Man,,,,,we love these videos.....Thank you so much!.....by the way, When I went to uni,,,,I I was associated with a lady from Lymme......a beautiful little town.....and a delightful little lady!!!!
Really enjoyable vlog and so interesting! I liked the salt history, research into the graves, the steam lorry, the scenery, cygnets and more, but especially the Plum Porter on tap 😄 Yum!
Wonderful video, many thanks. These are all stretches of the cut we know extremely well as our home marina is next to the Anderton lift. We may well have crossed paths normally, but we are currently getting our through the BSS inspection. Sadly, we have never made it to The Badger, but will try soon. The Big Lock is often our "stop off" place, but the Newton Brewery (round the corner) also does excellent ales.
What a nice Gentle Vlog ! ! No Raucous singing in the Tunnels, but again NO visit to Andy the Boat Lift ! ! Hmmmmmmmmm ! ! A Super show of Swan-up-manship, guarding their Cygnets , They have been known to break a man's arm, when disturbed ! Calm amidst the stones ! I must admit to a little tear, when you read the names and dates on the Head-stones ! HOW MANY pies did you eat at the ""Badger"" ?? Have a great time ! Love to you and Mrs. L Stu xx
Raucous singing…raucous singing!!! I’ll have you know that’s gentle, melodic birdsong! Just no time for Anderton this time. It will happen. I love Cygnets, not so their parents!! I just love a graveyard. I actually have a real morbid curiosity to actually see what’s inside the intact coffins. Things that people were buried with, clothes they were wearing etc. Yes I’m weird!! The badger was a lovely pub. Thanks Stu.
Me, again...(remember I asked about Haskayne last week?) Now I see Lymm where I grew up. It looks good still. I was last there about 40 years ago before I emigrated to NZ. Feels like I never left seeing the cross and stocks again 🙃 Glad you liked it.
The Badger at Church Minshall is fabulous from memory. I think it was about 1993 the last time I visited when me and family were doing the four counties ring.
We were moored in the same place in June on our 2 week cruise. It was the hottest night all Summer. Eaten alive by horseflies and I still have the marks. We also did the Badger but just for drinks. We're doing a week over Christmas passing through to Middlewich so it'll be very different experiencing mooring there when it was really hot to the Winter. Great video again and jeez that steam truck could move! 😳 Lol
@@Badjester1 it was a lovely mooring, though a terrible downhill road to the village! I mention that in the film I’m putting out tomorrow. That steam truck was magnificent!
@@NarrowboatNatterings yeah the guy in the Badger said don't take the road to us. We'd already taken the route over the stile through the woods. Mind you that was interesting coming back in the dark lol. Looking forward to the next video 👍
well done for getting a plum porter. fabulous beer. i had it for the first time in a pub off a country lane just outside rye in sussex. went straight into my beer top ten. it's a lovely brewery too, family owned and run based in stoke.
I have traced my boat family from barnton and when we visited the Barnton church graveyard I was shocked at how many of my family members where in there. Someone told me they are removing all the headstones to make room for cremations. That will be a lot of boat family’s history lost.
@@NarrowboatNatterings Its totally legal you purchase a grave I think its for about 100 years then they can remove them unless you can pay for the deed for the next 100 years and I cant do that there are way too many of them. One of them Levi Capper died at birth and there parents lived and run the public house opposite the church they could see there child's grave from the windows of the pub. 3 of them died in the same family all called Levi.
Thanks you. I need to do better at showing my locations on maps, in relation to where in the UK I actually am. Just stating in a caption where I am, might not mean anything to non uk residents.
The food looked nice but what is it with everywhere piling stuff up on itself?! You have to deconstruct it to eat anything & it’d look far nicer laid out on the plate properly.
