Good video Aaron & glad you were enjoying the Apex. I doubt very much whether water has found it's way inside as they are very well protected for use in heavy rain, the issue with headphones we have seen before & seems totally random, it's been mentioned below by someone else to make sure the electronics are on the side of the body that you are swinging from, this means your receiver & transmitter are closer to each other & no head in between. Most manufacturers limit the amount of power their transmitters put out & some people find having the headphones on the other way around really does make a difference.
Interesting video? Some people have had problems, others none. 180 Felixstowe hunter has just got the apex and seems to be getting decent results. Have a look at his latest video. Shows a test with turning the headphones around etc. Good luck .
Yeah cheers mark. I honestly believe there's a few faulty batches been sent out that's missed final inspection maybe 🤷🏼♂️ can't say for certain but mines working extremely well - no issues at all 👌
Was going to get the apex but held of at the last minute to check other peoples experiences using it , glad I took that decision now , thanks for your great video 👍 .
Informative video Aaron. May dry out and be OK but wouldn't use it in the wet again. I have been using a whites classic for years and got fed up wrapping it in plastic bags so this spring i got me a simplex and it seems to have brought my field back to life. I have even got it wet without fear because nokta seem to know how to waterproof. Agree? Thanks for sharing bud GL and HH 👍 Conlyn
The thing I don't like about this detector is that it gives you a nice tone and when you dig the hole it changes. That and the VDI tends to be all over the place.
Aaron, just scrolled through the comments. Good video as always 😊 I can't see anyone mentioning the tightening of the coil to the box.... If that ain't connected right, there's going to be false noises lol. But other than that I can't see where the problem would lie.....🤔 I can't see water damaging it, it's very well protected inside - there's a few good design pictures and videos out there that show water just ain't getting in unless submersed for a while, then it may.... But rain - I just can't see it mate. Give supplier/Garrett a call mate. 👍
Cheers Ben, gutted as I’m a big Garrett fan and always have been since my ace 250... might be something to do with the “channel” setting maybe, cleaned it all and set it to channel 1 for headphones and it’s been ok in the garden. Might have been the coastguard tower interfering via radio? Will test it out this week to see 👍 whoop whoop!
Yes the channel frequency is definitely something to keep checking. I've noticed 1-4 gives me little chirps (which I had on the test video, which was annoying because had I have known, it would have sounded better) but 4+ and it's as quiet as a mouse. Obviously, every area is going to have different types of interference, so always best to try every set frequency at each location until the interference reduction is at a desired level. My next video is out in the rain, and it's safe to say - I got it soaked....😬! Let's see what results I get on my next hunt. But it's had a clean and a dry down and all seems ok in the garden 👌. But I can't stress enough as to how important it is to make sure that coil wire is tightly secured into the control panels port. Also give it another wrap around Aaron, tight coil wrap around the stem is best (but obvs not too tight). I always make sure that the coil wire wraps are tight enough not to be able to fit a pencil through it and the stem 😉 my little tip! The way I look at it, the coil is the business end, and so that's got to be set up just right in my eyes. As for the headphones - I'm stumped pal! I've tried everything to make mine NOT work 🤣 but they just keep working and staying connected 'whichever way round I wear em' and from a distance too, I'll walk away on a ciggy break and they just won't disconnect 🤷🏼♂️. So like I say, stumped! All I can think of is a factory error, but you're not the only one, so how many are faulty if that is the case 🤔 I dunno, enjoying mine anyway, and like you - always have a soft spot for Garrett, from the very beginning with a 250👌 Keep us updated and keep the vids coming 😉 GL and HH mate 👍 Whoop Whoop 👍
Hi Arron , well as i said time will tell and so much for the latest must have detector from Garret and you are not the only one to have problems with it ! a good honest video mate well done i enjoyed it ATB Rob .
Could it be airwave signals from phone masts, aircraft traffic ect, I was reading a post the other day from another apex user was having the same sort of problems but it was when two raf jets were flying over head , lasted about 25 seconds when they were approaching and as they were Leaving maybe it’s the same sort of thing, taxi radios ect the list could go on, I’ve had none of these problems with mine yet, but then again it’s not been wet yet either, good luck at the manor , will be interesting to see what it does there , nice video , on to the next as they say
The fact that it doesnt pick up a target on way and does the other is the reason we grid a section in every direction back and forth side to side because you might miss something one way and find it the other thats detecting 101. thanks for sharing and hope you get your machine figured out.
Hi Aaron I watched quite a lot of your videos I'm new to this game.I haven't done a lot of metal detecting yet because I have not got the car now I've only got a mobility scooter and the Four permissions I have I have to rely on my neighbour to take me there when we can go metal detecting when he is not working.
Hi Aaron mate, I have found the Apex is very sensitive to EMI and mineralized ground.. went out the other day, on a different field, quiet as a mouse..!!! by the way for iron audio to work you need to have some discrimination..wont work in all metal.. will all know 2p has iron core, so its saying its round (good tone) bud crap(bad tone)...lol It seems the Apex got better when you mover location..re what I said earlier.. dont know problem with headphones dropping out, not tried mine yet...!!! Take care mate Tom
I don’t know if it will make any difference but Garrett recommends the first wrap of the coil wire goes across the top of the shaft not behind. Great videos though happy hunting 👍🏻
Oh dear mate if it is a water issue will they replace it due to it being sold as shower proof but not water proof? Looking forward to seeing you with the Nox!
Haha glad the package arrived safe mate, awesome vid, trouble with any machine that starts messing about, you lose confidence in it, 2p King of the Tuppence :D Can't wait to order my LP digging tool :D :D
Very funny video again, shame you had a nightmare morning with the gremlins!....but in the end and as they say in pantomimes.....it’s behind you!! Get that box open! Excellent!
Great video. I was all excited about the Apex, but seeing how it behaved reminded me of what my AT did and now I think for all that money,,,, I will save up a bit more for a Nox.
Another great video. Not a garrett fan personally and I don't think I ever will be. Hopefully you will have better luck with the nox than grim. It's the cats turn to steal the show this week 😻
Sorry to here about ya scoop falling apart. My trade is welding but unfortunately I live on the other side of the pond, Wolverhampton to be more exact lol. Happy detecting
Dry it out in the oven on gas mark 7 for 20 mins 😁 oh well it`s still in its infancy things are bound to go wrong with them, better now though so garrett can start to address the problems. good that it`s still picking up the tiny targets though. could it be a mobile phone interfering with it , seeing as its that sensitive ? My lad was toying with the idea of getting one but is now leaning more towards the NOX 800 which most users advise . I use the AT MAX and have had some excellent finds but its heavy and eats batteries like theres no tomorrow i can go through four AA`s over two digs 😂 give garrett time to iron out the problems and i might consider an AT APEX if they put one on the market🤔ATB👍
All machines have problems from time to time. That headphone disconnect though is just not right. And if it is muting for some reason whilst detecting, how many things might you have walked over and not known it? If you are like me I go by audio most of the time and only refer to the VDU once I hear a target. The other thing that would concern me somewhat is that misidentification of targets. Giving a good tone all the way until the target is out of the hole and then you get the iron grunt? Not right. Maybe it is just your machine though? Anyway, great vid. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the Nox :)
I think the release of there new machine is turning out less then spectacular they’ve had to do some serious damage control already making videos to dispute the performance testing as others have mentioned they’ve never seen a major brand behave like this
@@treasurehuntingnewyork5979 I have said from the beginning that I thought Garrett had discovered too late that creating a simultaneous multi-frequency machine was a lot more difficult than they had envisaged. The misidentification of targets tells me they got it wrong. Still, as long as they sort out the problems in a timely manner and make sure it stays sorted for future buyers then it should all be good.
Maybe its like one of these new cars that shuts of at traffic lights lol ......i would get that checked out for sure it defo don't seem right Arron mate 👍😀👌
Yeeeeaaa another 2p, lol . Im Glad i dont do youtube videos , as my GoFind 44 loves 2p coins !!!! Not good having problems with expensive equipment ! Loved that 2p silver plated . Humm m , interesting box behind you , lol .

