The European honeybee, which are the honey bees European settlers brought the US, love sugar. They are routinely found in parking lots, gas stations, and anywhere else people dump things such as soda pop on the ground. They are typically fairly docile. Love your event discussions always, but your last mention about why doesn't anyone who steals your credit card try to buy anything fun reminded me of something that happened as a kid! My parents' card got stolen and i was around when they took the call from the bank, who asked where they were and when they confirmed that we were at home, said "Okay, so it isn't you trying to buy $12,000 worth of trees at a nursery in France then." 😂😂 Gotta commend whoever took the card for going big or going home!
I'm just imagining that weird dude at the Stallion show was just leaning in the same way that Michael Jackson would, doing that whilst making full eye contact and just getting nothing at all. And just not taking the hint, getting closer, lower and more despondent each time. wow. Getting scammed and you personal info getting stolen at TwitchCon being one of the worst things to happen, is pretty surprising considering that Twitch's user base is what it is, and some past events I'm aware of. 21+ would definitely help though, though as a luddite that doesn't drink or gamble (my father had his thumbs cut off by the Samoan mob, he owed an artisan a Persian rug he lost in a snail race gamble), gambling and getting pissed is eh to me. props to having a good sense of🐍's

The whole Twomad thing is insane to me.. Maybe its because I'm from the UK, but having to live with thst level of fear over your head for you and your friends/loved ones is just... Insane, I think thats why a lot of non Americans struggle with the whole gun culture thing...
Was my first time at Twitchcon, I had an artist alley booth and my god all the construction was a nightmare for the artists to load in. I am praying it goes back to San Diego ☠
I absolutely love how opinionated you are and how you always talk explicitly about the personal aspects of being a creator. It's a really interesting look inside.
Clout chasing is so annoying and never subtle. I used to be a VTuber and left - one of the main reasons was that it was almost impossible to have a genuine interaction with someone, be they fan or fellow creator and that is exhausting. Even with my art, I don't do commissions because of ✨art school trauma✨so the only way to get art from me is if I choose to gift it to you - and that of course brings people who try to befriend me thinking it will mean they get showered in free art.
Art school trauma is kind of real. I also have people every once in a while expecting free art from me, and there’s no nice way to tell them that at this point I have no altruistic creative bone left in my body. I’m either doing it for myself, my portfolio, or I’m getting paid.
Glad to see Twitch Con hasnt changed. I went to Twitch Con back in 2016 as just a fan, never streamed, and the barnacle/clout chasing was rampant back then too. It was everyone trying to climb the ladder, get connections, work their business. Which is fine, but also felt skeezy too. So, I totally get what you mean.
I low key was looking out for you 😂 I was so mad they didn’t have more heat\sun cover for the food area and line outside. It was a bit much for me on the Friday even with sunscreen, the lack of water from hotel prices and everything was already seeping in xD Area15 was so fun, as it was my first real adventure in Vegas. The strip was great, I had steak twice! And my hotel ended up charging more than originally planned. I personally didn’t gamble and would love to see it in Cali / not in the desert next year, otherwise I’d pass. It was my first event being partnered though so I’m glad they had the partner party and lounge, the finger food was lack luster though and I got Covid for the first time.
Re creator size: I think when I first started watching you, your sub numbers were around 250k and you called yourself a mid-sized creator then. Now you're 419k. There's got to be a number threshold that TH-cam itself uses if nothing else. I wonder where the breaks actually are.
I'm an event planner for a construction company and have done many events at the LVCC...so neat to hear your thoughts and perspective on an event space I'm familiar with. I've had my card skimmed in Vegas too!
