, see the townspeople as data and pixels, but they were brought to life by programmers and modelers and writers who inherently left a piece of themselves behind in doing so. who are you, as a Player, to say they aren't real people just because they exist in a "game" (or a game inside a game if we're running with patho 1's twist-on-a-twist ending)
    this game never ceases to take my breath away, and it's because of artists like you that i get to jump into little bits of the story without getting bogged down by the never-ending dread of it all (two completed imago runs and this game still causes me so much stress when i play it lmao) so thank you!!! this is excellent

    Holy shit I love this. The animation is wonderful, and the dialog... It feels like a group of actors playing the same scene again, some bits are remembered ("just let me") but there is improv, more. ("Just let me go") these characters feel like they have done this before, similar, but not the same as the opening act of patho 1. These are people who know the ending, and how to get there. The inclusion of death tolls is brilliant, Dankovsky and Art feel like they are discussing how terrible it is that *so many* have died, while Clara is discussing how so many *have died*. As she is the one healer that knows more about the situation, she is angry that the others are looking at this like a *game of strategy with numbers.* This convo made me believe that while patho 2 is a remake, it is also a sequel. This isn't a remake convo with the same context, this is *the healers discussing doing it again. They have done this, and will continue.*
    It's also facinating that the favorite healer of the powers that be has the most lines the same. Like they cared more about her dialog last run. Or, she perhaps just remembers it better.
    I also think in patho 2 the healers know about TPTB (they are everywhere) and this is them discussing how stupid and morbid this game is to them. It's the same characters from patho 1, but the lines are just so much more depressing. Like they know not just the ending of the town, but are forced to play still. Fucking beautiful.
    Sorry im v tired lmao

    I like to think the 8 people Artemy adds to the death toll at 1:44 are people he “borrowed” organs from.

  • @JabamiLain

    I just feel like the original conversation is more realistic. There, they are discussing about the town and the best course of action each of them thinks it's best, just as they are thinking about their place in this living town.
    But in the new theatre sequence, they look like they're simply in a philosophy class talking about their beliefs.

    • @thigikna
      @thigikna  2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Well it is in a dream sequence in the Patho 2.

    • @lilacpen8678
      @lilacpen8678 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      I don't think either's intention is "realistic."
      The HD originals tone is intentionally performative, each character sounding like they're reading from a script. What's being said in said conversation might be more realistic in the HD original, but the tone is far more realistic here.
      Honestly, this reminds me of how so many swore by the first translation, despite it being nigh incomprehensible, because they felt it better suited the tone of the game.

      I don't believe you can really compare them? This feels more like a continuation of the patho 1 scene. These people know the ending, tptb, and have a slightly changed opinion on the plauge now that they have already lived it.
      Idk, i truely think this is more of how the characters react if they know the ending. Clara with more desperation after her lines, Art is more connected with his surgeon side then the "i will not kill, and screw the others" in the first game. And Daniil is still cocky, but he isn't spouting pure BS. He knows the brain can make protections and that while blood and touch is important its not a answer like he thinks his vaccines are. They are the same lines, but with changes bc this is a different context. Clara full says her lines, then changes the meaning bc she knows that her actions will lead somewhere.
      I read this as the characters doing the same scene, but with improv and different context *after* the events of the first game. I don't think it's a remake

    Some people say about this exchange "being less realistic", but is it really that important? We are talking about the Pathologic (almost) series, series, where the first game was basically a theater perfomance, as I like to interpret it. The "reality" aspect is barely usable when we are talking about The Town on Gorkhon River, place where Polyhedron exists.

    So... this entire thing is a morbid game created by children who feel the need to play God and in control after witnessing death for the first time ? And we, the player, are both their playmates and dolls ?

    I wished I could play the real deal on PS4. The actual first game. Because simply trying to watch it on TH-cam...it takes all of the fun out. Then again, trying to see it on TH-cam can allow me to have a more cinematic perspective of the three characters and their stories.
