For my tastes, women look their best during middle age. The chin thing is neither here nor there to a discerning chap. Good cosmetics are fine, but really it's the experience that shows in the face that makes a woman attractive, and her manner of expressing it of course. Grooming can't hide that, but it can enhance it if the woman is intelligent.
The Allen Bradley story line is the last good story line she ever had. There was potential for some great story lines with the return of Bet Lynch - you could see the potential in the scene where they were briefly reunited Audrey Robert's. Now her main story lines don't go much beyond unclipping the strings on bundles of newspapers and selling sherbet lemons.
Barbara gave lots of touching performances as Rita throughout the Ted Sullivan storyline, her second husband who had a brain tumour. It must be difficult for the writers to devise new stories for the veterans, and different avenues for their characters to go down. Rita had good storylines with Norris after Mavis’s departure and it was nice that she had some family involvement with the Websters. It’s a shame she’s been so unlucky in love though, and let down by Sharon. Barbara is getting on a bit now, nearly 90, so perhaps not surprising Rita’s been sidelined a bit apart from her feud with Audrey in recent years. I can’t see a reconciliation with Bet happening, I don’t think Julie Goodyear will be returning.
