Just an FYI, I used this exact same process of choosing the nav radio and then clearing the VIN info to relearn a junkyard base model radio with buttons and tape player
I have a 2006 gmc sierra 2500hd with the oem rear dvd player and was wondering if when the dealer programs it to my truck if I can still play the players audio through the trucks speakers when I change the source to the player?
I’ve got a 2004 Tahoe and am trying to put a nav radio out of 2006 gmc Yukon Denali. Would you be able to relearn the vin? Dealer told me that the part number was not listed in the tech2
@@andyb1185 I’m in the southeast. I’m going to try and reprogram my eeprom with my vin. I’ve seen people have success with this and it’s a much cheaper option
Let me try again, Great video, I’m trying to do the same thing, While I wait for my tech2 to arrive, I built a small harness with the C1 radio connector on one side and an OBD port at the other, I connected 4 wires between them. +12v, 2 Grounds, and Class2 J1850 signal. I plugged a 15800001 in when I press/toggle the power button, the screen toggles between the TOD(time of day) and blank screen. I was hoping that it would display a Theftlock message or the normal power on message. Is there something that I need to do to wake it up like putting another class 2 module on the bus so that the radio wakes up. When I plug in my fancy OBD scanner, it does say the radio part number, but it won’t read the live data so I believe I have wiring correct since it appears it can talk to it.
..... or does your little network have a BCM in it as well and it drives the IGN0 ,Ign1, and Acc inputs to have the BCM think its in a vehicle/network and its then sends the appropriate message to the radio so that can turn itself on?????
Hey there, just wondering--would you unlock mine if I mailed it over to you? I have a GMC Envoy and I'm thinking of putting that same exact unit into mine. Please let me know. Thanks.
I have this radio in my 2006 Denali and have been really happy with it. No biggie, but the date and year no longer are correct. And from searching it seems to be a common problem. I thought this was updated through the GPS? Am I wrong?
@@andyb1185 you press on the lower right under the time and a window pops up that shows the month and year. It always worked and as of 18 months ago it went back to 2000

I’d like to see how you connected everything, from the tech 2 to the radio, is that possible?
Wondering if using the vxdiag could work. Which wires on the radio are for the odb connector ?

They should be, yes. To be quite honest, I don't recall even seeing the date or year listed though

Looking into the same issue with a friends 05 Denali. The date is around July 20 2004… but the clock is accurate for now
What does output control do. Under the navigation radio menu
Primarily just allows you to test speakers
@@andyb1185 so if I wanted to increase the volume or change settings about the sound. Is there a way to do that?
