I would like to thank you all for your time watching this video. I'm still new to this and hardly know what I'm doing making content but you have all given me motivation and hope that it might actually work out! Regardless of if you liked it or not, I appreciate every single person who watched. Now seems like a good time to start the road to 1000 subscribers!

Thanks for releasing… people. Please remember how happy this guy is in. The next person will be just as happy throw the big ones back for the next guy or gal…. Not to mention the big ones are the breeders, so if you’re interested in having any fish around for your children or grandchildren, I would highly suggest the above.

People don't realize that fish this size aren't nearly as good as a 2-3 lb fish. Someone give me part of a huge blue one time and I had to throw it away. I couldn't eat it. I fully live by CPR on fish over 10. I don't even keep them over 5 unless I can't get anything else.
Awesome! Someone finally DID IT! Caught that legendary volkswagen sized man eating catfish that stalks humans at every dam in the USA! Every boy who grew up on a lake or river has heard the tale! Stay out of the water kids! LOL Nice catch! Definitely one to remember.
Congrats brother that was a beautiful fish, the black on it was awesome And don’t listen to the haters, you did the right thing by letting it go there’s no sense in eating a fish that big
Great job! To be honest, I'm extremely surprised no one offered to help. Where I'm from, ppl see that bend in that pole and hear that twang of the line and come rushing over to see if u need assistance in landing and taking photos. But that rush boy, you feel you can do anything lol my first ever +40lb. I was lucky, and buddy was just starting to leave. He heard me, and after bout 20 min, and it in my arms, at that moment, I don't think there was anyone happier. Congrats again!
Many years ago 4 of us were fishing below Pickwick Dam in Tn. I caught a 30 pound blue cat and released it. As soon as I released my fish the other 3 men each hooked onto a fish. Each of their fish weighed 30 pounds. I think those were kept and brought to Georgia.😋
Nice dark flat! I was fairly sure it was gonna be a flat early in the video. They stay straight down as long as they can and they can stay down a while lol. Blues roll and channel run.
I was sure when it started to shake it's head more. I was expecting a little more violence from it like the 10-20lb ones. It was a very good looking fish. I like the dark better than the swamp colored ones.
Good vid! You can use Catfish Dave on his channel as an example to show your fish to your viewers. If you're uncomfortable grabbing a toad flathead in the mouth, pick up a set of grabbers.
I've grabbed a few 20lb ones and a 40lb one by the mouth since then. They aren't bad to handle now that I caught a few more. I thought it might fight me trying to hold it but now I know they mostly give up by them time I land them. I may still get a glove or grabber. The smaller catfish have been shredding my hands.
It was not as easy to lift as it should have been, partially from fighting it for 9 minutes. I think I'm already down 10lbs this year from walking to the dam and back.
Where is this at in WI? Why doesn't anybody at least offer to net the fish? That's a common courtesy to offer help with the net if someone has a huge fish hooked.
A little north of La Crosse. I think they would have net it if I asked but I don't mind netting it myself. I've netted a lot of other people's fish. I'm usually the only one with a big net down there.
I wish more people would weigh fish right in the net. Those super-tight jaw clamps that most people use can't be good for the fish, especially those with thick tissue on the floor of the mouth that ends up being pinched tightly. Also, for some species, lifting the huge ones by the jaw can do damage. There's no gentler way to lift them than with a net, and it also discourages them from flopping so you get a good weight reading more quickly and with less risk of dropping them.
I weighed a couple smaller fish without it and decided to only use the net now. A lot of scales only have an awful grip or a hook, sometimes a strap with it.
@@joshr.4398 The hook is just stuck to one spot and it never moves. The big plastic grabbers rub on their tooth patches and when the fish thrashes you can hear the plastic scraping loudly against those tiny teeth. Further, the fish is thrashing while its entire weight is supported that way, but the hook never has more force on it than just a few pounds (test this for yourself by suspending a weight of about four pounds using your line and the flex of your fishing rod. After trying that, you will realize that we don't actually pull very hard when fighting such fish as these). As to the bruising, just imagine your own cheek being clamped tightly between those grabber jaws. They have a bit of a compound clamping action when snapped shut and the grip is tight with no built-in springiness or cushioning.
I wanted to but was was worried I'd drop it or keep it out of the water too long since I never held one that big before. Next time I'll try to get a better view of it.
i just love when somebody want to throw out while u are trying to land fish jealous people want you to lose fish lose little weight try kayak catfishing
I'm trying to do better with that. I had never handled a fish that big before and was worried I'd hurt it or drop it. I'm more comfortable handling them now after I got a few slightly smaller ones out of there. This day I was just happy I finally got a big catfish.

CONGRATS!!!....Never forget my 10lb largemouth, 3lb crappie and 40lb flathead.....cheers to new personal bests!

Sounds like they were eating very well for while after that trip. I haven't got a blue catfish yet but maybe one day I'll take a trip to get one.

2o lb channel cat here at age 10 in lake erie, my pb, I was so proud!
Nice. I think my biggest channel cat was about 12lb from this same dam. I'd like to get a 20lb one.

Yeah I do lol
On a Walmart pole! Awesome catch
These rods work well for being just $27. I think they come with 12lb line but it's still cheap after replacing that.
Nice catch
44×45,and he looks like a cube!!! XD XD XD XD
Super,gril
good job!
What kind of bait was you using?
A small live bluegill
That's so great

It's a little north of La Crosse, WI. It's on the east side of the river opposite lock #7.

Big fish 🐟 VS big hearted man 🤍
Some people just suck ignore that shit. Great catch! Got a sub from me my guy keep it up!
Tht was a nice catch.
Could this be the monster causing anglers to go missing? (From work?)
I think most of the fish in here cause disappearances.
Tangkapan yang bagus kawan, salam satu hobi bro 👍 5:20
solid catch
Wish you would have showed it off a little more
Next time I'll try to. I was excited about the fish but also worried about keeping it out of the water for very long.
Nice fish
respect catch and release big cats

A little. I also had forgot what it felt like to be excited. Walking to that dam and back has helped a lot.

Its unreal how black it is. Nice catch.
Yeah it was very dark. The other smaller ones I got out of here were brown swamp colors.
@@NeckbeardFishing that is a rare catch for sure !
The only way to cure the burning arns, is to spend more time fishing. It works.
Do striper ever run at that dam?
I haven't heard anything about stripers since I started living here, only white bass. It's currently loaded with those.
