My first new motorcycle was an 81 SR250. I was 21. Rode it everywhere in SoCal. Rode it cross-country to Denver. I had to draft behind semi trucks to get up mountain passes. Now I am 63. I ride a Piaggio scooter. But I also have an 82 SR250. I can own any bike I want, and I've owned many. This is the one for me.
I always liked SRs. They're motorbike-shaped, and unlike Minsks or MZs (or even those decadent Western things like Nortons or Guzzis), on a cold day you don't need to light a bonfire under the engine to make it work.
Ppl. often mistake drum brakes being bad, the reason why disc brakes are better it's because by design they have better cooling and can keep same breaking performance for longer periods but drum brakes actually break better until they overheat. Ask any car engineer.
I have the sr 125 and its definately a great bike and im not sure about why you say the brakes are bad but i actually found them better than on my honda transalp 650 and for me 70-80kmh is more than enough and i can enjoy slow cruising in the countryside. Its definately a bike i wont sell and it never gets boring. I recently did 500km on the bike in one day and it was a really fun trip. I went to the mountains and only in the mountains would i want more power as i was going 30kmh up some hills but apart from that its a great bike and it makes you want to explore more rural areas instead of just taking the motorway.
Hey I was riding a hawk 250 .. 75mph behind a semi.. maybe 10-12 feet away.. I could back all the way off the throttle and stay 75mph.. very cool.. very scary.. I didn’t do it for long.. but cool experience..
I love, that you kinda orientate the stile of your videos on them from FortNine. Pls don't miss-understand me, I really really like it! I Love the FortNine Vids, but there are only so many. So another channel, that does it kinda the same way, bit with a personal touch, is just awesome! Maybe... just maybe you could look into the history of MZ? I mean you in romania should know that brand.. right?
Thank you, it’s definitely a compliment! The reason I started this channel was because there were no other highly produced, well though out videos in the moto world except for Fortnine. At least none that I knew of. Also, there are some channels in the car world that were really inspiring, like Jason Camisa’s revelations ... Anyway, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
@@KRANKiT Yeah, GDR Bikes work fine. But I would be really interested in a Video of the MZ 1000 S/SF. But I think, it's nearly impossible for you to get your Hands on one. I mean, here in Germany there are freaking rare. I personally have some rear MZs, like a NVA ETZ, a Skorpion or Baghira. But beats the 1000. It's kinda my dream bike, but I know. For that money I could buy myself something nicer... sadly.
Literally looking at purchasing one off someone for $3500, but I don't know if that's worth it. It's a custom. Looks cool but I could definitely get a newer bike for a little bit more. I'm a beginner! Lost.

That's such a cool story! Some bikes don't make sense for us to keep, yet we still do :)
Just got mine 2 days ago. My first bike. The first one. And I love it.
I bought a new SR250 in 2005, and still ride it today. It shared the garage with several other which came and went.

Under regular conditions, drums are perfectly fine

Enjoy yours!
These kind of bikes just make me want to buy a barn and fill it with Trail 125, KLX300, Grom, SR250 etc.
Don’t forget a TW200!

Could You list the aftermarket parts for this sr... like bars type, bars clamp, lights, fenders... etc...

Yep!
Is this new sr 250 or older
It’s old, like ... 30 years old :)
Kiss American Dad!
