"Kur?" is a perfect song after Sudden Lights. The timelessness from the Sudden Lights is here plus the song is in Latvian!!! Also someone who is working on music myself, seeing young people like me maybe surpassing Dons is a huge inspiration to make music no matter the amount of experience.
They are having a momentum and their popularity is growing. They were already 2nd in televote halfway through the voting of the semi, and many people (including my friends and I) didn't even vote, because we all thought Dons has it in his bag, but now that there is a chance - we will be voting HEAVILY for Vēstulēs this Saturday. They can win if Dons doesn't improve his performance, as he was not convincing at all
@@ThePotatoHandler I don't think so. You can try adding +371 in front of the voting number when calling, but I don't know if that will work. It worked for me when I voted in Eesti Laul from Latvia (added their country code +372 in front of the voting number), but don't know if it will work for Supernova
@@ThePotatoHandler Unfortunately people outside Latvia cannot vote. Hopefully, Latvians will do their best supporting this song, but Dons is really strong contender with huge fan base. I have my doubts here, but what I observed regarding Latvian audience is that this live perofomance was better acclaimed than Dons performance and somehow I have a feeling it may turn as sleeper hit. I did not vote in semi-final, but I will absolutely vote for them in the final. You can count on it! :-)
Dons is good, but this song is better indeed. Also, if Dons was someone unknown, he would definitely lose to this one. So it's now a fight between Dons's popularity (and talent) and the freshness and talent, and the actual song of these two!
This definitely has potential. It's a mixture between the Netherlands last year and Estonia's 'Goodbye to yesterday ". It can really stand out between all other entries we know of. I'm curious to say at least.
This is absolutely amazing. It’s raw and perfect at the same time. Everything in this performance works. Damn…will be my first place if they get chosen. Best one from the national selections so far
No, just because there's no momentum in the fandom doesn't mean it got no shot at winning Supernova. Many songs have won their national selections despite being ignored within the bubble. And honestly, this has probably got the biggest potential to qualify aside from the cats song.
@@worsttaste.3464 that's great. And I've also seen a Supernova Top where it was ranked first, so maybe it's gonna win. And furthermore, songs that haven't done well with the bubble often still managed to qualify. But, it's great to hear that it's got some momentum in Latvia and isn't as underappreciated by the bubble as I thought it was.
Aaaaahhh idk you're gonna do a review of this song. I love "kur?" from the first listen. And to my surprise, the live performance is even better! Knowing that they're still 17/18 just shows that there's some greater potential for them in the future. But yeah, their chances of winning Supernova this year is emm small 😢, knowing how popular Dons is in Latvia. But I'm so happy there are more people loving this song ❤
I think their youth is what makes it more special and they should go to Eurovision as soon as possible. Adds some kind of pleasant innocence and naivety to the whole performance. Meanwhile Dons performance felt like bad acting. Either Dons haven't tapped into it yet, or maybe he has outgrown the song already, so the emotion isn't there anymore.
Do I think that Dons is the safer bet for the much needed Latvia's qualification? Yes. Was i devastated when Aija NQd last year?Absolutely. Still, i can't help but falling in love with this song, even though i know it won't stand any chance on the ESC stage. This is what i define as magic. And the live version of it was the missing piece to feel it 100%. What a setting, what an atmosphere, what a scenography... How talented these kids are, the way they blend their voices, their attitude, their meaningful movement, their irresistible musicality. No matter what happens on the Supernova final, ''kur?'' is staying with me after the contest.
Might be my delusions, but I actually think "kur?" is a safer choice, as it already has a Eurovision ready staging, which Dons doesn't. I would also feel much better to NQ with Vēstulēs than to NQ with Dons.
@@NQstreak not too delusional, it's true that Dons' performance lacked of staging, but i think he will have enough time till May to revisit it and present something complete and Q worthy. But i absolutely agree on your last note, with ''kur?'' you simply thank Latvia for existing to serve such gems even if they stay in the semis.
I actually always liked this, when I heard the studio track I was like "Ok this is really pretty and it's in native language", but it's not much different than last year's entry and would also depend on things like running order. It would feel miserable to me if Latvia ends up 11th or 12th in semi again and I think they just need something more direct and straightforward if they wanna qualify which I think they want.
Hello from Latvia! I also like this song better than Dons' (who is very famous in Latvia). I also think all countries should sing in their languages, plus subtitles.
I also got the Netherlands wibes. I think this song and performance is ready. I just dont trust that on the huge Eurovision stage, they would freak out.
I wish eurovision fans would appriciate stuff like this more, but these days it feels like everything has to be either weird or a joke to be seen. I'm happy for Dons & I love his song, but Kur? Is just amazing and after Latvia gave us Sudden Lights last year, I would have prefered Vēstulēs because Sudden Lights got robbed because the majority of eurovision fans doesn't appriciate that kind of art.
I absolutely love this song, but I'm afraid it might get swallowed up/overlooked in Eurovision, like you mentioned.. It's a brilliant song, I hope they get the attention they deserve.
I believe, after last year's Sudden Lights failure in the semi-final, Latvia's jury has had enough with sending songs, which someone will put in their lifetime top 5, but Europe in general will just throw in the trash. 90% possibility that Dons will go to Sweden with his full-Eurovisionish ballad. I am from Latvia, and if we would do better in the previous years, this would surely be my vote in the televoting, but considering the circumstances, Dons it is, because he has a better chance to end our streak without the grand final.
Even if I was sort of sceptical about this song first time listening to it, they are starting to grow to me as quality similar to Dons. Too bad I have to admit this year's Supernova is very weak - these two songs are actually by far stronger than rest.
@@AlesiaMichelle I agree but I feel that they may struggle to qualify again with any of those choices. Alekss would have been nice but we already have nice bombastic songs so he will get direct competition. Not easy for Latvia this year agian
Begging for Latvia to send this I need it so much
My absolute favourite of the whole season ❤
isn't this like their first performance outside of school or something? They have so much potential
Yes. You can see the guy being a quite nervous before he started to sing, but it kinda adds charm to the performance.

This was definitely the standout of the semi for me
To me this feels a lot more adult and modern than Hollow. There's room for it in Eurovision this year, specially after st Pedro's not making it!
Yes! Exactly my thinking.
This definitely has potential. It's a mixture between the Netherlands last year and Estonia's 'Goodbye to yesterday ". It can really stand out between all other entries we know of. I'm curious to say at least.

It is not just the Eurovision fandom though, Latvian twitter is praising them as well

This entry is sooo good, its giving sebi but im so scared people wont get the indie rock vibes.
Sebi is a fair comparable in terms of youthful-vibes-well executed AND qualified.
FIONA APPLE MENTIONED!!!!

I keep rewatching this, cause I feel the same. Especially that 4:10 moment, my heart melts every time I listen to them.
Yes omg I thought of Fiona Apple (Fetch the Bolt Cutters)

This is so good! One of the best alternative songs we had in a while.
they both are 16 or 17
WHAAAAAT?!? love it even more
Yes, Braiens is 16, that I catched from Supernova’s interview. About Marta I am not sure - probably a bit older
Marta is 17
This needs to win
anything Fiona Apple related gets a big yes from me

just put this song right after ulveham and i think it will qualify

Well they gotta send something…

It's a big no from me. The comparison to Netherlands last year says it all, that was in my bottom 5.
This is FAR better than what the hobbled together duet was last year.
Alesia did say "everything the Netherlands wanted to be", as a compliment, that it is better than The Netherlands last year
Get a life!