I’ve worked there. It’s a nightmare in my opinion too. I think it has a lot of potential but there’s just something that isn’t completely right about it. 😂
The main reason i and may hate twitch is the lack of transparency on what they do (even worse than TH-cam), there ownership by amazon, and the only way you could succeed is if you already had a following. They don't promote anyone that does not already have a massive following. At least TH-cam will recommend your streams to pretty much anyone that would possibly be interested. People looking at Twitch being the "default streaming platform" is very 2015 and I'm happy we have more options. Just a bad platform considering how TH-cam works
Last time I went to Vegas it was like looking at the past, like you could tell it was once great but everything is so tacky, old, and dirty looking. I’m glad they’re bringing in all those events to Vegas. Hopefully it’ll give it some new life
This Twitchcon was my first con ever to have a booth for myself in Artist Alley. It was free booth so I took the opportunity and it paid off! I actually made a profit having to travel from FL, so I am super thankful for Twitch for it. I feel everyone was super chill and had meet a lot of people. A lot of other artists said it was a lot slower then other cons, but that probably is because it was in Vegas. Overall, was good experience and if the past ones were better can't wait for next years if back in San Diego.
So I went to Final Fantasy Festival this year and it was held at the Vegas Convention Center and goodness, that was absolutely MISERABLE. None of the staff knew what they were doing, it was not very ADA friendly, they had us standing in lines outside in the blazing sun cause it was held at the end of July and just an amalgamation of other things. I definitely think conventions like TwitchCon, Fan Fest or any other nerd gathering should not be held in Vegas since there's not much to do except drink and gamble :/
My sister had her card taken. They tried to buy $1,000 worth of chips from Amazon🤣 She had luckily just drained her account to pay her college semester off the day before.
I always worry about Amanda's safety because she does most of this stuff by herself. She sounds like she takes every precaution she can, like not drinking, to keep herself safe.
I believe Amanda's stance on this is that she's a full grown woman and while she appreciates us worrying, we should also trust that she knows how to keep herself safe and not to baby her :)
Watching this was so bittersweet. I was at twitchcon and had a terrible time, couldn't go to any of the after parties, it was just all bad. Not because of the actual events though, those were fine.
i think Ludwig has desensitized me to the word "scam" because I clicked this thinking it was clickbait talking about a dumb mistake Ludwig would usually make and then he says he got """"scammed""""
On the last point, I know several creators who streamed for years on Twitch to maybe a few dozen people, then they started a TH-cam channel which caused their twitch streams to start getting hundreds to thousands of concurrent viewers.
I just did a double take seeing someone I know from Twitch (Skootish) on one of my favorite TH-cam channels! It's interesting to hear your TH-camr perception of the clout-chasing culture on Twitch. Not a surprising experience at all. I've found TH-cam communities to have more humility and interest in value and learning than numbers. Side note--if you remember a woman with a bun who tapped you on the shoulder at VidSummit like "OMG I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS" while walking past you in a flow of walking traffic, that was me!
I was in a mall, out of state, when i suddenly heard running and screaming. A lot of people stayed to suddenly run into the store i was in and out the back door. It was absolutely terrifying to be in a situation like that. There was apparently a fight that had broken out and people heard gun shots going off. It was a false alarm but in the moment you feel the true panic of a real experience.
As for the Twitchcon party at Area15, I think it was fun and offered variety for different crowds Food and 3 drinks included. The place had different areas you could sit and talk with friends in a less crowded and less noisy setting. If you wanted jam out, the music area with DJ fit those needs. If you came by yourself, the place offered activities you can do solo. As for being in Vegas, I do like that I had stuff to do after the convention. I went to see the new Sphere video show and U2 at the Sphere so that made for great entertainment. My hotel was at one of the monorail stations so that did make for easier transporation this time around. I like San Diego but I just feel bars and restaurants are all to do after the convention.
Someone stole my debit card info and spent like $400 at a liquor store. My bank reimbursed all my money, so I’m just like, slay, my man, that must have been an awesome free party. 😂
Honestly I'm not interested in /don't relate to 90% of swell's content but listening to Amanda talk relaxes my brain. If we met somehow I'd be super embarrassed and wouldn't know what to say 😅
I love your videos but if you’re going to put a content warning, it’s really important to say WHAT the content warning is about-not just “a sensitive topic.” I had no idea you were going to talk about an alleged mass shooting. Please keep this in mind for the future!
