@@inquisitive980 I was just thinking that. Maybe Tim from Military Arms Channel could also review it since he is a huge fan of 10mm. Any idea how their revolvers hold up?
Good video. I own the full size, small frame version. It feels very good in the hand, as good or better than my SIG P210A--and that is really saying something. The SIG was over thirteen hundred dollars, the Tanfoglio was about 300 dollars. They are very similar in performance.
I've been a big fan of these guns for years. I have this same gun in the review with the .22 upper. I also have a .45 in wonder finish. The hard part is getting holsters and the fixed front site is something you need to train for because they don't always shoot to aim point but close enough for social work.
Outstanding, intelligent review. I became a new subscriber. My wife just bought me a 9mm compact Witness in stainless. Just got it this morning and looked up your review after her surprise. We're taking it to the range later this morning. Thx for the excellent info.
Good review well done. I had one of these with a polymer frame for practical shooting competition a few years ago. By the way you did pronounce it correctly, Tan- Fo-Lio. Silent G.
Another ? Showing my age again!! Love the pistol but plastic grips are for you young'uns. Us ol'fogies just have to have nicely checkered wood grips or smooth fancy grips with good wood grain lines. Will CZ grips fit the steel frame Tangfolio 9MM??
Another great review. I have one of these marked "match" in .45 ACP and it's incredibly accurate and reliable. You have pronounced Tanfoglio correctly, the "g" is silent. Keep up the good work.
Great to see someone referring to the features of a gun that indicate it's accuracy potential, excellent review. Hard to find a similar review of the Tanfoglio Force 22L, maybe you don't get those in the US.
That is correct to the best of my knowledge as well. If it's just the barrel you should be good but I wouldn't put a 10mm slide in a poly 40 frame. The 10mm Witnesses have a hard enough time in guns that designed for the 10mm as it is.
I own a witness with the decocker absolutely love the gun... super accurate with the barrel so low in your grip the recoil is very minimal... trigger in single action is amazing... hard to beat this gun for the price
I have a baby eagle 2 polymer and I’m debating between a polymer witness or a CZ phantom. I have a P99as for concealed carry so this purchase will be primarily a fun gun or occasional night stand duty.
Nice video, very informative and unbiased. Years ago I got the Tanfoglio Elite Match in 45ACP. It was a GREAT pistol BUT unfortunately for me I wish I got the EARLY 9mm one of the Elite Match because of the SIZE, I've got small hands and it at that time had the small frame. For some reason the larger frame with the 45acp chambering was not good for me, found the recoil impulse as unpleasant even though it was HEAVY. So I ended up trading it for a Tokorev high capacity like a BHP, which actually made the feel of the grip much better than the low capacity ones. 🤔😯😉👍😁😂
Very nice review, I've been eyeing these up, as I am looking for a Fuller size steel pistol in .40 S&W. These seem like an excellent value. Your reviews are very good. Keep up the good work brother!
I have a CZ 75 BD, which the Witness is based on, and I love it. The lower bore axis, along with the internal full-length rails make it as accurate as anything I have fired. The triggers as you mentioned, however, are a tad bit heavy in DA...hehe... Once again... a great video reviewing a great gun. Like the way you hit the pros and cons so thoroughly. Great job!
Great review-just found it. I own and really like my older all steel 9mm with fixed sights. Any suggestions on trigger jobs? Also need a holster (no pic rail on the bottom) Suggestions?
I started to have some malfunctions with my Witness steel compact. At first it was just certain hollowpoints, but now it happened with FMJ and Critical Defense. I made a video about it, which sucks because I really love the gun :(. Maybe you can help diagnose the issue? EAA Witness malfunction
Really? I just looked at all your videos and they're awesome. I need to learn from you rather than the Beretta, Colt, Sig, and Glock armorors courses I've been through. Perhaps my trigger pull is different than yours or your gauge is out of spec.
Good to know about the positive warranty experience. Historically, EAA has not been known to be stellar in that department. Maybe they're improving, as I've always liked those guns.
I rarely do that but sometimes I just can't take the trolls... I may not know everything about every gun but I have a decent base of knowledge; comments like that are just absurd. Thank you.
What holster do you use if you use one while the light is mounted. I am getting a Sarslimaz k2 45 and plan on mounting a TLR-1HL light to it. From what I can see the dimesions closely mimic the beretta 92a1.