I would Notify Garrett. They might like to examine it. Could be a manufacturing defect or maybe it leaked moisture inside the case as stated previously. Either way, they will address the issue and fix it in future production. Happy Hunting.
I can see you have finally got a nox a proper machine you might as well chuck all your other machines away.it’s about time you stop playing with the toys

Hmmm. You have a great channel and we appreciate your work with these machines. Hope you get it sorted
The thing I don't like about this detector is that it gives you a nice tone and when you dig the hole it changes. That and the VDI tends to be all over the place.
100% agree.... it tricks you into thinking it’s something good then it turns out to be crap.... it doesn’t identify iron well at depth
Nice to see you bk out not goid my coil on my 400i has a small mark in ir brother and it dose the same look fore whole
Excellent, with you and Grim joining the masses, this leaves all of the Simplex users to me and Southern Searcher, lol.
I've never got mine wet it dose great. One time went crazy wire came lose at box but fine after tightening. Hope it gets better for you.

Totally strange that maybe a faulty coil or rain got in the control box
The 2p from rob thats banging no bugger there l...ook forward to the next one
Bummer!!! Very aggravating dealing with a dodgy machine. Hopefully you can get it sorted out. I still love your videos my friend, GL and HH!!!👍😎👍
Get your simplex back and be happy 👍👍👊🎧👊

Nox? 🤔😉

New machine teething problems perhaps. Looking forward to the new machine👍

So when you getting the NOX mate
Done
Sorry to here about ya scoop falling apart. My trade is welding but unfortunately I live on the other side of the pond, Wolverhampton to be more exact lol. Happy detecting
I would see about getting a replacement apex, it’s just not playing right. Do you think Adam has been down the beach throwing two pence around?
He’s a sneaky little bugger!
Thing is if it because it got wet in the rain it gives you no confidence that you can go out detecting if it might rain.
It does not sound like its working correctly, maybe it got to wet? looking forward to the Nox try out :)

Try removing and cleaning under the coil cover. Sediments and other crap get into there and cause false readings and all kinds of noise.
You make good vids mate 🤛
Wow I originally thought about getting the Apex cause I love my AT pro on dry sand, glad I got the Nox

1978 was a good year

Unleash the weapon of mass detection!
definately a faulty machine buddy. Equinox hard to beat on the beach! Except for my Sovereign GT!
