My fav competitive Pokémon has always been Metagross, I still use him on my team as a choice scarfed ground Tera EQ sweeper, it helps him get around his usually good typing that actually sucks right now against most of the top picks 😢
Tbh Blood moon was still a thing when urshifu was running around,that didn't stop it from winning regionals It's probably gonna be back once people find the right composition

It's a sniper that can either work as a trapper of Steel types roaming around or it can go Analytic and destroy every Haze user and hard walls Amoonguss. Fun fact: Analytic Choice Specs Flash Cannon Magnezone does 101.9% MINIMUM to Sylveon. How many Pokémon can say they can OHKO a Sylveon on the special side?
Not that I’m good at vgc, but I did peak at rank 600 something on the ladder this season, and speaking of those “prove me wrong Pokémon”, so far using froslass as a support Pokémon worked surprisingly well for me on my rank 600 team. I’m curious if anyone else has found success with that mon!
@@Blue_Ark yes a wide lens froslass with a covert cloak Tauros with EQ, rockslide, raging bull and protect. I usually just eq and sacrifice my froslass after turn 1 for a free switch to flamigo
I accidentally submitted my team with the wrong Tera on gastrodon for this upcoming competition. Woops. But fire Tera and fairy Tera gastrodon have carried a ridiculous number of games for me. I'm using a sun team, and bringing archaludon and gastrodon have won almost every time. The only issue I've had against rain has been an occasional ghost attack from basculegion
I think scyther can be moved up to the niche tier due to one hitting 52th making day 2. Statwise it is good enough with a 110 attack stat and a highly valued 105 speed stat outpacing the likes of even garchomp and delphox able to throw out those technician dual wingbeats which is basically a 2 hitting brave bird and what was shown on stream with the two coverage moves of cc and technician thief, it has the options to hit the big steel types for some damage. Mons with a good flying stab option are very hard to come by as they are either weak statwise or rely on tera to gain a flying move so to have that mon with a strong flying move that can bypass sash while having a solid attack and speed stat can be worth looking into, whether you run it like vijay with the eviolite, or larp as a flying type urshifu with focus sash 252/252
My heart broke when I realized my boy Hydreigon just doesnt fit that well in this format when considering the top tiers. Its only unique selling point is being the strongest Snarl mon which paired with AV is nice.
As a perma Dondozo player, many of the more lower rated mons are a nightmare. Gallade with Sacred Sword + Sharpness, Wide Guard, Grass Tera leaf blade Sinistcha being an absolute wall Murkrow with priority haze Hydriegon with Focus Energy + Redirector I know dozo isnt the best, I just think its fun to run. Just wanted to share some insight into the use cases of lower ranked mons
dondozo is super intresting, i gurantee you that eventually people are gonna stop respecting it in this format, and stop fitting haze/other dozo counters. then its gonna win a big regional and people will be reminded how it can run through teams with no counterplay. in a way its similar to sun/psyspam/hard trick room teams. if your team isnt prepared then no amount of skill can save you.
@SableyeVGC idk, being able to force Goldhengo and Incen to swap or die instantly and being immune to intimidate just makes my rank climb so fast. But maybe in live tournaments and best of 3 it's different. But online everyone keeps bringing out incen and or gold straight from the jump.
it definetly has potential but it dosent really have the stats to be in S tier. it has a lot of tools but 60 speed just isnt very good. its not low enough to be an actual trick room threat but not fast enough to justify investing EVs into it.
@@Rylozu1767 trick room is a good strat but its not a perfect solution to every slow pokemon, H decidueye dosent really have the stats to be a trickroom sweeper. for hard trickroom teams, the sweepers need to be something like torkoal throwing off 150bp stab sun boosted eruption, or bm uraluna with high power hyper voices, great bulk and the ability to nuke something if needed. or armarouge with 156bp stab expanding force with follow me support from indeedee. H decidueye dosent have the tools and stats to be a trickroom sweeper, it can probably function in a farigiraf team with both tailwind and trickroom. but its not always reliable H decidueye is definetly not a bad pokemon but its not S tier (or even A tier) material
As Trick Room lover who's ranking is always between 1600 and 1750 in Showdown I must say that Blood Moon Ursaluna is the BEST trick room DPS in Gen 9, however ........ most players have no idea of what to pair it with other than Farigiraf. Blood-Moon Ursaluna is S+
Why is pairing it with fairgiraf making its ranking lower than it should be? I feel like farigiraf is a great trick room mon. I don’t see why it’s so low either… But anyways, who would you recommend instead? Indeedee? Or a use a fast Bloodmoon with a tailwind user like Whimsicott?
@@Rylozu1767 Farigiraf is a must have in the team when playing with Blood Moon Ursaluna but I personally tend to have 2 trick room setters and the other option tends to be more valuable such as: 1. Oranguro 2. Dusclops Depending on which one you pick the item for Ursaluna changes and so does the strategy.

If it’s paired with maushold, redirection beside a big attacker works pretty well. In front of to the scarf ones, it’s very nice to be able to protect and scout out final gambits. This should work as a general concept. That being said, it is a very good pokemon, so even with proper answers and a good game plan it’s still possible for it to outperform the common counters.
@@SableyeVGChow much of that is all the ursaluna in top 8? Rilla can still be good if able to counter that check. I think people are just using it wrong. They’re treating it like reg G support when it deal disgusting damage itself

Baltimore regionals changed that, there were like 6 incins in top 8 and 0 rillaboom. Rillaboom is very good, but incin seemingly is better right now

I wish hax was used more, he OHKOs arch with outrage even if arch is a +2 defense. And earthquake does almost 100% without Tera ground.
