Been there taking gearboxes out of cars outside my terrace back in the day. Woke up one morning to find my Reliant Robin upside down! Think the local drunks had turned it over. No real harm done thankfully. Before I had a proper car and a driveway.

Easier way remove circlip run engine and hold on the lock stops. It will blow out the seal. Messy but it works.
