4MD Turbo TWICE Repaired for
ฝัง

- Welp it finally happened, a small oversight during a repair caused a major failure!
We stand behind our customer service and reputation, so this video is going to seem a little repetitive since we had to repair this turbo twice!
Something as small as the proper bearings in a turbo build can have HUGE impacts.
Watch the saga unfold as we work through the issues to get @ScrappyIndustries 4MD Schwitzer (@BorgWarnerCorporate) turbocharger running smooth again.
This nearly-obsolete, vintage 4MD turbocharger comes from Sam's circa 1960s/1970s 60,000lb 280HP TD25C Bulldozer with International 817B Engine. Turbo p/n and crosses include 4MD-755, 4MD755, 148065, 702505C91, 702505C92.
Good thing we are core hoarders and expert parts scroungers!!!

Makes sure everyone hits that thumbs up button 👍
Helps us TH-camrs out a bunch especially when stuff like this happens! Your not doing anything right if you don’t learn something new everyday. These guys are the best in the business and the key is standing behind what they do. It’s what sets them apart. What I love about TH-cam is it’s real tv, not scripted stuff that you see on the big shows on the big name networks.
Great job guys!
My guess is that C&C has the same "stand behind what they do" ethics.
the right attitude makes life simple and the result is success. But the TH-camrs should be aware that TH-cam will take an growing share as your markets grows to maturity and leaving not much on the bone as Google has shown. I really enjoyed this vid as the simple honesty of admitting a mistake and making it right is what good people do, like I also love the C and C vids as they also show decent and honest business and also family people earing a good living. Cheers guys, thank you.
Honest and very informative video. Humans make mistakes. That's just part of life. Could have easily said it was a "bad bearing" and went on with it. But admitting that it was a human error and the wrong bearing used, to me, is the sign of a good, honest company being 100% transparent. And I very much respect and appreciate that.
I seen several video. Of your work. Your ethics. Honesty. Are such a nice thing to see. Scrapy industries. C and c equipment and others led me to your channel. In up comeing year I will be in contact for injectors for my 2002. Duranax. Best wishes from alberta canada
Great vidio!! Honest company great employees looking foward to future vidio's.
Agreed
Admitting your mistake and making it right is a sign of maturity, confidence and integrity - great to see
What a truly wonderful example of the standard of knowledge, motivation and aftercare at Area Diesel Services. Well done guys ;)
Thank you kindly!
After having watched your videos for a while now I have to applaud how open and honest Area Diesel Service is. While I am not in the industry I would definitely recommend your services to anyone I come across. Thank you for sharing so openly. The mistakes are what we learn by and having this level of information out there for everyone helps us all.
Your honesty and standing behind your work did cost you money to make it right, but I am sure you have gained a lot of new customers thanks to this video. Excellent, very informative video, thank you
Wow, I am really proud of your honesty! This business ethic is what your customers will value. Cheers ADS!
Excellent thanks for showing your are human and make mistakes and for making it right. An honest company is hard to find. You guys are a top notch company in my book. Most wouldn’t publish a mistake Thanks for being honest you guys are still great. 👍
This is the way business should be done, great to see and everyone learns from it. Most turbo companies always blame the customer for failures. I hope Sam changes the oil in that dozer, this spanking new, very rare turbo deserves it!
If only all companies were like Area Diesel!
Owning up to a mistake is the sign of honest and dedicated work and a recommendation of the company. Thanks for another amazing video.
Damn fine job guys. This here is how you make something right when you need to make things right for a customer. MANY other businesses need to take notice of this type of customer service.
I bet the extra pair of eyes belonged to one of the old original guys that used to work on these turbos when they were still common place. This is one of those instances where you lose on the swings, but gain on the roundabouts. Already a well respected company. Excellent at what you do. Now putting the icing on the top for total customer satisfaction. I have bought cars, brand new. Salesman all over you like a rash. Drive off the forecourt and around the block. There's a fault. Take the car back in. Same Salesman doesn't want to know you. Having a company that stands by its products and resolves issues. Golden. May this incident generate you lots of new customers.
It was indeed a "more experienced" set of eyes that identified the issue.
