  • Singapore Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan has told Israel's leaders that its military actions in Gaza have "gone too far". He added that Singapore will continue to help where it can, but should not have "unrealistic expectations" that peace will come quickly to the region.

Did u all fail maths. The number of deaths during the conflict from 1948 to now is not even close to the number who died in the hallocast. And stop glorifying or victimising them the Palestinians are the ones who drew the 1st blood at every conflict and the repercussions they are facing now is like the ripples after you throw a stone in a pond.

SIngapore is right, thier action is gone too far. 300 to 500 Jounalist killed in "accidents" , hospital bomb, fake video of nurses, fake military operation found thier base name" the calender", 32000, - most kids and women killed, people captured and kidnapped prison before Oct 7, eing inside an Open-air prison and now settlers have plan and also have raid homes and majority of homes are carpet bombed, fake rumors spreading of babies and people killed - this was even said in the isreal media that it was not true and no photos or video as proclaimed and if you want to say about crimes they are many committed before, direct bomb 4 people walking. so their action as gone too far, you tell me.

The problem here is really that the weapons Israel is using are not single target weapons. Area of effect weapons, for lack of a better term, don't hit a person, they hit a place, and everyone in that place dies, guilty or innocent. Hamas is using such weapons to, but they are not dropping massive bombs that kill hundreds of people in one shot, the vast majority of which are civilians. It's often said by Israel that Hamas is hiding behind civilians and thus are responsible for civilian casualties, but in reality Gaza is such a densely populated city that setting up positions anywhere involves civilian presence. If the world is to stop the slaughter of civilians by the thousands or millions in every war we must agree on ways to avoid civilian casualties totally. It may even be necessary to ban such weapons globally, but obviously that would infringe on national sovereignty. It really isn't up to the US alone, civilized nations may need to adopt this policy individually, but it will come at a massive cost in military effectiveness if the bans aren't universal.

If Hamas knows that setting up positions anywhere in Gaza will involve civillian casualties, why did they still provoke Israel into a war? Is it because Gaza civillian deaths are part of their strategy for survival?

    • @ren2871

Gaza doesn't even rank in the top 50 in population density. Israel only critically damaged or totally destroyed 12% of buildings in Gaza, the mapping shows it hit where Hamas has its Battalions, rocket launchers. It conducted over 23,000 strikes at Hamas infrastructure and currently the death toll stands at 32,000+ according to Hamas' unreliable numbers, which grossly underestimate how many men died. Let's say of those 32,000, 14k are Hamas fighters, you're looking at a 1.2 to 1 ratio of civilians to combatants death rate, unprecedented in modern urban warfare. Israel conducted 23,000+ strikes with complete air superiority to kill a measly 32,000? Hamas killed at a rate of 200/ hour with no jets, Israel killed an average of 8 people an hour since the war began. No other military drops leaflets and warns before striking targets.

You can nowadays actually know more enough to comment. The thing has been going on for 75 years in Palestine - and if not the most well-documented case now of genocidal acts and killing spree. Had the world cared and put more pressure on Israel, the spoiled rotten child of UK & US wouldn't have gotten so big headed to do what it wants, how he wants it and get away with everything all the time.
Think of it like this; you see one healthy kid bullying, picking on a much smaller kid, you don't know them but the one bullying sure had a bigger physical advantage over the bullied. You, as someone with reasonable compassion and common sense, you wouldn't try to interfere to stop what you were seeing just because you don't know enough? Or would you step in coz it doesn't seem like a fair fight at all?

You’re Muslim I take it. To mix religion and politics is a recipe for disaster. Your Muslim brothers and sisters are suffering in Gaza. They have our sympathy, but we shouldn’t insist that our politicians support the Palestinian cause. It will create ‘religious disharmony’ in Singapore.
Christians are persecuted in Somalia, Liberia and Eritrea, should we put pressure on our politicians to stand up against these countries in the UN?
Furthermore, we are only hearing ‘narratives’ from social media about what’s happening in Gaza. Nobody really knows the facts on the ground.