Skootish telling denims that you were talking shit is so typical of him, he's such a chaotic person. I love him as a streamer though, don't get me wrong. Sorry to hear your card got stolen/scammed during Twitchcon! Sounds like it was an alright experience overall. I enjoyed this video essay about your experience!! ❤
Nothing really to do with the topic of this video, but I just have to say that the shade of green in your sweater looks REALLY good on you. Complements you skin tone, eyes, and hair. Perfect. Get more things in that colour. That's it. That's the comment.
Hey Amanda, Just wanted to let you know I really enjoy and appreciate looking at your content, it definitely helps me look at spaces as well as make a checklist in case I ever do plan an event what I should do to make it safe as well as fun for everyone!
By view and subscriber count, you're technically a mid-size creator. But you also get great engagement on your videos, and the type of content you make attracts attention from people in the online video/influencer industry. So you have a lot more influence than the average mid-size creator.
I had my card info stolen the same way you did. I still had my physical card but they had gotten the info and they used it a few months back and spent around $600 buying food at Disneyland. I live in socal so I was able to recognize the vendor names right away. I called my bank the same day and was able to get my money back thankfully.
I think there is a degree of clout chasing needed to grow on twitch because it can be pretty hard to convert your viewers from youtube or tiktok into becoming regular twitch viewers unless your content was based on live content. It can be easier to get other regular twitch viewers to start liking your content and stay in your streams
for future vegas events, if you are staying somewhere near or on the strip, take the monorail to the convention center! its SO much less of a headache, you may have to walk a little if its in west hall though.
As an past las Vegas resident and Worker. It was a shit show even before F1 came, outside of Flaming street it's a 3rd world environment (Its sad but true). I did NOT expect to see my friend Skootish in this video LOOOOOL So sad I wasn't there to see him again, or meet you there! But thank you for making this video and making me almost spit out my water seeing how he almost got you punched in the face! HAHAHA
I went to pride fest this year to support a friend who wanted to go. I bought a sugar cookie. Ended up getting my debit card info stolen by someone so tried to pay their iPhone bill and karate lessons.
I've heard from a couple people that twitch con is better if you're a streamer and if you're just a fan of twitch streamers you might be a bit bored. It is a good place to meet up with some of your twitch friends though. I didn't really wanna go to Vegas this year but if it's in San Diego next year, and more of my twitch friends go, I might go as well.

Reports are that overall con numbers were down because people spent more time doing vegas than con
My parents just went to Vegas recently, and when my dad came back he said he saw some “twitchcon” happening, and my first thought was that I was excited to see your vid on it lol
i was JUST thinking about binging more event video essays and amanda has IMPECCABLE timing 👏
I get barnacles at concerts. Except instead of using me to talk to others, they just adopt me as their sober friend. I don't understand it, nor do I care for it, but it's been happening to me for almost 15 years.
The European honeybee, which are the honey bees European settlers brought the US, love sugar. They are routinely found in parking lots, gas stations, and anywhere else people dump things such as soda pop on the ground. They are typically fairly docile. I work two hives every other week and don’t even need to wear protective gear with one of them. Thanks for the video!😊
"I'll gamble a little!" 600 bucks...man I gambled 20 and won 40, I am so broke 😂
21+ would definitely help though, though as a luddite that doesn't drink or gamble (my father had his thumbs cut off by the Samoan mob, he owed an artisan a Persian rug he lost in a snail race gamble), gambling and getting pissed is eh to me.
props to having a good sense of🐍's
bro WHAT 😭😭
you need to elaborate on that story bc WHAT
I huh?
speedojesus lore real???
You just said that so matter of fact 😆
Amanda I think you are forgetting how many of your followers actually have anxiety... I wasn't even at twitchcon and I was worried there was a chance I had been the one that freaked you out a little bit lmao
RIGHT HAHAHA
Ngl, I had to pause to remind myself that I didn't go, so it wasn't me 😅
@@elucified LOL same I also had to consciously like remind myself lol even though i'm not even in the same country!
