When i saw this on PBS, it made me realize that my single favorite thing about Balanchine is his ability to move large groups of people dynamically through a space. You get swept right up in the movement of the dancers.
Inspite of all the trials and tribulations Balanchine suffered in his personal life in exile, he still could create this beautifully joyous work. Today, choreographers seem to be mired in angst and darkness.
Jorge Donn ? It must be his ghost !!! :-p J. D. stopped dancing in 1990 and died on Nov 92. Unless, of course this was filmed before 1990. I did not know he had ever guested with NYCB!