ADS may have made a simple oversite with bearings and it cost the company time and money BUT, in the long run I bet it will pay off greatly because you are building an honest customer reputation. I for one would make you my GO-TO shop for any work I needed done.
We need more shops like yours !
So now you all know ( I didn't know either) there are two different oil systems used and NOT to confuse them :)
Thanks ADS ! I really enjoyed this video !
I watched the entire video of your work and I have to say I’m impressed. But that you went the extra 10,000 miles to own up and correct the mistake is almost unbelievable. You have my respect. I am nothing of a mechanic but I do enjoy watching you guys doing what you do, including Sam, Matt and yourselves.
Damn boys, that’s what standing behind your service looks like.
To make a video documenting the good, bad and ugly is as good as it gets.
Very impressed.
Failure is success in progress, and there’s no better way to explain that as ADS did today in this video.
Gentleman, I have tremendous respect for all of you. Admitting something like this is extremely rare nowadays. I would shake all of your hands if I could. Well done, all of you.
Wow, thank you
The key part of this and the best way to run a business, own your mistakes and learn from them. Well done sir.
Absolutely!
You guys are a great organization, well done!
Thank you!
You guys are awesome!
Huge respect for the way y'all do business.
What a standup resolution to a human mistake!! Training Expense = $ 4,000. Goodwill and reputation earned = priceless. OK, Sam, time to change that oil and filter(s)!!
Well done guys, honesty is the best policy. Must have been a kick in the teeth for both sides however it was corrected professionally. Keep up the great work, regards from Scotland
Great customer service. Ran into something similar with WIX filters. They manufactured nearly an entire case of 10 filters with wrong threads. However, they would NOT warranty their poor workmanship. WIX customer service admitted wrong doing in their assembly process, but left me on my own after several phone calls and emails to them.
Incredibly honest and greatly informative video. It takes allot of integrity to own a mistake and take it on to make the customer #1. I wish more businesses took their craft as serious as Area Diesel Service. Theres are reason you are still in business.
It is brilliant to see such care and customer service and most importantly honesty in today's engineering market. From a long retired engineer in the UK and follower of scappy and deisel creek on youtube.
It takes a big person to own that kind of error. You figured it out though. Cheers to you and your team! Well done! Keep up the good work!
It is always great to see an honest company. I really doubt that any of your competitors would have admitted to the same mistake. Admitting to a mistake and repairing it is very admirable and that is what makes your company great! Awesome job!
Good Lord, that turbo is going to be worth more than the dozer!
Extremely reasonable charges!
Way too go guys and making things right your customer service is outstanding! Everyone makes mistakes and if you don’t your probably not alive anymore.
Wow..! That exhaust sleeve is a thing of beauty. Nice work. Your service and after support & warranty work, is precisely why you folks are where you are in the industry.
Great video,
Thank you sir.
Incidents happen. What matters is how they’re corrected is what matters most. Kudos to you and your company. Enjoyed the videos as always!
Hats off for the way this is handled. There will always be a new challenge around the next corner.
AREA DIESEL SERVICE will be the company I recommend. Like you said it's how you own and correct that makes the deference.
Incredible honesty, repair and service! I will support your company and suggest it to friends in the diesel world.
I commend you for stepping up and acknowledging your shop's oversight. I certainly will be directing my future diesel needs to you. Thank you for doing Scrappy Industries right.
Came over from Scrappy. Didnt think I would watch an hour video on a turbo rebuild, but sure is an excelkant video.
How a company fixes their mistake says everything about their integrity. You boys man up'd & have proven just that. True professionals in the industry.
It’s very refreshing to see a company that has such high standards and integrity!!! Area Diesel Service, you are a class act! Thank you for sharing!
Everyone makes mistakes. The willingness to own and rectify them is what seperates the men from the boys. Nic work!
Awesome job guys, really awesome to see real customer support. Keep up the good work.
It's nice to see an American company still stands behind its work. Honesty, Integrity and Quality are things that just don't seem to exist much anymore. You guys are great. Awesome video.
Dang!! That's a painful mistake. We all make them. Good on you for making it right. Id be proud to do business with you if and when I need it. Thank you for making the video.
