    i am preparing for my class 2 Sir ,.,every single video of your channel is making all the complicated subjects so simple that m sure Ecdt pyarelal after sign off can clear his oral in first attempt :)
    thanks you sir and waiting for many more such videos to come
    regarding that question what i could interpret
    Sir usually 3 pumps are there 1 is control and other 2 are follower,controller swash plate is set to 50% and follower will have B/W 10-100% depending on the RPM of the Engine,.
    so if the controller pump failed to reverse one of the followers will act as a controller,.
    and it also has a provision in case of control failure swash plate will be set to 100% ahead direction.
    and since all pumps are equipped with suc pr sensor if pr is too low for all pumps it ll initiate a Shut Down.,
    ### As you said there are many intelligent people sitting there and coming up with complicated ideas, So to avoid that pump running dry(which dint reverse) they provided v/v 215,. 😊

    dear sir, well explained. However to your interesting query in the end of the video - when the engine is astern then as we know during start up or reversing when rpm is low then the hydraulic system is run by the electronic pumps and not by swash pumps ( in the diagram the right side , 2 pumps are located to supply hydraulic oil from sump) swash pumps are isolated during low rpm or reversing at low speed. so we can manage to do astern without any problem but the only thing is we cannot reverse at high rpm. Correct me if I am wrong.....Thanks a ton for the explanation again.

    • @rmetcvideos
      @rmetcvideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      I request you to consider the following points you have said....swash plate pumps are engine driven....so how can you ISOLATE???The question was ..when the swash plate cannot be reversed and also cannot be isolated how a engine can run in full astern direction...if you think on these lines...you will get the correct answer yourself👍

    • @ojesvisharma1168
      @ojesvisharma1168 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay sir understood.
      If swash plate angle is not changed and shaft direction is reversed then there will not be any suction from that indivisual pump and other pumps will compensate.
      Right?

  • @vikrammgokhale
    @vikrammgokhale ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If reversal of the swash plate does not happen for any one of the pumps, the swash plate could be brought to zero angle (idle). Other pumps will increase their pumping rate to compensate. Also, as already mentioned by Manjit, in case of complete failure, swash plate is set to Ahead ('limp home' mode) 😇

    • @AmitKumar-ic6dd
      @AmitKumar-ic6dd ปีที่แล้ว

      in case of complete failure , plate is SET TO AHEAD? can you elaborate on that

    • @vikrammgokhale
      @vikrammgokhale ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AmitKumar-ic6dd in case of emergency (failure), you only need to run the engine in ahead to reach the nearest port...

    • @rmetcvideos
      @rmetcvideos  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ok..lets get this sorted out...in case of failure...of one pump...remember that the signal cannot be received...so the pump cannot be set to zero angle....the faulty pump goes to FULL angle position. . The other pumps compensate...Everything is as normal as possible...No need to use words like LIMP ahead etc🤣can reverse and be as normal ad possible🤣🤣

      @@rmetcvideos Hi Sir. Our vessel is now berthed in Santos Brazil but right before maneuvering from ahead to stop and then to dead slow astern, noticed starting valve was working but there is no movement 'till alarm failure is activated. Tried 5x in the order of dead slow astern but same problem persist. There was no problem encountered in ahead order but only during dead slow astern. 2nd engr took the control from Bridge to ECR and everything was ok. So C/E advised the Captain that we will used ECR control till we berthed. I have already checked the connections from Bridge Telegraph Transmitter down to ECR Telegraph Reciever and found no abnormalities. Now watching your video makes me ask whether the problem is on the mechanical or communication side?
      Ty. Any suggestion is highly appreciated.

    • @rmetcvideos
      @rmetcvideos  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ronaldv.novesteras8157 ..thanks for your mail...presuming that it is a ME engine..Movement from Stop to Ahd or astern is caused by the Electrical start up pumps.If you are able to be Ok in ECR control..I don't suspect any problem with hydraulics or anything concerned with the topic in this video..Since I don't have access to the man.diagram of your vessel...I guess it might be the Solenoud valve, microswitch problem..Just guessing

    On discharge side there is a Check Valve before accumulator connected to A line on which the relief valves are also connected to deliver oil back to Suction side. If I am right, if the swash plates do not reverse, ofcourse we will have alarm in MOP, but the check valves will open and the pump will take suction from B side and deliver to A Side. Thats a Failsafe Mechanism i guess.

    There is a non return valve provided 215 (which will save the pump from running dry by providing oil), in case it doesn't reverse. Pressure compensated by other variable delivery pumps. I guess. Am I right?

    Sir, can you explain more on how when shaft rotation is changed in swash plate pump the suction and discharge CHANGES?
    According to me the suction and discharge should remain same after changing rotation of the shaft, BECAUSE since the angle is same even after change of rotation and suction of the piston depends on the length of stroke (piston draws liquid in larger length and pushes out as the length of stoke decreases ) which in turn depend on angle of swash plate. The suction and discharge will change only when the angle of the swash plate is changed. Please correct me if I am wrong.

    • @rmetcvideos
      @rmetcvideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha Ha... Imagine a turning gear .shaft turning clockwise--piston goes up..if you turn the shaft anti clockwise..the piston goes down..same logic....

    • @abhirajsingh987
      @abhirajsingh987 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@rmetcvideos yes sir absolutely, but again the suction will only take place in the same region as the angle of the plate has not changed. For example if the suction in the pump was from bottom half of the plate then even after changing the direction of rotation the suction will take place in the bottom half of the plate only. Just that if 1,2,3 piston were in line to take suction and after no.1, no. 2 piston was in line then by changing the rotation again no. 1 piston will take suction and then no. 3 piston and not no. 2. But the suction will be in the same part or from the same port only if the plate angle has not been changed.

    • @rmetcvideos
      @rmetcvideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      If bottom was suction..then it will become discharge when shaft rot changes..for the same angle..Again think hard with the same Turning gear as an analogy.if clockwise rot can make piston go frd ..which is discharge..then anticlockwiase rotation at the same spot will cause piston to retract which is ...suction

    • @abhirajsingh987
      @abhirajsingh987 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes Sir I agree with bottom half of your reply but, again sir please forgive my audacity to ask you to rethink. If suppose the shaft is rotating clockwise and suction and discharge port are at the bottom and top respectively. Now imagine a clock and piston is to deliver at 12 o clock then after 12 till 6 (bottom ,where suction is) the region is suction build up region as the piston retracts and at 6 o clock suction is complete now the piston starts to push out and build discharge pressure so from 6 to 12 (clockwise direction) is pressure build up region right?! So now at this point if you change the direction of rotation and maintain the SAME angle of plate then the suction and pressure build up region will change i.e now from 12 to 6 ( anticlockwise) it would be suction build up region and from 6 to 12 (anticlockwise) it would pressure build up region but the point or port of delivery would be same i.e 12 for discharge and 6 for suction. These will only change in case the ANGLE of the plate is changed.

    • @rmetcvideos
      @rmetcvideos  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@abhirajsingh987 ..Your logic is correct but I guess smewhere you are missing the point. Maybe bcoz you are --I am simply guessing based on your choice of words like--pressure buid up and suction buid up . there is no such thing called pressure buildup and suction buildup.....It is as simple---as---from 6 to 12 --the entire region is Pipe A and From 12 to 6--entire region is PIpeB ...There is continous discharge or suction of oil all along deoending upon direction of rotation

    Sir, still couldn't comprehend when the swash plate pump is reversed it should still give discharge to A side , as the individual pumps suction and discharge stroke will remain same, max volume at bottom and min volume at top, which is the case if the shaft rotates in any direction
