" It's nothing controversial about 2 women kissing, its like saying controversial like someone eating ice-cream or something like that that happens every day" Good saying! Brett!
cracking bit of history this first interview! we never ever got to see them talking together, to and with each other in the UK at all in that first 18 months before the split. they appear to be wearing the same trousers, sitting the same way and even saying the same things at once! .. such a shame what happened after. great find great upload x
just found this after reading Brett’s books about this period. It’s fascinating to see how calm they appear in interview when so much craziness was going on for them. Thanks for the upload!
very interesting things bbrett and bernard said about listening to your own record imagining it's not yours, thank you for that its good for any kind of art!
James Cuomo Pretty sure they started off being completely facetious about listening to their own record but then seemed to try and reign it in. In years later they went the other way and got really self critical of their own music
Really a shame these two couldn’t get along. I heard Bernard became impossible after his father’s death. He just tuned out the band and then started making ultimatums. In other words, he was asking to be kicked out of the band.
"became impossible" or wasn't able to grieve properly because no one in the band or their management were willing to postpone the tour and treated his grief like an inconvenience, which eventually lead to him suffering from a breakdown.

I noticed that as well. Listening to yourself later on is quite remarkable.