It so nice to see a company stand up for their mistakes and admit it. In this day and age of finger pointing it is refreshing. If I ever have need something done it will come to ADS. Nice job guys.
What a great video of professionals in every way,at work!
Thank you very much!
Situation like this can make or break business. And I think you handled it the best way possible. Shit does happen to the best of us
Kudos to your shops employees and accountability 👍Life happens.
People DO make mistakes and that doesn't make you less capable. It shows so much integrity and honesty that you openly talk about the mistake. Well done!!
I would bet that there isn't one company in a thousand that would publish the second half of this video. Doing so shows the incredible levels of integrity and honesty and amazing customer focus that you have. Admitting that you made a mistake and it cost the company money is never an easy thing to do, putting it out there for the world to watch is even harder. Kudos to everybody involved at ADS for putting "doing the right thing" first. If I ever need work done on a turbo or diesel parts, I know who I'll call first.
Integrity! Good job!
You guys are one of the few shops that stand behind their work!!
Very nice to see business operate with high level of expertise and integrity !!!!
Admitting fault is admirable in this day in age and making it good is what sets you , Area Diesel Service apart from others ,Kudo's to you and your staff at Area Diesel service , What Sam should do is change the Oil and filters, in the dozer that should be a must while installing the new Turbo
Hats off to Area Diesel.
Covered in schmoo as usual. So funny 😁 😂 I am pretty sure that is a technical term😂
If only the politicians were this honest😮.
Taking care of the customer!!
Fantastic. It is very rare to find a company so open and honest. This video has not only helped me understand the issues with older turbos but has gone a long way to enhancing your reputation as a trustworthy company. Well done
Thats sonething you see anymore. Great job!
This is the type of accountablilty America needs! We had it, it is good to see there are still great people that stand by their work! Great Job ADS!
I bet it will wake that 817 up and scare the ---- out of Sam!LOL!
Great video great honesty great job thanks guys I'm sure Sam will be happy
You guys certainly treat ea piece w/loving care! 😊
Wow , that is truly made of unobtainium
Watching from Western Australia.🇦🇺 Seems like a great Company to do business with 👍
Can’t believe I’d missed this one but better late than never. Great work and great way to stand behind your customers.
Found ADS through Watch Wes Work and have been glad to see you guys pop up in C&C Equipment, Dirt Perfect, Capt. Kleeman, Diesel Creek and (now) Scrappy Industries.
There isn’t a diesel in my fleet yet, but you guys will be at the top of my list when I go and get a crazy idea to swap something crazy into a V10 Excursion. 👍
Standing behind your work like this I can only imagine how many more customers you will have
Good to see there is still some reputable businesses out there.
This is the type of company you want to do business with.. no passing the buck, no trying to find an excuse to blame the customer.. we broke it, we WILL fix it no charge to the customer. Good honest people.
You all re-confirm my faith in small business! You guys Rock! Its nice to see honesty in is still around. My hat's off to you guys!!!
Thanks for taking us through the procedure, was good to see Diesel Creek using one of your products too.
Awesome customer service. Still looked like the clocking of the components was different. Awesome guys at ADS they are the best
Man, talk about a situation that falls under sh.t happens, this is it. How many people who would remember this level of detail in a 50 year old piece are still in the industry today? Kudos to Area Diesel Service for taking on builds of vintage iron components. Would be so easy to turn this work away.
We all makes mistakes own up it is the right thing to do koodo’s to you and your tech’s thanks for sharing your experience 👍👋🇨🇦
Excellent video! Applaud y'alls honesty and integrity! BTW, the narrator's (don't remember his name!) beard is awesome, I'm jealous!
