This was such a wonderfully informative video! What an awesome and creative idea to use "old" parts and modernize them. I love the frugality, low-waste, creative twists, and especially the craftsmanship. Mostly, I really appreciate your way of explaining each tool you're using and why, and giving examples of other appropriate tools more advanced "tinkerers" might use. I'm definitely following you for all of planned projects this summer! We are restoring a '77 Corvette, a $500 impulse boat purchase, and I've been working on a cedar chest I rescued on the side of the road. I'm trying to make a Minecraft toy box for son. These speakers are so cool! You've given me quite a few ideas about some of the random speakers we have laying around the house. I'm going to give them an update like you did, so we can have nice speakers in the garage and the basement for the kids. Thanks so much for making this channel!

Thanks so much, I truly enjoy repairing, rebuilding and restoring old things I find cool. I'm still learning the TH-cam thing and trying to grow this channel.

Great video, I found a few drive in speakers at an antique store. I have been wondering how I could convert them to Bluetooth. THANKS

Thanks fairly easy to build. I'm a car guy so the Blue one matches my 67 Camaro. I use it at car shows.

Very interesting. I worked at a drive-in years ago. I don't remember if ours were painted for sure but it seems like the front might have been white and the back another color. Or not painted at all? Maybe it was gray as that would explain my memory of not painted.
Edit to add a couple comments on the bluetooth speaker. JBL GO appears to no longer be available from JBL. They currently have a GO 2 and a GO 3. The GO 2 has a similar case to the GO, i.e. power and pairing on the side. However, the GO 3 moves the power and pairing to the end. So the GO 3 would need to be mounted rotated 90 degrees from the one in the video.

Thanks for the good eye, the Go 2 is about the same and available on eBay at about $25 free shipping.

I absolutely love this!!! As a car guy and lover of all things automobilia, I may have to look into tackling this project for garage music!! Thank you for the idea and the detailed instuctions. Where do you source your drive-in speakers?

Ebay is where I've sourced mine. generally $50-$75. I'm definitely a car guy as well and have a couple of cool projects coming up on my channel.

Cool build! I thought the metal housing would infertere with the Bluetooth substantially, but it looks like it works great

This is really cool! Do you find the metal housing impacts range of the bluetooth?

I haven't had a problem but haven't done a distance test, I should. I have used these at car shows and never had a problem.

A day late and a dollar short for the contest, but thanks for showing the step by step for in a BT speaker into the drive-in shell. A thumbs up to only adding 3 new holes to make everything connect for your model, and I feel it was a good answer on how to reach the power button and the pairing button. I'll keep those in mind for my upcoming build. Thanks again for the tutorial.
