Nice car and great video. But when Volvo limits this car to 180 km/h, a speedometer that can go up to 260 km/h looks for me a bit ridiculous.

Глупость полная об ограничении! Езжу на Xc60, до 229 разгончлся без проблем и чувствуется, что далтне больше, просто чувство самосохранения срабатывает! Лучший авто и не хрен сравнивать BMW с 350 лошадями. Вещи не сопоставимые! Это как путать тёплое с мягким!

Same sentiment from my side. I will not buy a(ny) Volvo with a forced speed limit. I know, it doesn't matter all that much but it's a silent protest against this kind of patronization, which seems to become more and more common these days.

My Golf 8 1.0 Petrol engine does 200kmph at 4k rpm, where the rev limiter is set at +- 6,5k (never gonna reach the limiter but anyway :D )

Xc 90 is a beautiful car. The exterior and interior just amazing. Understand why volvo puts speed limit on their cars. Yet personally would never get one just due to the limit, funny thing I don't drive faster where I live than 160kmh
Amazing? It's so noisy. It's a top Volvo car and it has a terrible amount of noise in the cabin.
Compare it to BMW X5 for example, not even comparable - BMW is completely quiet inside.

@kordax mint He’s driving the sport version (T8 Recharge R-Type). The luxury version (Inscription) is WAY quieter, specially in “pure”, i.e. all-time electric mode
I have an XC90 T8 Inscription, and have reached 187 kph with 6 people on board, for short stretches (e.g. passing another car). Revs never went above 4000 rpm, using Hybrid mode. Never have driven in the “Power” setting this colleague drove in the video. Indeed, I was not aware that speed was limited, since I rarely drive that fast on the Autobahn, but I’m quite confident that they’d go happily above that mark, for sure

I just wanna tell you all, this dude have the care key.
The care key has an option to limit the speed. If you use the standard key, theres no real limit on how fast you can go.
And even if there was a speed limit, lets be honest. Its a family SUV that focusing on saftey. Not a sports SUV like Porsche Cayenne or Lamborghini Urus.
I don't think it's fast but the rate at which it gets there is impressive. Also it feels so stable above 100 mph. I love my T8. Best car I've ever owned.... Until it breaks of course. 😂

One thing to keep in mind before buying a volvo T8! If it is out of juice ,
and you wanne use full power it will use petrol to recharge the battery. And trust me when I say this. It drains fuel like a v12
197 with mine and would say still could go more, maybe only some countries or year versions have such limits. Mine is originally from Belgium.

The XC90 T8 is amazing but the only thing that would refrain me from getting one is the speed limiter... Then I'd rather go for an X5, GLE or Q7
it takes a service man 2 min to remove it.. i have a v90 T8 and it do 220km/t ++ (The fastest i have gone with it)

Battery is discharged, so likely not much help from the 145HP electric motor. Would be nice to see this test again with fully charged battery.
There are accually about 20% left of the battery even if it says it's "empty". So I think it would not be a big difference between a full and an empty battery.
Back to school and learn how hybrid works.. lol
@@andersnielsen6044 I know that with my XC90T8, the battery discharges fairly quickly when I use full power specially in a hill at high speed. Knowing the XC90 does not have an interplanetary system like Toyota/Lexus and the electric motor goes in the rear axis only, I understand if the battery does not have enough energy left, there is not much power from the rear tires, right? I think the 20% or so in the battery is non usable. If I remember well from my battery engineer times, it is used to protect the battery for deeply discharge or to release more capacity over time by software like Tesla does to compensate battery capacity wear, but I can be outdated on the topic. :)

The T8 will always have 400 hp available, when in Power mode, no matter how much the battery has.
@@davidhan5593 This would mean the ICE generates enough power for itself and to keep the battery up for the electric engine also at full power, which sum up 400hp/298kW (or 450hp in the new model) However, the ICE only generates 313hp (233kW) per the specs, so… unless one has another power source, once the battery is depleted, I dont know from where the electric engine would be fed if the ICE is already fully busy.
I had a V90 which is an extremely beatuful car. But I would never drive a Volvo again because of the speed limit. I'm from Germany.

I'm from Ukraine, and when was buying my V90 Cross Country I was told at dealership that the limiter can be legaly removed without warranty loss only in Germany at Heico

You can disable the speed limiter according to their website.
i believe not... there are some aftermarket software solutions but i am very sure they will invalidate the factory warranty. it is not like AMG drivers packag, that you pay some cash and the manufacturer removes the limit... this one is for safety purposes only... to be honest, absolute deal breaker for me

Nope, POWER mode will charge automatically to maintain an EV range of about 5 kilometers, under all circumstances. I never put it in charge, unless I want to drive EV close to my destination in the city.

Meine 2017 Volvo V90 T6 AWD mit Polestar Engineering 334PS and 440 Nm fährt 250 Km/h ohne Probleme. Ich bin Volvo Fan aber mit diese neue ab 2020 180km/h Limit ist a „No Go“. Die Werkstatt sagt dass kann die Limit von 180 auf 250 hochheben aber kostet ca. 3000 Euro und Garantie geht weg. So dass ist meine letzte Volvo 🥺😭

@@La-yt1wr Ours is from 2020 and you just have to deactivate the speed limiter and you end up with the same top speed as the same engine before 2020 we tested that on ours And we even managed to do more than the old model same engine (before 2020)

Because acceleration is a function of power and, in this configuration, torque. I have a 2023 T8 and for a family bus it is plenty fast enough. Once up to speed, one does not need a great deal of power to maintain it. Of course, if you live somewhere where motorway speeds are higher, there is a potential issue. Otherwise, it has performance in spades.
