I don't know whether this is something that is considered in a unit's SOP, but I have always been taught to never have anyone in leadership at the front of any element formation whether it be a squad or platoon formation. No reason to have the first person shot be a person in a leadership position. But then again I'm just a cadet
I know this is old but the team lead is a E5 this is and has been current doctrine. Leaders lead from the front. Squad Leader is in the center of the formation so he can move with either team in movement to contact.
Ryke Haven do you have the doctrine to support that? I know what we used in my time and it worked. Yes times change and doctrine changes but it is just one technique out of many. To say I was taught wrong is an error on your part. The techniques presented here are still valid hence there still being included and taught.
@Ryke Haven Then make sure you have the name you are responding to in the message. As they say we both assumed and that makes an ass out of you and me. No worries.
I know this is an old video I was wondering if anyone can help, so Ive been watching lots of these and notice, the Marines usually have their TL 2nd in formation, and the Army videos I've seen show the TL out front, is there a reason for that?