I don't think it was an anxiety thing guys
@notville_changing your profile pic won't save your spam account, trash. This spam account encourages self harm in their profile too.
Amanda: it's funny you guys think I have inside sources
Also Amanda: I heard from the _grapevine_
Clout chasing is so annoying and never subtle. I used to be a VTuber and left - one of the main reasons was that it was almost impossible to have a genuine interaction with someone, be they fan or fellow creator and that is exhausting. Even with my art, I don't do commissions because of ✨art school trauma✨so the only way to get art from me is if I choose to gift it to you - and that of course brings people who try to befriend me thinking it will mean they get showered in free art.
What's the art school trauma? It has been over a decade since I went and I still have a crazy creative block
Guys if you are not aware...i adore this lady.....such grt articulation
Definitely. Heyetsamandyouwatchingswellenertainment
Creeps
on my TH-cam channel i do food reviews while I’m super high
Agreed, but you couldn’t spell out great?
@@TheNinjapancake14 - There's too many people watching/posting from their phones to make being a grammar-Nazi fun anymore.
Re creator size: I think when I first started watching you, your sub numbers were around 250k and you called yourself a mid-sized creator then. Now you're 419k. There's got to be a number threshold that TH-cam itself uses if nothing else. I wonder where the breaks actually are.
I would totally watch Amanda talk about F1.
Absolutely! I didn't clock Amanda as a F1 fan, so I was kinda shocked that one of my favourite creators enjoys watching the same sport as me!
That’s it, that’s your credit card info
Genuinely wish she put the creators she speaks about tags and or names in the description so that I could check them out as well!
Me too, she's spoken about hassin before but I have no idea who that is
@@nunpho his channel is called bad days
@@nunphoYou can see him in her vidcon Baltimore video
I mean, I don’t think a trigger warning does much if you don’t specify what the triggers are. It didn’t affect me at all, just something I noticed
I saw that title and I was still surprised by that opening line
Last time I went to Vegas it was like looking at the past, like you could tell it was once great but everything is so tacky, old, and dirty looking. I’m glad they’re bringing in all those events to Vegas. Hopefully it’ll give it some new life
only a little disappointed swell didn’t cover willneff falling ten stories in an elevator
“one of you were freaking me out a lil bit” lmaooooo i need more details that sounds hilarious
I've been binge watching all your videos the past week and its been a blast ngl
My sister had her card taken. They tried to buy $1,000 worth of chips from Amazon🤣 She had luckily just drained her account to pay her college semester off the day before.
I always worry about Amanda's safety because she does most of this stuff by herself. She sounds like she takes every precaution she can, like not drinking, to keep herself safe.
I believe Amanda's stance on this is that she's a full grown woman and while she appreciates us worrying, we should also trust that she knows how to keep herself safe and not to baby her :)
@elucified Cool, but worrying about someone is not babying them. Op is not losing sleep over this.
Watching this was so bittersweet. I was at twitchcon and had a terrible time, couldn't go to any of the after parties, it was just all bad. Not because of the actual events though, those were fine.
could you not go bc you are 18-20 or was it scheduling?
@@tencelTechnologist It was just a bunch of not so personal but still personal shit involving my travel companion and some streamers
Girl thats a lot of money, the most ive ever gambled and lost is 20 bucks
i think Ludwig has desensitized me to the word "scam" because I clicked this thinking it was clickbait talking about a dumb mistake Ludwig would usually make and then he says he got """"scammed""""
Same, I came in this thinking "it couldn't have been that bad?" and then it hit me in the face.
On the last point, I know several creators who streamed for years on Twitch to maybe a few dozen people, then they started a TH-cam channel which caused their twitch streams to start getting hundreds to thousands of concurrent viewers.
