I have triple crown and 3 other varieties. It’s indeed the most disease and pest resistant, I think it’s becoz it has thicker and more hairy leaves. Flavor wise, sweetie pie is the sweetest.
Oh, this is exactly the info I was looking for! I only have room for 1 variety of blackberries, and I was curious about the pros and cons of each. Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it Jenn. I’m looking at a thornless variety called prime ark freedom that might be worth checking out also. I’m told it produces large sweet berries in spring and fall in some areas.
Those blackberries are huge but look similar to those I buy in the grocery store - tart but tasty. I like this video, Jim!
The big difference in homegrown is the vine ripened berries are so much sweeter than when getting to market fast is the goal.

Jim, I've watched a few of your videos, and you, sir, are like the Jacques Cousteau of backyard gardening! Those berries are huge and look delicious.
Lol……dude that takes me back years ….when a Cousteau special would be on TV. Big thing back before all the specialty networks around today.

Maybe the predators of the insects dont like the thorns. They only eat off the thornless plants lol
LOVE Blackberries, especially blackberry cobbler. But those thorns look a little ominous.