Awesome video guys big thumbs up for admitting your mistake ,says a lot for your company being honest and true to your customers .We are only human at the end of the day and all make mistakes owning up to them isn’t so easy, but you all did and that’s what makes us successful so thanks for a great video and for being honest wouldn’t hesitate for a minute to use you guys first class work from all of you take care and sleep well you deserve it 100% from Scotland 👍👍👍👌👌👌🔧🔧🔧❤️
In business it's easy when everything goes well, what makes the difference with those we do business with is what's done when things go bad, and for the customer that is what's important for lasting relationships. This is how reputations are built and maintained for good or bad. It's never easy, however I know of no other path or shortcut to build trust with ones customers, Ray Stormont
Hey Curtis. While ADS may have come up short due to the bearing oversight on the fix of the turbo for Scrappy Industries' dozer turbo, ADS taking ownership of the issue in an open, honest, and direct way, has earned you all a small purchase from me.
While I have no need for a turbo, unless you have a turbo for a Nissan 2.5 liter engine for my 2016 Nissan Rogue 😉, I admire ADS for stepping up and making Sam and his turbo whole. So, this morning I bought a fender cover and a pair of mechanics gloves from the ADS website.
We appreciate the support. Let us know when you're ready for that turbo.
Nice too admit your mistakes, fixing it and also showing us what and how to... keep up the good work 👌👌👌
You guys are great for owning up to your fault and resourcefulness in rectifying the problem. I can see why scrappy, c&c, and dirt perfect use you. Great job.
I love how honest you guys are. Many companies would simply blame the client. You could have easily blamed Sam for disassembling the unit - you did not! That goes a long way. EXCELLENT examples of awesome customer service and honesty. 🇨🇦
It's a fantastic company (Area Diesel) that owns up to their mistakes. Great to see for a change......
Gotta love Intersmashables..........BTW, love the scrounging abillity and phenomenal ethics. Liked this one much!
I commend you for backing up what you did wrong and lot of companies would have blame the owner . You’re a stand up outfit ..
What a stand-up group! If I ever need diesel parts or repair, you guys are getting the call.
Significant scrounging is probably a huge understatement. Good of you guys to own up to your mistakes
Outstanding that you found the mistake and stood by that mistake.
Not many companies today that would go that extra mile to make it right for the customer and admit that the error was the fault of the company.
Congrats on being reputable and honest. I have suggested ADS on occasion where applicable.
Thanks for sharing and having honest humility.
I bow to your company.... Well done...well said....😀😀😀😀
Thank you kindly
I so wish more companies did this. Owning up to their own mistakes, no matter what the reason. Like this was one that would be very, very difficult to know about unless you knew about this exact turbo. Yeah, it can cost the company a lot of money. However that gives the chance for new customers or returning customers to help fill the loss with actual work because of the better PR. Nice job with this one! Also I never knew brand new parts would fit *that* well together in these sizes, I always thought it would be a bit rough to begin with. Oh well, you always learn new things!
Very impressive response to a problem, shows the quality and integrity of the company. Thanks for sharing.
great seeing the before and the after rebuild ! learning curve , but ...YOU STOOD BEHIND YOUR WORK... Good work+
Well Gentlemen, you have done your business a power of good owning this failure. Remember, the only person who has not made a mistake, never made anything.
I live in a small country town in Australia and as such news travels fast therefore I always say “If you don’t have a good reputation in business, you have nothing”
Well done, honesty is hard to find these days and in this video you have shown that you have it in spades. Many thanks and kind regards to you all.
Hello Guys, i just came over from Scrappy Industries to view what's going on with the turbo. Also Diesel Creak is a favor channel from me.
- At the end very well done guys !
To take on that challenge to start with is a colossal undertaking my friends,I can only hope that Sam paid you guys again, and gladly for your efforts.
Thank you Sam, huge fan . Im a restoration guy so I get it , easy jobs are hard nothing goes as planned, welcome to real life bro , you da man!
Respect to this video and the opinions given.
Ive watched a handful of these videos from this channel now; the guy on camera is good at speaking to us. I never find myself bored even though these are usually "longer" videos ( long for some people, not me ). Please keep this format
Wow not often do companies admit they’re wrong, you folks are a stand up company! If needed I will be a customer.
Shit happens. I was a mechanical cash register mechanic for years. We too had our failures and we had to make it right. Good job getting it fixed
an honest shop. Also, its awesome that you managed to find a brand new center for that turbo, for a nearly 70 year old machine, that is crazy that either a new old stock was sitting somewhere for that long, or, that someone is making them again.
