  • I serviced this Bolex for a customer, i think it's fun to share my methods and knowledge of these machines. English spoken so my international friends can understand it to.

    Many thanks for the incredible video, Erik! Your expert instructions got my M8 going again, and I was able to remove that capacitor before it blew up, because it was making a slight humming sound. Now it runs as new!

    Thank´s a lot Erik! You made my M8 running again! Subscibed. My old projektor, 1 year ago, made a loud puff and stopped running. I didn´t know what to do now, so it went back into the case. Now alife again. What can I do else abot the lamp? In very dim daylight, it is impossible to see an image properly in a distance of 4 meters, normal screen in a small room. Was that normal, back in the 1950/60`s ? I mean, that is at least a 500W bulb, I saw in USA, that Keystone projectors with similar lamps produce a much lighter image. Regards!

    Hi,
    I have an old sankyo 8 mm projector. The motor doesn't work at all, and I guess I need to replace it. Where can I find spare parts to buy, and is it possible for someone who is not an expert to fix it?

    Awesome video. Just bought one of these for cheap. It's a bit dirty and needs a service and I'll be changing the caps before trying to run it. Do you know where I can find a service manual?

    I have same M8 ! It runs fine but the stop/start switch needs to be held in place for the light to operate. Any suggestions ?

    Thank you so much for your very interesting repair video. I have a question: I have two different projectors paillard Bolex M8, one is much more noisier than the other one. Have you any suggestion ? Perhaps is it the ventilator ? For the rest, the projection of a film is without problem. Just terribly noisy.

      I would think a difference in how it was maintained over the years. One well lubricated and the other not. You could try to lubricate it

    Hi Erik, I have a Vintage Paillard Bolex G-16 16mm Projector. I believe the motor is burned out. I say this cause it smokes when I turn it on. It was working about 8 years ago. Is there a way to repair the motor?

    We have a vintage Bolex 1952/3 film projector Erik, left by my Husbands father. It has a 240volt feed but the bulb gets very hot after a short time and we are scared to use it. Is there a way to adapt it for LED’s to keep the heat down but retain the luminosity? Thanks you for any help, we have so many old reels we would love to watch.

    • @eriksnel6461
      @eriksnel6461  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, you would need a powerfull led and they also generate a lot of heat. You would also need a new power supply and a big heat sink. So there are no great advantages to change it to led. The heat generated by these old style lamps is very great but as long as the film is running they cant damage the film. As soon as the film gets stuck it will burn the frame instantly. If you dont thrust the projector i would look for a much younger one . The eumig mark 605/607/610D perhaps. There are many and thus relatively cheap. They are good quality machines and when serviced right they are very gentle for your precious film. And they use a halogen lamp which produces a lot less heat. Make sure its dual gauge for super 8 and regular 8.

      @@lynkirklandencausticwaxart7890 well you shouldn’t throw it out offcourse, it is still a very pretty machine to put on display. And as i show in this video there are ways to make it a bit safer. But ripping the light out and put a led in it will only end in disappointment i’m affraid. You could search for an 8mm film in like a thrift store or online and use it as en expendable film to see if the projector does burn the film or not before you try and play your precious own films.

    Helo, my bolexe’s claw is tearing the film, what may be the issue?

    • @eriksnel6461
      @eriksnel6461  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There can be many reasons. My first guess is that the top and bottom loop are not big enough. Or the film is not properly seated in the sprockets so it loses the loops