I find that twitch is pretty awful for discoverability. Their search function isn't good either. Maybe I'm just too used to TH-cam
Ew they should have a “no corporates” rule for the creator’s lounge
new merch: You bring the event, We bring the debauchery -Las Vegas Tourism Board
🙄
Skootish telling denims that you were talking shit is so typical of him, he's such a chaotic person. I love him as a streamer though, don't get me wrong.
Sorry to hear your card got stolen/scammed during Twitchcon! Sounds like it was an alright experience overall. I enjoyed this video essay about your experience!! ❤
Nothing really to do with the topic of this video, but I just have to say that the shade of green in your sweater looks REALLY good on you.
Complements you skin tone, eyes, and hair. Perfect. Get more things in that colour.
That's it. That's the comment.
I fear being a barnacle because if someone is nice to me I dangle around with them partially due to fear of ditching someone.
Idk why but hearing about the bees is what really made it ridiculous
Hey Amanda, Just wanted to let you know I really enjoy and appreciate looking at your content, it definitely helps me look at spaces as well as make a checklist in case I ever do plan an event what I should do to make it safe as well as fun for everyone!
Had to point out the auto caption at the end turns "And that's gonna be it, have a lovely day" to "And that's been the apple of the day" 26:40
By view and subscriber count, you're technically a mid-size creator. But you also get great engagement on your videos, and the type of content you make attracts attention from people in the online video/influencer industry. So you have a lot more influence than the average mid-size creator.
5:25 As an AFAB person who goes to anime cons, I know that feeling 💀
I love watching your videos when I have lunch or dinner. I sit down all comfy with my food and watch you roast conventions! Lots of fun ❤
That facial expression you had when you paused perfectly communicated too hot and bees.
Thanks for this swell video, Swell!
SWELL YOUR AN F1 FAN??? What teams do you cheer for? please if you do go to a GP can you do a review?
That's terrifying. The main reason I can't go to cons any more
Im surprised u didnt mention the horrible elevators at the hotel they put streamers up in n how they almost killed will neff
I've never been to TwitchCon but it looked like fun. If I go next year, I'll be sure to use your card and plenty of KBBQ
‘F in no, not if you’re gonna do this shit’ lmao I feel that so much
i know it's annoying but the whole point of this cons for brands is to connect to creators. they will never stop or else they won't pay to be there.
As an past las Vegas resident and Worker. It was a shit show even before F1 came, outside of Flaming street it's a 3rd world environment (Its sad but true). Im sorry that you had to deal with the scam but it a common thing there. Hope you have a great new year and i hope your channel to grow we need more creators like you.
I can't believe somone would make a "joke" about drinking a pew pew to event. It just ruins it for everyone. And yes always act as if is real, because one time had a "drill" at school and turned out was real (confirmed via kids sneaking pics)
Anyways, fact he doesn't care he should be banned just in vase he tries do it now tor the "lolz" with a water one.
Oh man you better than me 😅 if someone told essentially a stranger that I was talking mad s*it I'd never want hand or be around them again cause if gonna just randomly instigate for the "lolz" then yeahhh you not company I wanna keep around.
Adriana Chechik broke her back because Twitch’s care for safety is nonexistent
I think most streamers struggle to find an audience on youtube so someone of your channel size is really huge to even like decently high viewership streamers
I’ve had my bank card stolen once but honestly I felt kinda bad for them because they bought food and then went right to a kids clothing store specifically. Idk I got my money back but I hope if they really had kids they got them some clothes
what you're describing for the merch is amazing literally sounds like my dream commission omg
Recently started watching your videos and now know your an F1 fan...im even more invested now...love the videos!
Please do not rule out Las Vegas as a host city in the future - there is something for everyone once an effort is made to search them out.
I did NOT expect to see my friend Skootish in this video LOOOOOL
So sad I wasn't there to see him again, or meet you there! But thank you for making this video and making me almost spit out my water seeing how he almost got you punched in the face! HAHAHA
25:55 one time someone used my credit card info to buy $500 worth of chocolate LMAO