An incredible value for the money. A solid and accurate large framed pistol, it has a very smooth pull which feels to me as smooth as a Colt Python. Why it's not more popular or as well known is a mystery to me but it is a top performer. IMO it is superior to the Colt/Browning design because the slide's rails ride inside of the frame making each shot more accurate.
I just bought the polymer model. The instruction manual says not to fire +p. Is this because of the polymer frame? or are they just covering their butts. I fire regular 9mm ball ammo to practice but keep a magazine of +p for home defense, I hope this is ok.
Bear Thehunter +p ammo was designed for short barrel pistols to compensate the bullets lack of velocity due to shorter barrel lengths. any 9mm with a 4-5" barrel dosent require +p ammo. for self defense you should be fine with any premium American made sd hollowpoint ammo.
I understand that before 2009 there was a small frame version that took .40 & below. Then they made a large frame that took everything. I've heard Sootch00 mention caliber conversions straight across for the poly guns.
How it fares against CZ 75 SP-01? Taking under consideration it's been a long time since you have posted this video. I don't know if I should choose go for CZ, or its knock-offs: P-120, or this Witness gun. Jericho is hard to find these days. What's your opinion?
i,m glad to hear its plus p rated. now a question, if you dont get the converion kit, how much does the 22lr conversion kit cost if purchased seperately?
What ammo would be recommended for this firearm in terms of protection? In plainer terms, ammo that won't fail to feed, blow up, or destroy the inner parts of the gun itself...
This one wasn't too bad but between the sun and the compression that TH-cam throws into the vids, sometimes the chrono numbers are hard to see, maybe, toss a graphic up with the number just so it's clear?
Hey after cocking back the slide of this gun before entering the mag then cocked it back again with mag in and shot it once and the whole slide cocked back again after shooting it and stayed cocked back but it didn’t jam can you help ?
how does the width of the grips feel compared to the sar k2 45acp doublestack or compared to a 1911 ? I want to buy one but their kind of rare around here to go and feel one out. i recently bought a new k2 45 and quikly sold it, the grips were a tad to wide for my hands. lesson learned...
Thanks for the review on this gun, not very familiar with it so the review helped. I know you also reviewed the Taurus PT111 9mm. Which one do you like better; EAA Witness 9mm or Taurus PT111 G2 9mm?
I am confused about your statement regarding the 10 mm version having a different frame could you please confirm that? Do you know we can put full size slides onto the compact version? Or the 6" match barrels onto the compact?
I have both the TZ and CZ and I like them both. The TZ is about half the price and mine has an awesome trigger...must better than my CZ. Maybe it is just broken in. Extremely reliable and good shooter.
I'm looking into a Witness 9mm steel compact at my local GS. It will be used at the range and CCW when I get my license. While 30 oz its well balanced in my hand. What are your opinions on this firearm vs say a M&P9c, pro's/cons.
ever thought of changing them to a fiber optic or luminous or its ok that way? Here in the Phils we have kind of gun too locally named Map1. Its no made here only assembled, parts are from tanfoglio. however there some differences like ours has fixes sights. So you know its why i'm asking a few stuffs to know If I really should go for that. One advantage that gun has over anything else is that its retailed by a local arms manufacturing so parts are a non issue. But there are others better.
Thanks for the reply. I'll be ordering a glock , I love my g26 and I don't gamble(I don't need any cracking issues). Do you think a g29sf will be too rough to shoot or should I just get the g20?
I don't know that much about handguns. I am purchasing the eaa tangfolio witness but, I do want to compare it to a 19 glock. If you could be of any help?
This review is getting old. Thumbs up for more Tanfoglio videos :)
Ditto on more Tanfo love!
How about one for the 10 mm
@@inquisitive980 I was just thinking that. Maybe Tim from Military Arms Channel could also review it since he is a huge fan of 10mm.
Any idea how their revolvers hold up?
@@Jeff.78 No idea on revolvers have not had one in many years. Unfortunately I sold it for a song. It was a 6" plated Python with Ellison sights.
Good video. I own the full size, small frame version. It feels very good in the hand, as good or better than my SIG P210A--and that is really saying something. The SIG was over thirteen hundred dollars, the Tanfoglio was about 300 dollars. They are very similar in performance.
Can you give an update on the Witness after some time and shooting? Considering one and read a lot about the pros and cons.

