They're one of those rare bands that are a "live band". They make sense when you watch them play live. So much raw emotion that can't be captured on a record.
Just one minute into this song, and I think they're my cup of tea! And it's due to a headline in an email from The New Yorker that I came here. The headline reads, "Squid is a Band with No Rules; That's Why Their Music is So Weirdly Listenable." I didn't even read the article, though I might. The headline really captured all I needed to know.
That's artistry at it's best. Watching and listening to these guys give me the same feeling when I heard back in the 70's for the first time such tunes as Achilles Last Stand, Xanadu, War Pigs or Echoes, etc...get my drift? Point is, these dudes rock and I can feel their artistry and expression.
😆 is nice to see Dan Carey playing. For those who don't know he's behind some of the most interesting releases in the UK postpunk/experimental scene lately (Squid, Fontaines DC, black midi' and Black Country New Road' debuts, Goat Girl' second album)
this band is just unfathomably good. The high I am now on after that last 60 seconds of Pamphlets... im off to spend shitloads of money on tickets to as many shows as I possibly can. Heads up boys, yeah
sooo amazing....my absolute favorite song at the moment...and i just recognizing the drummer is the one smashing this furious volcals. lover for you mates!
@@ravenkliff I personally wasn’t too crazy of the singles, though I did like their KEXP live. It was really well made. And even the singles sounded better live. But idk I’m not feeling it as much as I am with squid.
Yep👍 I thought this was real cool, but I feel the guitars are too clean for his screaming vocals, like the guitars need to be heavier on the distorted side mostly, and then clean it up every now and again when his vocals aren't so screamy..know what I mean? I like this band, very talented group of boys!

Damnnn I didn't know the singer was the drummer. That energy!
I wasn't expecting that...
It's absolutely amazing
Soooooooo impressive!
Ha ha ha! Spot on.
Beats Phil Collins.
First time I heard his voice I thought it was a bit goofy, now it gives me chills. So expressive and unique.
same here!
Same, in some songs works really well!
heard him on a radio interview and his natural talking style is really deadpan - but when he sings - wow!

imagine if this had boiler room or kexp's mixing, would be stratospheric
Fuck that mate imagine if they had AUDIOTREE mixing, oh my lord
Imagine if their guitars were in tune 🤯
@@amishabe8085 lmfao
just wait for it my dude
Soon...
I didn't know music could sound this good
I mean I really dig this band but where have you been? 🤣
It would be a dream to see the lads live, absolute units.
Saw them at print works in London on the 23rd of September and it was apocalyptic

The energy of this performance hurts my balls. You are brilliant
Dan Carey you are one of Squid! Thank you for your part in this whole movement!
I'm all about bringing their dad on with them.
Old guys rule?

Those last 30 seconds is what music is all about.
The seven people to dislike this track must have been searching for calamari.
And were unable to see the truth. Calamari is for sure in here!
i didnt like it because its dumb and i think coldplay are much better
I could listen from 6.40 onwards on repeat forever.
Band of the year!!👏👏👏

So nice to see Dan playing with them!
Saw them 4 years ago in Brighton.
Mesmerising since day 0.

I'm gobsmacked. Why where they not selected to play at Eurovision???
Televised music contests are where music goes to die
Eurovision is below these guys.
Squid's style is independent!
Because this is Music.... not business.. Maneskin are only business
Fantástico!!!!

It has to be a long, long time ago I have felt this much hype for a new album!
Can't wait to listen to the whole thing nonstop!
The double cowbell assault in the final minutes is simply too much to handle
Somewhere Mark E Smith is looking down and smiling

Came across this on Wednesday. Must have listened to it a dozen times since. Awesomeness! :)

Finally the band has gotten popular enough that ollie can afford a rack tom

Well, if Ollie went outside more often, he might find some deals at local music shops on drums... Just saying.

Saw the secret gig at Green Man this weekend. At the front, never heard them before. Highlight of the entire festival for me!🎶🎸
A singing drummer and a lefty guitarist, unusual but I love your music
