Thank you, Teepa. I learn so much from you. You are a Godsend. I just called memory care to request mom’s favorite TV shows be put on TV after dinner. Her routine was falling asleep to either Everybody Loves Raymond or Andy Griffith Show every night for years. I think that would be a game changer for her. I mentioned it when she moved in but it hasn’t been done yet unless I am visiting. Your show today reminded me to request this. I hope it helps her worsening anxiety in the evenings.

Teepa is so clear and helpful. Please reconsider the choppy closeups. It's difficult to describe, but I have migraines, and the camera on Teepa that's moving back and forth (for closeups) is very difficult to watch.

I love your videos and have learned so much. My problem is my Dad has always been in control and it's his way or the highway. I believe he has vascular dementia. I say I believe because there is no way he will consent to any kind of testing. He is able to buffalo health care professionals during their 10 minute visits. He is aggressive and anxious all the time with family. These are traits he's always had, they are just ramped up now. I don't know how to help my mom as she has to be there 24/7 or else. I have tried many of your suggestions and his response is consistent...why would I want to do that? I am feeling hopeless and don't expect any viable solutions. I guess I just wanted to share and know I'm not alone.

I will let you know my personal experience with my mother. A neurologist told me she has ischemic changes in her brain and he was so intelligent that much went over my head, but he said it was dementia caused by the vascular changes in her brain. I don’t know if Teepa would consider this correct information. This is just how I found out about mom. She was actually in the hospital for something else, but the neurologist noticed these things in her CT scan. Mom also has a history of stoke- 2019. I don’t know if that matters. She did not present with dementia symptoms immediately after the stroke though.
My dad had several years of high blood pressure, as well as kidney damage from the excessive span of years of HBP. His bp fluctuated rather a bit: 180/95 to 110/63 and anywhere in between, generally 145/85 was common. He also quit getting exercise four years before a real noticeable change, although part was due to Parkinson’s (yes, another dementia). He was on oxygen the last three months of very clear decline in vascular-related cognition.

1-11-25; how can you tell the difference between vascular and other dementia?
