Remembering our past is one thing, but glorifying it is another. In my opinion these statues do more harm than good for the American people. It's a masked attempt to desensitize the American people that it eventually becomes unnoticeable acceptable in the minds and hearts of people. What the Black/ African American people need are statues at the very least, that empower and inspire them. Rather than pose statues of shame, we aught also to boldly and unapologetically showcase the positive history of our ancestors, who in their own right were mighty men and woman, of great esteem, power and influence as they were in Africa before tricked and enslaved and brought to the United States.
