The mnemonics does help! After learning the hiragana, I made a table on my notebook. In one column there is the hiragana, on the second column I write the mnemonics that Risa made on the video. If I want to know how to write the katakana sa, for example, I look it up for the hiragana sa, which I recognize, and I see that the mnemonic is "saddle". It helps me visualize the katakana easier that way, without showing me the charater (it is a little bit harder but makes the learning faster)

oh wait katakana isn't even close to enough, you need kanji, oh you've covered some of the basic kanji's? Haha now you've got to learn the grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, have fun! :D
When you're learning a language like Spanish or German, you already know the writing system (more or less), thousands of cognates, most of the grammar structures, and can easily make sense of the cultural quirks. And those languages still take many hundreds of hours to learn. With Japanese, you have none of those advantages going in. It is among the most foreign of foreign languages for English speakers. Most of us will never reach anything approaching fluency because we will have become discouraged long before that point (if we were ever really putting in the hours in the first place). Good luck to us all -- we're going to need it.

For me writing hiragana is hard because of the loops and curves in katakana much easier because its just like lines
はい!
I learned hiragana with this channel and I tried to use a different method to learn katakana but I swear I cant remember unless I use Risa's method of comparing a kana to a chicken or a telephone pole or a totem pole. That helps me remember so much.

anyways, katakana is difficult
Fun fact : this channel is 14 years old
I also found it today i am amazed 😳
I am so amazing i finished hiragana i can read japanese.....oh wait.......
oh wait katakana isn't even close to enough, you need kanji, oh you've covered some of the basic kanji's? Haha now you've got to learn the grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, have fun! :D
Mythical nice thing about Japanese though is that it’s all just memorization for the most part and it’s laid out for you
When you're learning a language like Spanish or German, you already know the writing system (more or less), thousands of cognates, most of the grammar structures, and can easily make sense of the cultural quirks.
@Guy Withaname
nice speech
but i think anime will encourage then to learn japanese cuz well
*weaboos*
Guy Withaname ill do my best,i mean this was a discouraging speech you got,but it also would prove that im fine to continue and if i dont lose my will ill do it.. also i have my own reasons to learn it so yeah. Kambare omaera..!
So heres my status...
Grammar: 2%
Sentence structure: 8%
Hiragana: 90%
Katakana: 80%

I still have a long way to go :/
