    I had the pleasure of having Staff Sergeant Bergstrom as one of my best friends in High School. He was a grade below us, but man, Tony certainly was a trip. I’m glad to see his career in the Air Force is still going strong. Aim high brother, miss you.

    Good stuff, I've never seen anyone actually film details of the process before, only grainy still pictures with vague descriptions, very interesting.

    Amazing to see how much responsibility the Air Force gives these young lads. I mean that's equipment worth millions. Can't wait to see the entire walkaround of the B-1. Hopefully the Air Force reviews it soon.
    Also Great work Erik. No interruptions, letting the person talk as much as they want, as usual amazing.

    This really is other level stuff. Jeez unprecedented access and really show the level of technical capabilities and professionalism. Outstanding .
    I’ve found this after watching countless Russian propaganda military vids out of curiosity and there couldn’t be any greater difference. The whole operation and technology is not even comparable.

    Brings back many memories. I was a weapons troop for 24 years. In the late 70's I loaded the first iteration of the rotary launcher on B-52 aircraft. Back then it was the SRAM (Short Range Attack Missile). It was a nuclear missile we had on hard alert back then. Also back then we obviously didn't have computer check lists. We had actual paper check lists. The pages were in plastic sleeves and you checked off the steps with a grease pencil.

      That, too, was my days on the B-52. I wasn't weapons, but I was always fascinated when I get to watch a weapons load.

    Awesome video! I'm a retired B-52 maintainer, and I was always amazed when I was around to see a weapons load. The Weapons troops rock!

    Great work Erik and great job on the part of the load crew. It’s been almost 10 years since I loaded a bomb on an F-16, so it was neat to see how much things have changed and how some things haven’t.

    I can just imagine these guys in full mission mode, loading a B-1 with a full loadout for a mission. Talk about well oiled machine. They probably get the whole plane, all 3 bays loaded in about the time this single round explanation took, i bet

    Cool video. Only downside is because of noise it was sometimes hard to hear what they saying, but thats understandable. In other comment i read that full B-1 walkaround is coming, really looking forward for this. If im not mistaken, its only variable-sweep wing in US service.

      Weird they don't have some ultra super silent muffler on that forklift? Looks like it's from WWII. Puzzling after 80 years they haven't figured out a way to quiet that beast?

    • @kleindavid9416
      @kleindavid9416 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@williambarry8015 yeah, was thinking the same - operating with extremely expensive equipment, but havent found a way to have a silent lift? The connector is in a place where fingers can be crushed? The Forklift moves in a parabolic arc and they havent found a way to build one that just... lifts straight up? The cascets are built in a way that allows ammonition to fall of (if it would drop even from 5cm it could slide of in the direction of the soldier...) Idk, its an absolutelly great video and I dont want to be an armchair expert - but I feel like there are some unnecessary dangers for the mena and women in uniform here...

    • @mytube001
      @mytube001 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@williambarry8015 Even better, make it electric. It only travels very short distances, so you wouldn't need huge batteries and it would charge fast.

    It's pretty funny to see that insurance ad in the video right before that guy uncovers the payload for a bomber plane.
    It's also pretty sweet that we (Finland) are on Team NATO nowadays. We had a pretty nice air show here in my home town during the NATO air force drills.

    Fun Fact : _"74 Man Hours of maintenance for every One Hour of B-1 Bomber flight time."_
    Fun Fact #2 : _"Due to the maintenance, etc. the B-1 Bomber never deployed to the Gulf War, it flew from the Midwest USA, midair refueling several times, dropped a couple thousand pounds of bombs, then flew back. The 2 man crew purchased a Sears Lawn Chair to take turns sleeping."_
    Fun Fact #3 : _"The B-52 Bomber is still in service, it has not been replaced. IF you wonder "why" then re-read this comment."_

    Many of the WW2 bombers had winches fitted inside the bomb bay that would hoist the weapon into place. Why don't they use s similar system? Is the ordinance too heavy?
