One of the most underrated aspects of electric scooters/motorcycles is the silence. Once i experienced riding in silence, i can't go back. Its a true "flying" experience.
Totally agree, it's great. I also like being able to go out late at night on the bike and the loudest noise is my garage door opening/closing. Been riding much louder bikes for 18 years - and after ~14 months/8000km on the CE04 I have not noticed any difference in being noticed (or not) by other vehicles, including at night. It's fine IMO. Have never really understood the "loud pipes save lives" assholes. To me it has always felt like people who are desperate to blame literally anyone else for their own failings and will never accept that their own riding decisions contributed significantly to negative outcomes. And of course it's grossly antisocial.
If you've been on ICE bikes all your life, the CE04 is certainly weird. But it also seems like the easiest bike in the world to learn. I test-drove one and the weirdness went away pretty quick; then my only gripe was the speed limiting--I was saying FASTER FASTER FASTER and the CE04 was saying, "79mph is what you'll live with." 😁
Once you get used to it, the "Wonder Wheel" on the left handgrip is very intuitive. Being able to access information and controls for things like handlebar heat and trip meters is awesome. Probably should have been checked out on how to operate the scooter before you rode it!
Definitely preferred the clunky no-look switches for heated grips on my older BMWs (F650GS Dakar, R1200R, K1200GT) and heated seat on my K1200GT. Can use them without looking at the screen. BMW have really gone backwards with their switchgear in some areas. I noticed on my R1250GSA that the cruise control switches are WAY more difficult to reach (for me at least) than on my K1200GT. Love the CE-04 though. Best urban bike I've ever owned, not even a contest. Told the dealer I'm not buying any more combustion BMWs until they sort out their shitty gearboxes. If I'm paying that much I don't want the gearbox to feel like a shitty tractor
YES! The CE04 is very, very easy to ride. My daughter wants a motorcycle and the CE04 is likely what she'll get. We test drove it together and we both enjoyed it. I've been riding 20 years now and the only thing I disliked about the CE04 was its speed limiting--my test drive was maxed at 79mph the whole time. 😁
I've been on both sides of the car versus motorcycle crash. It was much less life changing to be the one on the bike. I look for bikes in places no one would think of after years of riding. Someone lane splitting thru a completely stopped and backed up intersection was one scenario I never thought of. Especially a dude on a Harley at 25 mph over the posted speed. Wear the gear all of the time!
@@theantiqueactionfigure got a buddy who got hit in an intersection .. in my opinion he was going way too fast.. He won the case, lawyers said there’s no speed limit for lane splitting (In CA) I still find it hard to believe years later 🤷♂️
@MrOscar5690 this dude left a hundred foot skid mark right past the stopped cars he was splitting up to my truck. Speedo broke at ten miles over the limit. I was turning left though, so it was deemed 100 percent my fault. I'm lifelong LA area rider where we spit lanes legally and hopefully carefully. I never would have made the stupid move he did. He nearly paid for it with his life.
@@theantiqueactionfigure The car that hit my buddy was also turning left too... he was barely moving though.. my buddy just got knocked off, minor injuries.. I used to ride too, I always slowed down at intersections where traffic isn’t moving. Cuz 1, someone could be making a left turn or 2/3 pedestrian or debris.. I’m glad your guy was ok
Tried to watch this, turned it off 40 seconds in. Just tell us at the beginning if you are gonna cry like a baby the entire time and we can just skip the video entirely.
Weird item. Hard to figure who fits the range, WB and performance. Only BMW can afford to actually make one for sale.. Doesn't fit an urban use case. Doesn't fit a touring use case.
No windscreen very limited storage. And it's electric. And since it's a BMW you'll be getting very regular and very expensive maintenance. And you need to find a charging station constantly. Range less than exciting. And a 3000 scooter will cost closer to 10k. So that's like.... Strike 1 thru 9. You struck out the side, BMW. Electric bikes were a disaster for Harley so Germany says hold my beer.
I wanted a BMW forever. Bought one and then needed a clutch. Clutch replacement required the bike to be separated in half. Sold it with a new clutch. They did away with that dry clutch on a lot of models. A motorcycle clutch is normally an hour job.

Silence at the cost of awareness… :(
Don’t u think it is a bit or more than a bit too quiet to be heard/ not killed.

My mom was in a bike club (before I was born obviously!) and all the bikes in the club were BMW. That’s way way back when my mom was a gangsta.😅

Never ride a motorcycle before.Thinking to buy as my first bike. would it be good as first bike ?
Macha, same here. Please lenme know as well
The BMW CE 04 is my first bike, ever. I used it for both permit and endorsement.

No. It's all shiny and new. Start with a disposable, preferably in a field. You'll have a blast and get two years handling skills in a long weekend ;)
They look so cool and futuristic on the road, I’ve seen a much now in Sydney. I would love one much they are pricey 😅

count how many times he says weird. Weird.
Say weird one more time..

Crazy and difficult to drive scooter? God forbid
Sounds like you haven't road anything but sport bikes.
Standards mainly. Some scooters. One Harley.

Just guessing, maybe it’s designed for some European cities in anticipation of total restrictions on ICE vehicles.
Jackpot

Why assume high maintenece? It might be different from other BMWs.
