  • This video will walk you through the repair of a non functioning LASKO ceramic space heater purchased from AMAZON. Fairly easy fix.
    ****Update - the unit did blow the fuse again!! and I had to install another fuse.....
    for this time, I installed the fuse on the backside of the circuit board now that I knew where the fuse was located and what solder points it shared. so it took much less time. let's hope it works this time :) What a POS!! LMAO

    Great job man! I'm on my 3rd one of these for the same issue. Luckily the warranty took care of 2 of them, which Lasko quickly replaced 🙏🏼but the warranty expired on the latest one & didn't want the hassle of paying to ship it off for repairs. I'm taking it apart ASAP to check that fuse, which is probably the issue. Thanks again for making the vid👍🏼😎

      @@pmedina701 You got it!!! Mine has been working ever since so I'm not sure if it's the quality of fuse or what. Also, if you have time, find a fuse holder you can put into the plastic casing so it's easy to replace in the future. I'll do that next. Let me know how it goes. thx !

    If anyone ended up on this video trying to disable or minimize the beeping sound, its possible. You just need to open up the space heater. On the rear of the circuit board is a black circular speaker, put a few pieces of electrical tape on it and that will make the beep quieter.

    Thank you for your video. My Lasko space heater quit working last night when I was using it to thaw laundry room pipes.🙄 It's a 120-volt, 60 hz, 1500 watt ceramic heater. Haven't torn into it yet but I don't have a power tester and was wondering, what type do you have that makes an audible noise? Also, was your fuse marked 1/4 amp, 250 volts or how did you know just what size to get? Do you know if they would carry something like that at a home depot, lowe's, menards, or Ace Hardware? Thanks again for this video! Very clear and well done.

      I can't get the blasted thing open. The model is a little different than yours and the back doesn't pop off. Was thinking I might need to take the base off to get one side off, but they complicated the removal. There are four screws on it but one of the four isn't a normal screw - it's a round head with two slots cut in it opposite each other, if that makes sense. I would attach pictures but I don't see how to do that here.

    I have another model, with LCD and randomly it gives me error in LCD and beep continously. After few attempts it run again. What could be?

      @talkingwithcars  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@Machiuka interesting for sure. I haven't seen the LCD display version. do you have a model #. typically when screens fail like that it's catastrophic and the panel needs replacement but you never know. have you opened it up or tried to unplug and reset it ??

      @@talkingwithcars The backlight of the panel is flickering randomly and shortly after that it enters in error mode. Some times it works well. I've clean it because it was full of dust, but I cannot succeed to make it work flawlessly. Sometimes works but most of the time is not (error mode on display, light flickering and that annoying beep).

      @ this is interesting for sure and you've cleaned all the dust out ? I would call the manufacturer and see if they can send you a replacement board if possible. if not, i would say you might be out of luck. how old is it ?

    Every single day this happens. Something doesn't turn on. Bad fuse? What should I do? Replace the fuse? Yep you got yourself a bad fuse right there mmhmm. But why did the fuse blow? I don't know. This is where people don't realize the fuse is not bad, the fuse technically is always good whether open or closed, the fuse performed it's only function. It was a good fuse and everybody says its a bad fuse and start changing the fuses with bigger fuse. But why did the fuse have to do its job? Because something else in the circuit is bad and requires in depth analysis and troubleshooting. And yet everyday "bad" fuses get replaced without knowing why they had to work good. And another one bites the dust. But anyway, I'm troubleshooting my little Lasko heater right now. No problem with the fuse. 2 power relays for the heat elements HI and LO all of a sudden started chattering. Removing the relays I get 15 VDC on the transistor outputs that drive the 12 VDC coils. Relays are good. Transistors are good. Put em back in and their just turning on and off really fast causing a buzzing noise. One of the other components is malfunctioning. Maybe the 8 bit microcontroller. That is what drives the transistors which in turn drive the relays. I could replace it with another microcontroller that I would have to program by reverse engineering what everything does. But I'm about ready to either rewire it with manual switches so I can just turn it on and off mechanically by hand, or toss it in the bin and buy another one.
