This is one of my favorite pieces of all time - and incidentally the one that not only introduced me to the amazing Cecilia, but also contributed to entice me in the Italian Baroque. The strings and the voice modulations are incredible still today - remember also that at the time these female roles were mainly performed and sung by the amazing likes of Faggiolli and similar contra-tenors (or whatever male singers of soprano partituras are called these days) . Listening to a fabulous coloratura soprano like Cecilia Bartoli opened a whole world of marvelous sound for me - as well as showing me that Opera is the cumulus of sung theater for many centuries.
Bartoli uses an interesting technique for her fioritura which is older than the 19th Century bel canto and often sounds odd to some people. Christina Deutekom also used this technique and sometimes critics felt she sounded as though she was "yodeling" but that is the technique. It fits 18th century opera and vocal music much better than the smoother pure bel canto but still can sound odd to modern ears. Bartoli is masterful here.
Wilson Watt well that is a charming way out of Bartolis vocal problems .It’s a shame she has none of the volume, scale nor evenness she perhaps thinks she does . And even worse that she is a breathy mess throughout. The lowering of the head , facial tics ,gesticulations are absurd. It’s a great tune she is having fun at warbling it but that’s all this is warble warble in a beautiful small voice . #nervousgemini
@@maxlangley3620 assolutamente no!
I am speechless listening Cecilia, thinking she is the only singer in the entire World. It turns out that beautiful ladies follow her close. I am impressed by their technical abilities and virtuosity. It was great experience for me, a lot of fun and excitement. Many thanks!!!

Beautiful in every way...such a fantastic voice and so much passion with it, what an incredible woman.

Tecnica carattere interpretazione
Lavoro studio lavoro studio
Never quite worked out how she does her coloratura - there is no centre to it - as a fellow coloratura singer it is fascinating but uncomfortable
simplemete horrible

And where exactly is your performance of this piece? I'd be glad to review it.
