Love your advice! I would absolutely love a more in depth explanation video of picking sheep based on conformation. I’ve been working with sheep for 7 years but I still struggle especially when looking at young lambs to make good solid picks based on feet and legs. Love your colorful sheep! I would love to live closer to you so I could scoop up some ewes and rams!
Thank you!! Me too!! Its so fun to have all the colors! The black is from the Painted Desert blood, even though its getting stretched pretty thin by now, happy I havelt lost the color gene :)
Great video! And beautiful flock- yes, I agree color is so much more pleasing to look at than these solid white flocks. I love the red and whites. That’s the only downside of sheep from goats imo. Can’t expect as much color as goats. Subbed for more sheep videos. Where abouts are you in the country and what varieties of grass are you grazing?
Thank you so much! Yes for sure! Color always sells first also, even someone coming for a wether to butcher, will point to my most colored Ram and say I'd like that one! lol Red/white is also my favorite! I raised Saanen goats for year. So my color fix was my sheep! lol But in 2015 I started crossing/breeding Mini Saanens! And I found MY BREED!! Mini Saanens are my favorite goat of every breed I have ever raised! And as I get into the next generations I am getting more and more Sable coloring :) (will be making another goat video soon as kids are coming!) And more sheep videos to come :) We are in Southern Coastal Oregon.
I was wondering about that ewe with the dark head and legs! So half Suffolk! How neat is that. I’m planning on breeding my dairy ewes to katahdin so I am praying that the offspring shed out like katahdin. Can’t tell you how much I hate shearing! I love the dark points on your Suffolk katahdin ewe
Yes! She's such a pretty sheep! So in my experience, crossing wool breeds, the 1/2 & 1/2 normally doesn't shed, but one more cross (3/4 Hair sheep) often does. some I had to shear their first year, but they shedded every year after that. I am surprised Nikki has such a short coat that sheds so perfectly.
I appreciate your videos theyre packed full of information always!
Great video, thanks for sharing
Thank you!!!

Good information. Love the colors...always wanted a black or black and white
