I hope Carlton don't even consider trading Harry. Quality big forwards are hard to come by. As good as Petracca is, there are many more of his size players than quality key position players
I think so, it's not like a Michael Barlow situation where his horrific leg injury changed his ability to step off/change direction etc. The only thing that may change is his mentality, possible fear but that can be overcome.
Petrecca needs to harder up ...life isn't always about what you want. ...as soon as it gets a little.bit hard....he wants out. Wow imagine if every other player has this. He also commented that he didn't like Sunday footy...very typical of a private school mentality
@nevvanclarke9225 of course it's a team game but when the team is dishonest or setting poor standards and you feel as though your not getting valued for your commitment it's time to get out. This is when mental health issues start to occur because you feel stuck in the environment you once felt welcomed
Yeah 5 years to go, huge money. AFL is becoming like premier league, players seem to have a lot of power and more selfish. These long term deals are a double edged sword.
Obviously Carlton and the Pies would love to have Petracca in their mix - and let's not forget the Bombers, but the price is going to be horrendous. Realistically, if the criteria is that it has to be a big power club in Melbourne then it's one of those three. I'm not sure that he is as much benefit to the Baggers as he would be to Essendon and to a lesser extent, Collingwood. Carlton have a host of similar players - perhaps not as good, apart from their captain and I think Harry Makay and Charlie Curnow are more value to them than he would be. Collingwood don't have the currency that will be required so that leaves the Bombers. I'm not sure they have the player currency either so I'm not sure where that leaves him. One thing is certain - interesting times ahead!
Actually I dont think so, this staying silent doesn't work in the players favour if he wants a shift, id say Petracca has already expressed a wish to be traded until finals are over nothing concrete will be said, I recon he's been got at the injury and culture etc are just an excuse, im surprised there saying the Blues and to say Curnow and Mackay have been asked like you couldn't make it up if there wasn't some truth in it, Pies is where I was thinking, Bombers forget it, and the buying club will come up with a decent deal, I think it could involve 3 or 4 clubs assuming one of those key Blue forwards dont want to go. This is going to linger on until trade week....we are all going to be so tired of it..
The way he’s spoken, I would not be overly keen on chasing Petracca, he seems disillusioned with the game after this serious injury, I don’t feel his heart will be 100% in the game again anytime soon.
@@Littleyeti7 I tend to agree with you Littleyeti. He wouldn't be human if he wasn't tentative now about being in the front of a pack and generally being concerned about injuries. After all, his injuries were horrific. Will this make him a lesser player? Who knows? maybe yes, maybe no but the point is, he does carry a degree of risk and it comes with a huge price tag.
Carlton surely has enough stocky, big bodied, slow midfielders. Its only my opinion, but Carlton needs less of these stocky contested midfielders & more of the outside fast midfielders. Would have thought Collingwood or even the Dogs would be a better fit for him, & dare i say it the club who gets everyone (Geelong)
Well Lloydy has to ask him specifically, & he goes onto say "I think..." so he doesn't know. He mentions the Clayton Oliver situation having an impact on Melbourne..what is this Clayton Oliver situation, we hear about it but no one tells us what the real issues are with him.
@@ytQrashbut it's just his thoughts, nothing more by the sounds of it. Normally it's something like, he wants to go home, or wants to be played in this or that position, or salary cap etc
After their premiership win, they became serious coke heads. One of their players Joel Smith got done for drug trafficking, and Melbourne lost their form. Petracca probably wants to seperate himself from that culture.

McKay doesn't move the needle towards a flag for Melbourne. As well as McKay always playing next to Curnow probably hides a lot of his deficiencies as a forward. Always getting the second best defender on him each week due to Curnow stealing the attention. McKay hypothetically for the demons with the best key defender on him each week, getting fed by an average midfield with potentially no Viney or Petracca doesn't scream top 4/premierships contenders etc. Melbourne has to be asking for the house if a trade is to be done with Carlton/Collingwood etc.

Assuming most of this is right the only answer is Petracca has been got at, the injury and they way it was handled is an excuse to get out, id take Mackay no problems, Petracca is a match winner but not a 4 quarter player, unlike Oliver prior to this season, will and does go missing in games, I think he's best is behind him still of course worthy of a place in the 23, @ 28 how much longer do you think he can perform, Dustin Martin was finished by 31, I watch this guy week in week out and In not fazed if he's not at Melbourne next year.
