Thanks for sharing your lovely day, I really want to homeschool but I’m terrified I’ll spend all day breaking up fights, my two girls (2 & 1/2 and 6) are very spirited 😀
Lovely video, thank you, x we love the Storm Whale book 📖, I’ll have to take a look at Winter version, :) my little one used to read the Bob books, ☺️ and he’d get in a muddle putting them back with that ledge in the box, lol, x I did purchase the Maps Special edition book and the Maps Activity book, and they are brilliant, we are using them together with the Usborne Sticker Picture Atlas of the World. I must take a better look at the Collins History and Geography curriculum you use, it looks lovely and gentle, Xx
Oh it’s a lovely one! Anything whales my daughter just loves. Oh how funny, bless them, even I have trouble with that box. Did you end up using all the Bob book sets or did you move on to something new. I’m looking at getting set 2 soon. Oh that’s great. The Collins are definitely gentle. We are looking forward to moving on to the next level. They have been great so far!
@@blossomschoolhouse6059 we used the Bob Books First Stories, pale blue box and the Bob Books Sight Words, lilac box, once he was decoding well. We used Alpha Phonics to teach him, that was brilliant, and then after that we went on to Oxford Reading Tree for a little bit esp in the lower levels, and then onto the RSPB First Books, Frog & Toad, National Geographic Windows on Literacy, National Geographic Kids 1, and then 2, some more Oxfording Reading tree for fun (biff, chip books) lots of fun poetry like Mad about minibeasts, Commotion in the Ocean, try to find more books which give learning rather than fictional characters like ORT but they are enjoyable. I’ve had a look on Amazon at the Collins Primary, do you recommend 1 student book, teaching my two boys, 5 and almost 8 year old, or should they have their own, and the teacher books, is there a teacher book to purchase for each primary book, they all have different numbers, do the numbers equate to class years? Xx
@@jessicajones611 oh that sounds great. We love the Nat geo readers too! We have the biff chip and kipper levels 1-6 too, that’s where I was undecided on moving on to them or getting another bob books set. So with the Collins primary geography you only need one studen book and one teacher guide. The teachers guide has all the worksheets for each lesson in the back to be photocopied. And then you read from the student book. It’s basically jus a simple story introducing the concept though, we always expand with books we have on the subject like weather, seasons, maps etc. Mine are 5 &7 and it works fine for us because I always expand but it might be too simple for your 8yo. I have a look inside video on here under loop subjects curriculum if that helps!
So glad you liked the video! The Collins books we have are very simple and definitely need a little bit of expanding upon so depending on your child’s age the levels up might be better. 😊
This video was so helpful! I really like how you do the loop subjects in the afternoon. Most videos that I have watched include them in the morning basket time. Would you mind sharing where you purchased the wooden manipulatives that you use?
So glad to hear it was helpful! We always mix up our routine but mostly do loop subjects in the afternoon. Wooden resources are mainly from conscious craft and the wood cove 💛
Highly recommend 'Leading little ones to God' its the best devotional we've but may be a little old for 2 and a half. You could start with A is for adam devotional from answersingenesis.com they have d is for dinosaur and n is for noah too. Weve used the A and the N books!
@@blossomschoolhouse6059 They look great. Thankyou. Also, where did you get the place value houses that are in the video? They look like such a good idea!
Love this !! I am just starting to home ed my son - hes 7 and has autism. My oldest son is 11 and in his final year at primary and has aspergers. I am anxious about how it will go but I am excited also xx
School can be hard for autistic children. I reccomended some time to deschool, enjoy being home and being able to play more and learn through interests and more movement time than school allows. And have fun. If it's no longer fun, take a break and have a snack. Spend some time in interests and start again. Hope it all goes well for you and your boys! You can do it! 🥰
This is great! I'm so excited about you channel. Where abouts in the country are you, if you don't mind me asking? I'm originally from West London but now live in the West Midlands.
Sorry I missed this comment! We have gathered resources over the years from a few small shops and amazon. Curriculum we purchase from amazon too or directly from the companies. Sharing our curriculum picks soon if that helps💛
Hello I’m currently watching near enough all your videos me and my partner are starting a life in Australia🇦🇺 this year and I will be homeschooling over there for a while till we get properly sorted I’m also Christian I don’t think schools in the uk the talk about or educate the scriptures of god anymore I love how you mix it in the morning I will be doing this also thanks for all you great tips and advise you’ve deffo made me more confident Also where do you get your sand spellers from thanks 🙏 ❤️
Hey, I will try and do a video on this soon but basically with my first we used learn to read in 100 lessons and abc see hear so books and with my second we used just the abc see hear do books then added in bob books and lots of reading. My biggest tip hands down is getting them to read to you. Have some readers around there level or beginner books with basic cvc words and if they don’t know a word after trying just tell them. And do this every day. They memorise soo much from this. My 5 yo is reading at such a great level compared with her sister when she was this age because of this I believe. I didn’t do it as much with my eldest. Hope that helps 💛
@@blossomschoolhouse6059 thank you for your valuable advice! I’m looking forward to teaching my 5 yo (kindergartener) how to read this year! Love your channel! Thank you for what you do 💕💕
I have a question but you certainly do not have to answer it, so please don't think I, as a viewer, will be offended if you don't answer. It's more for my curiosity, really. I'm an atheist. But, when it comes to homeschooling my kids, I fully intend to take them to religious buildings, partake in religious festivals of small and big faiths, so they get a full understanding of the world's peoples and their views. Then, when they're teenagers, this will hopefully give them a good grounding to then study the psychology and philosophy of faith and religion. I wonder, as you are raising your kids Christian, do you intend to teach them about other faiths? :)
Hi, thank you for your question. We’ve never hidden any other religions and beliefs, in fact we have read about them quite a lot. We’ve also shown them the theory of evolution and the wide theories and beliefs of scientist today i.e what energy is, consciousness, the cause of life etc. I hope that answers your question. Are you homeschooling already or planning to start? 💛
I'm excited I found a fellow Christ centered home educating mummy in the UK!
Aw so glad 💛💛
Me too!
Where is your little sand tray from? I love it. So glad to have a found a Jesus loving family on here! x
