Patti LaBelle sang this song like the RENT was PAST-DUE and the Sheriff was on his way!! She left her entire soul on that stage! No one today comes this close except FANTASIA!! Patti is a NATIONAL TREASURE!!
And what's even more incredible is that although fantasia would be a worthy choice, even she would need to bootcamp a ton to actually capture Prime Patti. The Power and technique is unmatched to this day of Prime Patti. She was miles beyond even her own peers in certain ways. I just sit in awe of Prime Patti.

As a little boy growing up in the 80s Patti LaBelle always fascinated me and blew me away with her powerful performances.
She’s singing her with less twang in her voice so lovely I love it .... her chest notes or low notes seem more powerful
Patti's band back then....just crankin with that rhythm and bass....
@Allsmoke 23 Yeah I saw her years ago when she was under the direction of Bud Ellison her former musical director. The band and her back singers were tight.
@Allsmoke 23 Oh I saw Patti in 1988 and around 1991. I always remember her talking about Budd and her band. She is one of those singers who come even more alive with a great band who knows her voice.
Yall better enjoy these great legends while they are alive and still performing!
