Do you see the brackets on each side bulging outward? I am seeing this on my garage door brackets and am worried if the springs are pushing outward when they are wound up. I had one cotter pin sheer off and the center shaft ended up pulled inside the bracket and lying inside the spring right next to the bracket (thank god the spring did not launch across the garage). Is there lateral tension from the springs being wound up? I now fear in that all that potential is being held at bay by a cotter pin?? What do you see on yours? Mine is a 10x10 tracrite 944 as well... Its identical to your door in this video.. maybe a little bigger, but the same door.
The newer doors have a release cog on the end of the shaft, but mine is an older model and doesn't have one , you have to carefully pull out the bolt on the good spring , watch it will spin around like crazy so keep ypour hands out of the way.

I have a broken spring and can't locate a replacement. Where did you get yours ?

How to release tension?

You use 2 pipe wrenches. There is another video that shows how.
I like to ratchet strap them and let them spin