Never even the slightest issue with 9mm---it eats everything.
Going to buy this for sure, for the price, quality, and round capacity, it's a hell of a deal!!!!
enjoy
Thanks! You guys do us all justice with your video reviews.
I own this pistol in 45 ACP. I both carry and fire it in Condition 1. It is a joy to shoot and very accurate.
redalrt4 awesome.
This is my first handgun and I can't wait to shoot it. Cool to see the .22 kit in action. Thanks for the great video.
I would recommend it as a first handgun for sure. Reliable, simple design, accurate, ect.....
The EAA Witness is a great gun, much better than my former CZ SP01.
thanks for the report
Another ? Showing my age again!! Love the pistol but plastic grips are for you young'uns. Us ol'fogies just have to have nicely checkered wood grips or smooth fancy grips with good wood grain lines. Will CZ grips fit the steel frame Tangfolio 9MM??
prices gone up! wish they're under 500! I guess that means the fun is doing good! thanks for the review!
Good feedback there; thanks. I'll post the numbers when I get a second to plug them into a calculator.
Thanks for the review! I've been looking at one of these as a kind of "understudy " to my 10mm. Your review was very helpful!
Thanks

It would seem that decocker/double action is the point. If you wanted single action cocked and locked just get a high power.
I traded my Glock 17 for a EAA Witness Classic full frame....And will never go back to Glock after firing the Witness
Great
Ar 15 pistol

The '75 variants tend to all be very accurate guns for sure.
Just to be clear--are you talking about putting a 40 CONVERSION BARREL in a 10mm slide or a 40 slide/barrel/spring assembly in a 10mm frame?
I haven't really thought about it as I don't really use it for defense so it's not that important to me but it would be a nice upgrade for sure.
Thanks. Welcome to the channel.
Well done! Made my mind up for the Tanfo. over Sar B6 or CZ 75 B ... Thanks!!!
I had a Bul Cherokee 9mm which is the Israeli version of the EAA Witness 9mm you have. Awesome gun!! Great reviews!
A good 1st handgun for the price. Personally I prefer a striker fire hand gun. Thanks for showing it.

Awesome gun had one a long time ago miss it. But fond one recently and think im going to buy it after seeing this. Thanks
I have; I think I referenced the 10mm issues in the video. If not I referenced in my G20C video (they all blur together in my head!) :D

Thank you. No to both, sorry.
I like your channel because its all business no games. Also this gun is spectacular.
Thank you
You Honest Outlaw Darrin300x have made videos on how this is a good budget gun. However I can't find this version. All I see are the polymer versions.
This made me chuckle. GREAT review, man. I was on the fence(possibly purchasing tonight), and this pushed me off of it. SOLD.
Would this be a good choice for 3 gun competition? I notice most use a Glock.
+Wireline .Cables certainly could be
Hmm.... That I'm not sure of. I'd check with RKBA or Forest City Tactical.
Thanks.

Alessandro Masucci Indeed
Alessandro Masucci it isnt as popular because nobody is throwing a ton of money into marketing in the US.
I just bought the polymer model. The instruction manual says not to fire +p. Is this because of the polymer frame? or are they just covering their butts. I fire regular 9mm ball ammo to practice but keep a magazine of +p for home defense, I hope this is ok.
Not sure, sorry
The same polymer frame is good for 10mm. Probably it has more to do with the correct recoil spring tension.
Personally, I'd err to the side of safety and go with what the manual says.
Bear Thehunter I'm sure if you only shoot +P ammo when it matters then the gun will be fine.
10mm and 38 super also available.
I think you'll like it as a first gun---it's a lot of gun for the money.
Great video and review!
Does it have the same grip width compared to the Glock 17? Thanks
Thanks; not sure
The actual pronunciation is tan-foe-glee-o it's on the front page of eaa's website. But it took me a long time to figure that out. But great review.
great video as always. trying to decide between xdm 4.5 and this one. what would you choose?.
XDM

Big difference is weight/size and trigger system. Neither is better than the other---just different.
Which would you all prefer or think is the better witness the steel or the poly model??
Saw your CZ SP-01 review. Is the CZ better quality/tighter than the EEA? Or can you not tell the difference?

This pistol grip size is comparable to the Browning HiPower or the CZ 75, 9mm's grip frames are quite a bit smaller than .45's.

Forgot to ask- any issues feeding with the straight 9mm? I saw just the mention while using the .22 conversion kit, but thought I'd ask.
No worries! I appreciate the response!!! Good vids man!!!
This pistol is an actual copy of the Czech Alfa proj Combat 9mm gun developed in 1980 and manufactured in the same city near the CZ factory
In the video I use both the TLR1 and TLR2 with the 1913 insert. I think that's what you're asking but if not let me know.
Thank you.
They're removable.
I understand the jams in the 22, however how does the 9 mm work?
Thank you.
