    This video means a lot to me. Today I decided to drop out of school ( with a solid backup plan of course and I actually know what I exactly want to do later) to take a break and then continue with studies. I am not the smartest and most gifted student but I always give my best. My marks are fairly good and I really excellent at pretending like I am ok. But I am not. I have to write at least three test per week while preparing for presentation and other assignments. I am completely burnout, but I feel like I’m ungrateful and just too fragile. See my father grow up with war in vietnam and my mother in poverty and both of them work really hard. I have a toxic relationship with them and they’re also really asian-tiger parents like. All that guilt for being a privileged daughter and someone who has the opportunity to go to school, but decided to drop out makes me really anxious and emotional numb at the same time. I AM FINE . I AM OK LIKE EVERYONE. It’s so lonely here i at home and in school. So now the school keep trying to change my mind about dropping out. I know they just meant well. But something inside of me feels so broken and shallow and I have a whole meltdown. School gives you the stress and then demand you to keep going. Why ? I feel really conflicted. I also have avoidant personality disorder, because of the emotional neglect and trauma I experience at home. This disorder makes it hard for me to go to school because of the constant fear of being not good enough and the fear of humiliation. Just because I drop out doesn’t mean I gonna sit lazy at home doing nothing. I have the burnout because I am always busy doing things for school and family. As an child of immigrant parents I feel like I am a failure. I am sorry I am sounding like I am a spoiled and privileged girl but really I’m trying hard not to fall apart.

      You're not spoiled, please don't call yourself like this. If you want to take a break from studies that's completely fine. Meanwhile you can find a simple job (it can even be part-time to let you rest) and support yourself financially. I wish you all the best 😊 . I can understand you.

      Baby, it’s okey that you dropped out. You’ve been carrying this burden since so long i cant imagine how tired you must feel.
      And just cause your parents lived a different reality doesnt mean you dont have the right to feel tired, stressed, sad or any of that for your “simplier life” you are a different individual carrying so much troubles that dont belong to you plus school is really hard, adding the world situation. You are definitely not spoiled.
      Now take the time to rest, heal yourself, give yourself so much love, do thing that make you happy, go out, have fun. Then when you are on a better place youll be able to know what you want to do next. Take it easy on you babe, you are doing great and youll be okey.

      My parents aren’t like that at all but I still 100% understand the feeling you have. I’m really privileged in life, my dad’s a doctor so we never have money troubles. We’re not rich, but we’re comfortable, so I feel awful that I struggle so much to enjoy life. My problems are nothing compared to those who have so much less than me.

    This was like such a therepeutic video .. I guess i was kinda feeling burnt out as i was forcing myself to get 5 to 6 hrs of sleep since the past 2 weeks as i needed to study more for my finals .. But it's been so counterproductive and exhausting .. Gonna change it to solid 7 hrs of sleep from today . A good day to anyone reading this❤️

    I needed this. I burned myself out by taking 3 courses, a phlebotomy class, being a biology tutor, and working part time at a donut shop. I felt bad telling any of my bosses “no.” when they ask me to work extra days. I finally told my manager from my donut shop that I need a break. I also told my manager from my college that I want to do online tutoring sessions instead as it takes less time to get ready and drive 30 minutes back and forth. I now feel so much better and I’m ready to focus back on my education rather than working too much. Thank you so much!

    man I just knew i needed this by seeing it on my recommended. I have been stressing for the past 2 months probably. My fam would tell me to stop doing so much stuff and do shit I enjoy.. which was what I was doing and being in theatre but everyday rehearsal was just AHHH and I haven't done electives since freshman year cause my schedule was f'd up so its all new to me again and I've always stayed up till like 3 am everyday doing work but even with that, I still just gts and don't finish. I wouldn't do chores, nor shower at night and only do it in the mornings, and cause of this thing I have about being clean, ill end up sleeping on the floor or couch and not nice in my bed. I try to do stuff for myself and say if I cant do it its fine imma just gts but I have this thing about late work and failure and it makes me feel like shit when these teachers call out "you had a whole class period to do it so if u didn't finish, think ab what u were doing" like bitch my brain melts in everyclass and I simply cant anymoreeeee. and its not like I can say welp I'm done ion wanna do it.. cause I FR CANNTTTT. Like this academic validation or grade ego KILLS ME

    I've been struggling with whether or not to take a gap next semester and just work because I've had such big motivation issues and burnout this year. Watching this video reminded me I can take it slow and taking less classes will definitely help. I'm still undecided, but I've got some ideas on the direction I want to take now :)

    I’m pretty late to this video but I’m in my last year of training as a therapist and this whole video explores such valid and important points to do with lifestyle and mental health.     Hey, Rebecca did, thank you so much for this video and especially today. My board exams are knocking at the door and I am just trying so hard to complete the syllabus and also to revise, but today I just did nothing productive except doing 2 hrs of maths and watched some programming videos(as I suck in the computer). I literally don't know why I am feeling like just laying down and sleeping (which I did more than my to-do list timings) and also to draw, which is all I am doing for the rest of the day. I don,t know how to be positive about this day but I am just trying to be ok with it.
